We have been an active club since 1924. We currently have 65 active members of all collecting interests and meet once per month to share programs, auctions, ideas, buy, sell & trade stamps, and just plain camaraderie. Many of our members have extensive collecting, exhibiting, or speaking experience, and discussions are always interesting and rewarding. New and developing collectors will find an audience ready and willing to help with expanding one’s knowledge and enjoyment of the hobby.
Western North Carolina is in an interesting geographical location: we get visitors from the north during the winter, from the south during the summer, and many people who decide they’ve had enough of either of those climates to move here permanently! We urge visitors of any age with philatelic interests to join us, even if only for a short time. We may even convince you to enjoy our region full-time!

Dues are $10.00 a year and includes our bimonthly newsletter “The Smoky Mountain Philatelist”, complete membership list that includes “what we collect” and notices about our meetings with urging to attend and share your interest with us.

Grab your coats, hot coffee or hot chocolate, friends and family then come to PARI for an unforgettable winter night.

Originally from North Carolina and having just graduated college, Maddie Wiener is a stand-up comedian with a style described as “irreverent humor … with a streak of brazenness,” and “abrasive and likable at the same time.” At 23 years old, she was selected as a “New Face” at the 2021 Just For Laughs festival. Maddie has appeared on You Up with Nikki Glaser on Comedy Central’s Sirius XM channel, was a 2018 semi-finalist for Stand-Up NBC, and performed at the 2019 Limestone and Asheville Comedy Festivals. Most recently she taped a set for Comedy Central which will be airing later this year. Maddie currently resides in NYC.

Andy Sandford is a comedian who got funny in Atlanta, GA and is now based out of New York City. Andy has performed his jokes on Conan and The Late Late Show with James Corden, as well as other, less prestigious shows. Andy’s debut album, Me the Whole Time; was one of Splitsider’s “9 Best Standup Albums of The Year.” His hour special, “Shameful Information,” is currently featured on Amazon Prime. Sandford even played an animated version of himself on Adult Swim’s Aqua Teen Hunger Force.
