In Times of Seismic Sorrows
Nov 24 @ 10:00 am – 6:00 pm
Center for Craft

When reflecting on the current state of the environment, it seems that we have entered into times of seismic sorrows. Carbon emissions, water pollution, fracking, and changing climate patterns all point to a troubling reality with serious consequences for human and non-human populations. Through weavings, installations, sculpture, and print, artists Rena Detrixhe and Tali Weinberg (Tulsa, OK) explore the complex relationship between humans and the planet, offering insights, expressing grief, and creating space for resilience and change.

In Time of Seismic Sorrows is curated by Marilyn Zapf and organized by the Center for Craft. The Center for Craft is supported in part by the N.C. Arts Council, a division of the Department of Natural and Cultural Resources.

Forest Bathing
Nov 24 @ 11:00 am – 1:30 pm
Hominy Creek Greenway

Inspired by REI’s #optoutside campaign where they are closing their stores on Black Friday AND paying their employees to take the day off, I am offering Green Friday and Green Saturday forest bathing sessions. This is the time of year when self care is really important. Forest Bathing is the perfect addition to your self care routine.

You will awaken your senses and connect with nature as I guide you in a forest bathing session. Known in Japan as Shinrin Yoku, we will spend 2.5 hours immersed in nature, reawakening our senses, and disconnecting from our busy minds and lives. You will have a chance to slow down and deeply connect with the forest, yourself, and others. We will end our walk with a tea ceremony using foraged plants from our walk, and some delicious snacks. You will return feeling relaxed and having gained a new sense of awareness of the natural or non-human world.

Advanced registration required. Space is limited. Visit https://www.airbnb.com/experiences/203313 to reserve your spot.

12th Annual Lynn Boggess Exhibition At The Haen Gallery
Nov 24 @ 12:00 pm – 6:00 pm
The Haen Gallery

The Haen Gallery, located in downtown Asheville, North Carolina, is proud to present their 12th Annual Lynn Boggess Exhibition. The exhibit will run through November.

Lynn Boggess is one of the most unique and noteworthy American landscape painters of the 21st Century. He resides in West Virginia, a state whose diverse mountains, forests, and rivers provide abundant inspiration for the artist’s plein air paintings. In place of brushes he uses palette knives and trowels to thickly layer the broad sweeping strokes and exquisite fine detail that capture all the colors of the seasons in rushing rivers, snow covered hillsides, and thick forest vegetation. Mr. Boggess’ work is recognized internationally for its incredible three-dimensional texture, rendered solely in oils. These remarkable paintings combine elements of Abstract Expressionism and Photorealism to create a style that is totally unique and original.

The Haen Gallery in Asheville is located at 52 Biltmore Avenue between City Bakery and Chestnut. There is a parking garage at the Aloft hotel across the street, another garage just up the hill, as well as street parking.

The gallery is open Monday through Saturday 11am-6pm & Sunday 12-5pm. For more information: 828-254-8577 or www.thehaengallery.com. Gallery contacts: Chris Foley, Director; Leslie Logemann, Gallery Manager.

With locations in Asheville and Brevard, The Haen Gallery offers the work of established artists whose distinctive and unique style sets it apart from ordinary and imitative efforts. Visit the website at thehaengallery.com.

Belgian Red Ale – The base beer for our forthcoming bottle release of Liber Novus, this is our traditional Belgian red. Rich with deep fruity notes (cherry, red apple, and wild berry) are balanced with a malty backbone and a hint of spice. It’s slightly caramel-toffee sweet with a smooth finish of toasty bread and pie crust. Come try this before we release the barrel-aged version in a few weeks!

Intuitive Readings with Michael Thomas
Nov 24 @ 12:00 pm – 6:00 pm
Zen Ink

Intuitive Readings with Michael Thomas.

I have been blessed with the gift of empathy, insight and clairvoyance from an early age. At the age of 9 years old, as the result of being hit by a car, transitioned to a state of being a walk-in. A walk in is simply the process by which one soul has completed its journey on this plane and trades places with another.

Throughout my childhood I began to experience a more pronounced awakening and awareness of energy and vibrations beyond this earthly plane. While I knew the gifts to see beyond this plane were within me, it wasn’t until my early 20’s that the experiences of visions and out of body travel started to become more pronounced and more prevalent. At the age of 25 I was given a reading and told that if I did not start using my gifts, they would continue to poke and push me to do so more and more.

I heeded that advice and the Universe swiftly put me in the path of a wonderful and great teacher who became a great mentor. She lovingly opened her arms and my mind to learn and refine the skills of Tarot, Hypnosis for both past life and current life regression, clairaudience, psychometry, spiritual counseling, and healing.

For nearly 40 years I have used these gifts of spirit to help as many people as possible, as much as possible. Having come out of a professional sales/consultant background, I have been able to meld the gifts of spirit and the mundane world of business to not only assist people with matters of the heart, but with matters of how to improve their business acumen.

My goal is simple: to provide my clients with the information and tools to bring peace, awareness and understanding into their lives. To help solve their most pressing problems, to give them hope in alleviating their fears, lack or limitation. To do so in a peaceful, loving, respectful manner. I wish to be an instrument of peace for all whom I come in contact with and help light the way to understanding.

I look forward to the opportunity to assist you to live, to love and to grow in the peace and light of spirit.
