Brandon “Taz” Niederauer

Fifteen-year-old Brandon Niederauer, nicknamed “Taz” for his ferocious guitar playing, is living proof that dreams really do come true. Having performed in some of the most legendary venues in America with many of the most prominent musicians of our time, the young guitarist, singer, and songwriter has already earned himself quite the reputation.

It all started at eight years old, when Brandon watched the movie School of Rock. Already inspired by his father’s record collection, Brandon instantly realized he was destined to play guitar. From that moment on, his guitar rarely left his hands. Just four years later, Brandon was cast in the principal role of guitarist “Zack Mooneyham” in the Tony Award-nominated Andrew Lloyd Webber Broadway production, School of Rock the Musical.

Based in New York City, Brandon has had the opportunity to play with many of his musical idols. In recent years, he’s shared the stage with multiple members of the Allman Brothers Band, including Gregg Allman, Derek Trucks, Warren Haynes, Butch Trucks, and Oteil Burbridge, as well as a variety of other notable musicians, including Buddy Guy, Stevie Nicks, Lady Gaga, Slash, Jon Batiste, Dweezil Zappa, Eric Gales, George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic, Dr. John, Gary Clark Jr., Col. Bruce Hampton, Eric Krasno, George Porter Jr., Robert Randolph, Karl Denson, Doug Wimbish, and John Popper. He has also performed with Tedeschi Trucks Band, The String Cheese Incident, Umphrey’s McGee, The Revivalists, Dumpstaphunk, Blackberry Smoke, Galactic, and countless other bands.

Since making his national television debut on The Ellen DeGeneres Show at just ten years old, Brandon has appeared on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Good Morning America, and The View. In 2018, Brandon reunited with Andrew Lloyd Webber, performing in January with Sarah Brightman at The Phantom of the Opera’s 30th Anniversary celebration, and in April alongside Sara Bareilles, Alice Cooper, and John Legend in NBC’s live broadcast production of Jesus Christ Superstar. Brandon is currently featured in Spike Lee’s Netflix series, She’s Gotta Have It, and performs concerts for audiences across the country and around the world.

Eliot Lipp / Joe Nice
Feb 22 @ 9:00 pm – 11:30 pm
Salvage Station

Opening: Murkury

Eliot Lipp / Joe Nice

Eliot Lipp is a producer, DJ and sound designer. After more than a decade living in Chicago, Los Angeles, and San Francisco (but equally home on the road), the intrepid producer has landed in beautiful Brooklyn. He’s been spending most of his time collaborating with musicians, DJing, performing and grinding in the studio. There’s no particular style of electronic music that takes the focus but there’s always a good amount of hip-hop and funk influences. Over the years Lipp has developed a palette of electronic beats & soulful samples while crafting a unique style.

Representing Baltimore, MD, USA, JoeNice is universally recognized as the ambassador of the dubstep sound in North America and has been instrumental in the global growth and success of dubstep for over a decade. He is North America’s first and most respected dubstep DJ.

Joe started playing dubstep in June 2001 with a collective of Baltimore dj’s, the 2 Charming Crew. Nice earned a residency at Sonar Baltimore and was headlining local, regional and national shows shortly thereafter. In September 2003, JoeNice co-created a monthly internet radio show on GourmetBeats.com. His show was the first to feature dubstep in North America. In June 2005, while gigging and doing internet radio, Nice co-founded and was a resident DJ at the first dubstep night in North America, DubwarNYC.

JoeNice is the first American-based DJ to play on the London pirate radio station, Rinse FM. He was also the first American-based DJ to play the legendary DMZ bi-monthly bash and Forward. In 2007, he was proudly selected as one of URB magazine’s NEXT 100. In July 2011, Nice co-founded and was named a resident DJ at a new dubstep night in New York City, Reconstrvct. In May 2012, Joe transitioned his monthly radio show from Gourmetbeats.com to the award-winning SubFM, where his GourmetBeats radio show can be heard on the second Tuesday of each month, 7pm – 9pm EST.

Since 2001, JoeNice has performed extensively across the globe and his worldwide fan base continues to grow with his enthusiastic live performance and stage presence, upfront selection and skillful mixing. His bag of 10″ dubplates is a who’s who of dubstep. If you’ve never heard it before, chances are you’ll hear it from JoeNice.

Feb 22 @ 10:00 pm – Feb 23 @ 2:00 am
The One Stop at Asheville Music Hall

Genre: Funk/Soul
Cover: Donations @ Door
Show: 10PM
Ages: 21+

The Aquaducks

The Aquaducks have been making waves in and around Music City as a high octane funk and soul band with a live energy that is rarely matched. The Ducks’ first two singles “Nightlife” and “Bill’s Toupée” immediately caught the attention of local radio station Lighting 100, and have continued to receive regular air play. Described by Brooklyn, NY blog Pancakes and Whiskey as “Dripping with enough funk to fill several swimming pools,” The Aquaducks have created a new sound with influences ranging from Earth Wind & Fire and Stevie Wonder to Lettuce and James Brown.

The Fall of 2016 has seen The Aquaducks’ song “What’s Goodington” featured the movie trailer for “Baked in Brooklyn” as well as the release of their debut full length live album “Live at the Beast.” Fans new and old are now able to experience the high energy show that has critics calling them “probably one of the best duck-themed funk bands of all time.” In the meantime, if The Aquaducks are playing in your town, put on some dancing shoes and go see one of the best live bands that Nashville has to offer.

*Assembly Required: Ashevile Designer Toy Expo
Feb 23 all-day
Highland Brewing Company

Adding a Southeast destination for designer toy makers and collectors, *Assembly Required brings designer, bootleg and art toy artists from around the country, to present and sell their work.

Asheville’s premiere designer toy expo, *Assembly Required, is presented by Unboxing Asheville, Morgan’s Comic’s, 103.3 Asheville FM and Appalachian Pinball Museum. Focusing on this artistic movement, designer toys are a form of lowbrow pop art. These toy makers pull inspiration from a variety of subversive segments of culture, as well as subcultural elements, including (but not limited to) comics, tattooing, street art, and everything related to toys of the 60’s through the 80’s.

Echoing production methods of traditional toy manufacturers, designer toys are usually intended to be displayed as collectibles, rather than to be played with. Toy makers mediums range from resin to vinyl, from plastic to plush; with molding, and production techniques such as kitbash, sofubi and bootleg (recently coined ‘Artisanal Action Figure’, by New York Times writer, Rich Juzwiak [11/23/18]). (https://www.nytimes.com/2018/11/23/style/bootleg-toys-action-figures.html).

Juzwiak interviews such artists as the Sucklord and Killer Bootlegs, both of whom will be present at *Assembly Required.

Joseph McDowell Historical Catawba Greenway Cleanup
Feb 23 @ 8:45 am – 12:00 pm
Joseph McDowell Historical Catawba Greenway

We are all happy to have the Joseph McDowell Historical Catawba Greenway open after several closures due to flooding. The City of Marion Public Works has done an outstanding job of cleaning silt and debris from the greenway.

The floods of the past few months has deposited debris in the trees along the greenway, especially on the side away from the river. The MTA is sponsoring a cleanup day along the greenway on Saturday, February 23 from 9:00 AM – 12:00.

If you want to help, meet at the parking area at the McDowell House (east end) or the parking area at the west end at Sam Phillips Drive at 8:45. Clean up will begin from each parking area.

We will provide trash bags for the cleanup. Bring gloves and wear study shoes.

For more details or if you have questions, contact us at [email protected].

Thanks for pitching in and helping keep our greenway clean!
