Jax Spencer – Guest Pole Instructor
Apr 25 @ 5:00 pm – 9:00 pm
Empyrean Arts

We are stoked to have Jax Spencer coming to guest instruct 3 pole classes at Empyrean Arts on Thursday, April 25th! Sign up for classes with Jax by using your regular group class credits.

• 5:30-6:30pm – Sexy Low Flow (On Pole, Beginner – Low Intermediate)
– Basework combines flow at the lowest level of the pole and some sexy floor moves that will leave you wanting to roll around at home long after the class ends! Join Jax at the base and roll, twist and slink around the pole! This class is designed for all levels and will not include any climbing or inversions so we’ll keep it grounded! Heels, knee high socks, leggings and knee pads welcome!

• 6:45-7:45pm – Pole Tricks & Combos (On Pole, Beginner – Low Intermediate)
– Jax is known for her mini online pole tutorials with the hashtag #backtobasicswithjax that guides beginner and intermediate levels to create new flows, funky transitions and rework their favorite static and spin combos. This class is designed to bring a new, creative energy to your favorite individual poses or find a new favorite! Join Jax for this challenge and get on the pole!

• 8-9pm – Sultry Pole (On & Off Pole, All Levels)
– Create poetry on the pole during this class! Bring your heels and one fierce attitude! Dancing WITH (not just around) the pole can turn into an art form! While you’re getting the benefits of cardio during you’re dancing, you’re letting your creative side do the talking. Jax will show you sassy moves with smooth transitions including Bodyrolls, Figure 8’s and Floorwork! Her style is slinky, slow and will leave you wanting more! Each class choreography is different! Heels, knee high socks, leggings and knee pads welcome!

20th Century – Prokofiev and Prosecco [FREE Musical Happy Hour]
Apr 25 @ 5:15 pm – 6:15 pm
Peace Center

Peace Center Artist-in-Residence Igor Begelman hosts a FREE monthly music appreciation gathering that will unpack the rich traditions, diverse styles, and great composers of chamber music and beyond. Each interlude features a unique pairing ranging from Bach and Bordeaux to Chopin and Champagne, providing a multi-sensory sip, listen, and learn experience that highlights a musical period. Interludes are the perfect time to unwind, meet up, and connect with your musical community! (Featured drink will be available for purchase.)

THIS MONTH’S PAIRING: Prokofiev and Prosecco
Much like the divisions of the World Wars during the 20th century, the musical style also became divided—no single style dominated, providing an opportunity for a wide range of music composed during this time. Radio broadcasting, sound recording, and electric instruments, along with countries either beaten down by or feeling victorious from war, created a diverse environment for music to develop and transform. Join us for a “War and Peace” Interlude!

Guilt, Grief and Responsibility Ceremony for Non-POC Cancelled
Apr 25 @ 5:30 pm – 7:00 pm
THE BLOCK off biltmore

Note:
This event is being rescheduled because Bryan Stevenson, the attorney, activist and best-selling author who led the team that created the first national memorial to victims of lynching, will speak at UNC Asheville’s Kimmel Arena at 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 25. Doors will open at 6 p.m. Date TBA…
This opportunity is for caucasians (white people) who have been experiencing sadness, guilt and need to grieve. Violence and unfair treatment of POC (people of color) has been felt in black/Latinx communities for years. However, there are those of European descent who feel the guilt and shame of their ancestors and want to continue the fight against bigotry in all forms. These people, our allies and warriors, need a chance to emotionally cleanse by use of conversation and ceremony. Thanks for your continued responsibility and strength.-SuperVixen Conversationalist
