Patrick Dodd, a fan-favorite contestant from The Voice, will be joining us every Thursday to rock out with his band and the occasional special guest. Swing on by the Tasting Room for some southern-styled rock and jam influenced tunes, $3 pints of Highland Pilsner, and a limited small batch brew that we like to call For the Love of Dodd!
About Patrick Dodd
After years of honing his chops on Beale Street in Memphis, TN, Native Memphian, Patrick Dodd was recently thrust into the national spotlight as a contestant on NBC’s The Voice. Viewers loved his signature rasping growl that echoes with soul and heartfelt rocking rhythm that Dodd displayed on stage for a worldwide audience to hear! Viewers cried “Foul” when Dodd was eliminated from the show and demanded that he get on the road and tour.
Patrick and his band have been influenced by such gifted players as Gregg Allman, The Black Crowes, The Black Keys, Gov’t Mule and Derek Trucks along with soul icons like Steve Wonder and Ray Charles. The group gets every room moving, from the first note to the final guitar flourishes.

The fifth annual African Americans in Western North Carolina and Southern Appalachia Conference returns to Asheville this fall, offering scholars and the community an opportunity to illuminate the African American experience in Southern Appalachia. The conference receives funding from the The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, which awarded UNC Asheville a grant of $700,000 for public arts and humanities in 2017. Discover how to personalize your work with decorative techniques that will give each piece a unique finish! Using a rich clay body, along with colorful underglazes, slips, and more, we will explore how to control and enhance what happens under in final glazing process. The work made will be fired at a different mid-range temperature to reveal the beautiful reds and browns in the clay body along with the vibrancy of the added colors. We will discuss how to maintain different consistencies with the clay to accomplish various surface techniques. This class will allow students to be flexible in forming their work through hand building and wheel throwing. We will treat each piece as a canvas to explore what can happen under the glaze.
