12th Annual Lynn Boggess Exhibition At The Haen Gallery
Nov 10 @ 12:00 pm – 6:00 pm
The Haen Gallery

The Haen Gallery, located in downtown Asheville, North Carolina, is proud to present their 12th Annual Lynn Boggess Exhibition. The exhibit will run through November.

Lynn Boggess is one of the most unique and noteworthy American landscape painters of the 21st Century. He resides in West Virginia, a state whose diverse mountains, forests, and rivers provide abundant inspiration for the artist’s plein air paintings. In place of brushes he uses palette knives and trowels to thickly layer the broad sweeping strokes and exquisite fine detail that capture all the colors of the seasons in rushing rivers, snow covered hillsides, and thick forest vegetation. Mr. Boggess’ work is recognized internationally for its incredible three-dimensional texture, rendered solely in oils. These remarkable paintings combine elements of Abstract Expressionism and Photorealism to create a style that is totally unique and original.

The Haen Gallery in Asheville is located at 52 Biltmore Avenue between City Bakery and Chestnut. There is a parking garage at the Aloft hotel across the street, another garage just up the hill, as well as street parking.

The gallery is open Monday through Saturday 11am-6pm & Sunday 12-5pm. For more information: 828-254-8577 or www.thehaengallery.com. Gallery contacts: Chris Foley, Director; Leslie Logemann, Gallery Manager.

With locations in Asheville and Brevard, The Haen Gallery offers the work of established artists whose distinctive and unique style sets it apart from ordinary and imitative efforts. Visit the website at thehaengallery.com.

Anniversary Beer Release at Habitat Brewing!
Nov 10 @ 12:00 pm – 11:59 pm
Habitat Tavern and Commons

We are celebrating TWO YEARS of beer brewing and community building here Habitat Tavern and Commons this weekend! Join us for a double beer release in honor of our two years of being open.

THE BEERS:

The Habitat Pumpkin Ale is a big-bodied ale, one that hints at the great bounty of fall’s harvest, and is a tribute to all that Rayburn Farms grows for Asheville’s food and drink scene. This strong brown style ale balances sweetness with a dry mouth feel so that neither linger long. Matt uses his spices lightly for this beer, choosing to highlight notes of nutmeg and clove most. It’s boiled with Rayburn Farms roasting pumpkins, and we are excited to have this fall favorite on tap again this year.

Our newest fall offering is a pumpkin Gose! Habitat’s Pumpkin Gose is brewed with 100% Riverbend Malt House Malt and North Carolina candy roaster pumpkins from Rayburn Farms. Slightly salty and tart, this Gose offers a hint of pumpkins and spice and a bright golden color to match the fall sunlight coming through the trees. We can’t wait to share this with you on Saturday!

Both beers will be available on tap this Saturday, November 10th, until we run out. Cheers and see you soon!

Cold Mountain Release Weekend
Nov 10 @ 12:00 pm – 10:00 pm
Highland Brewing Company

It’s the most wonderful time of the year! Cold Mountain is almost here!

This year’s party will, as always, be a great celebration of this coveted brew, and your first opportunity to grab some before it’s gone!

Thursday 11/8, 3-10pm
Friday 11/9, 12-10pm
Saturday 11/10, 12-10pm

We’ve got some fun new additions this year, so for you Cold Mountain pros out there, the Cliff’s Notes version is in the next paragraph. New to this special event? Please read on for all the details.

First, packaged beer sales will take place IN THE MEADOW. We will have a large tent set up, and will have the Meadow bar open for beer sales starting at 12pm. PLEASE DO NOT BYOB. We don’t make the rules, but we try and follow ‘em. Starting at 9am, we’ll have a coffee and breakfast food truck on site for our early line folks, and a lunch food truck on site starting at 12pm to make sure you stay fed. There will be no tours or Crowler sales Thursday-Saturday.

WHAT’s so special about Thursday, Nov. 8?
That’s the day we release Cold Mountain Winter Ale! Cold Mountain, Imperial Cold Mountain, Coconut Cold Mountain and a fleet of Cold Mountain casks will flow in the Tasting Room, Event Center, and Rooftop Bar at 3pm. Can’t make it Thursday? Then join us on Friday at 12pm and Saturday at 12pm. We open at 12pm on Sunday for Cold Mountain on draft, but there will be no packaged beer allotment for that day.

WHEN and WHERE may I buy packaged Cold Mountain?
Packaged Cold Mountain goes on sale IN THE MEADOW, on Thursday, Nov. 8, starting at 3pm and will be available while that day’s supply lasts. We’ll have another supply of Cold Mountain available for purchase on Friday at 12pm and another allotment on Saturday at 12pm. We recommend getting here early to get in line to guarantee you get your packaged beer! We will have the bar open while you wait!

Will you run out of Cold Mountain?
Bottles – yes. We suggest arriving by (if not before!) Thursday at 3pm, Friday at 12pm or Saturday at 12pm for the best opportunity to purchase Cold Mountain. The line starts to form well before we open.
Pints – we’ll have enough to last through the weekend and up to a couple weeks later!

IMPERIAL COLD MOUNTAIN
You asked for it! Imperial Cold Mountain will be back in 22oz bottles, liters, and on draft this year! Get it before it’s gone! Just like Cold Mountain, this recipe has changed a bit from the previous year. It’s MAGICAL. We can’t wait to hear what you think! And that new package? SWOON.

WHEN may I buy Cold Mountain in a store or at a bar?
Starting Monday, Nov. 12, Cold Mountain will be available on draft and in packages at select retailers. As in past years, we have far more requests for this beer than we can fulfill.

HOW MUCH Cold Mountain may I purchase at the brewery, and what will it cost?
Cold Mountain:
One Cold Mountain 1-liter bottle ($13)
Three Cold Mountain 22oz bottles ($7 each)
One Cold Mountain 12-pack ($23)
Imperial Cold Mountain:
One Imperial Cold Mountain 1-liter bottle ($18)
Three Imperial Cold Mountain 22oz bottles ($10 each)

WHAT forms of payment may I use?
You may pay for your beer with cash or credit/debit card. No checks.

WHERE should I park?
Parking, like the beer, is first come first served. But do expect some traffic. We’ll have overflow parking, and parking attendants helping you get where you need to go.

Will there be any special Cold Mountain swag available?
Of course! We’ll have knit hats, awesome trucker hats, hoodies, t-shirts, long sleeves, and specialty glassware.

Should I expect a line?
Yes, you should 100% expect a line, and that’s part of the fun! We’ll do our very best to keep the lines moving, and let you know where you “stand” in line. If it looks like you’re on the fringe of getting beer from the daily supply, we’ll let you know. If it looks like you should probably head over to the Tasting Room to purchase a pint, we’ll let you know that, too. THE LINE WILL BE IN THE MEADOW THIS YEAR. You may want to bring a coat just in case

Is the Event Center open? Can I drink Cold Mountain on the roof? If so, how do I get to these cool places?
Yes, and yes! Enter from the outside of the building up the Event Center’s main stairs. You can follow the signs and people. How cool is it that you’ll be having a pint of Cold Mountain with views of Cold Mountain?!!

Qoya is a blend of dance, yoga, and sensual movement. It’s based on the idea that through movement we remember. We remember our essence is Wise, Wild and Free. Wise, drawing upon the ancient wisdom of yoga. Wild, that wild creative nature you feel when dancing for the pure joy of it. And Free, is the freedom to feel pleasure in the body; to move away from choreographing your movements, but instead, moving in a way that feels good and true, to you, and no one else.

In addition, we will be joined by Black Box Dance Theatre, a company from Raleigh that brings a new and unique vision to dance. In a powerful performance called Move to Action led by veteran, composer, and dance collaborator, Alfredo Hurtado, the troupe will portray Hurtado’s poignant story.
