The tour is 60 minutes long and includes no stops. The tour is hosted by a zany tour guide, and along the way other characters will hop on the bus and perform kid-centric sketches (Candy Pirate, Ninja, and a Levitator) The tour is not only fun – it’s educational! Kids and adults will learn new and interesting facts about Asheville along the way. There must be 1 adult for every 4 children. We do not allow any unaccompanied children. While Mrs. Schmidt may not be a household name, she holds a special place in the journey of comic impressionist Ken Block. Hailing from Long Island, New York, Mrs. Schmidt was Ken’s 9th grade math teacher and inadvertently became the character that launched his career.

“It was Mrs. Schmidt who first said, ‘What do you think you are, a comedian? If you open your mouth one more time’… Of course, Ken did open his mouth one more time. He didn’t say anything, he just opened his mouth!”

From mimicking his teachers to imagining celebrities as educators, Ken Block quickly honed his comedic skills. Picture Arnold Schwarzenegger as an English teacher, and you get the idea.

Asheville’s longest running comedy open mic happening every Wednesday night. The show starts at 8:00, and there is no cover. Anyone wanting to perform can sign up starting at 7pm, and will get four minutes on stage.
