The Madness of March begins in Asheville. The Southern Conference Men’s and Women’s Basketball Championships return to Asheville March 2-6, 2023. The SoCon Basketball Championships produce some of the first tickets punched to the NCAA Men’s and Women’s Basketball Tournaments. Institutions that make up the Southern Conference are The Citadel, East Tennessee State University, Furman University, Mercer University, UNC Greensboro, Samford University, University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, Virginia Military Institute, Western Carolina University, and Wofford College. The Men’s Championship will consist of 10 teams participating in games from March 3-6. The Women’s Championship will consist of 8 teams participating in games on March 2,3 & 5.

  • Reserved Tournament Book – $250
  • Courtside Packages (All Sessions – $1,200 or $1,100) 
  • VIP All-Session Package (All Sessions – $350)
  • General Admission Tournament Book – $150
  • Reserved Single Session – $30/$40/$50

Summer Day Camp is a great option for kids ages 9-17 with any skill level to learn and practice on the iconic rivers and lakes of Western North Carolina. Paddlers from beginner to advanced will receive high-quality instruction from our elite team while having fun and making friends.

 

Adult Beginner Tennis Classes

Hendersonville Racquet Club

Hendersonville Racquet Club is offering a four week series of classes for adult beginner tennis players starting March 4th.  Try Tennis is a tennis instruction program for beginners.  The Saturday morning classes are 11:30 am until 1 pm.  The cost is $40 for the four weeks and includes six hours of instruction, a tennis racquet and a Try Tennis t-shirt or towel.  THIS PROGRAM USUALLY SELLS OUT BECAUSE OF LIMITED SPACE AVAILABILITY.

“Try Tennis is a great program we do in partnership with the NC USTA.  Their help allows new players to get from couch to court in six weeks at half the price it would normally cost…plus they get a t-shirt and racquet! We will teach you the right way to play with certified tennis pros.  This is a great program to get into tennis for adults.” stated HRC Director of Adult Tennis Cre Still.

2023 SEC Women’s Basketball Tournament

The Southeastern Conference has announced a three-year contract with Greenville, S.C. to host the SEC Women’s Basketball Tournament in 2023, 2024 and 2025

 

A face value reserved ticket book for the tournament, to be held at Bon Secours Wellness Arena is $130. A ticket book contains seven tickets, one for each session, which allows one person to attend all 13 games. All ticket prices are subject to additional taxes and fees and can be purchased hereSeating for sessions 1-3 is General Admission. Single session tickets, if available, will go on sale in February.

Our new monthly run group is perfect for runners of all levels, ages, and paces. Whether you’re just starting out or a seasoned veteran, come join us on Thursday morning, March 9th at 8:30 am at Bill Moore Community Park (formerly Fletcher Park) and start clocking those miles.

Each month we will explore a new spot in the area to meet up and run together. We will always run on a weekday morning, so that you won’t miss out on your evening and weekend group runs that you already have on your schedule!

We know that staying healthy isn’t just about our physical bodies – it’s about community too. That’s why we’re focusing on creating a strong sense of camaraderie among runners in the area. Whether you want to run 3 miles or push yourself with longer distance goals, our group will be there to support you every step of the way. Of course, the best part is that the meet-ups are free!

After a three year hiatus, Bike Love, AoB’s annual gala event, returns on Saturday, March 11th to Highland Brewing Company. The event stirs the passions of the Asheville’s cycling community and welcomes the return of Spring riding.

This year’s event includes the music of JLoyd MashUp featuring April B and Dj JutRut, a cycle centric raffle and silent auction, and a photo booth hosted by South Slope Acupuncture.
