Join Asheville Sex Workers Outreach Project in developing their plan to advocate for sex workers in the Asheville area.
The Asheville Sex Worker Outreach Project (ASWOP) is a community coalition that stands for the rights and health of sex workers by connecting them to services and support. This coalition includes active or former sex workers, community members, and a variety of community partners.
ASWOP follows a harm reduction model, and believes that all individuals deserve to be safe. In that vein, we seek to work with individuals at a high risk for sexual violence, who are also a part of a stigmatized group in society.

In partnership with Warren Wilson College, AMOS is excited to bring a special three-part series on sustainability through its popular Science Pub: Sustainable Communities through Healthy Building Design, Clean Energy, and Land Stewardship series taking place in June, July, and August, all located at The Collider in downtown Asheville.
On Thursday, August 22, Dave Ellum, Dean of Land Resources at Warren Wilson College will present about innovative land management practices for land owners and those interested in stewarding the land for sustainable agriculture and agroforestry. Dave will facilitate an expert panel of Warren Wilson alumni managing local businesses and partnerships in land management.
Science Pub events are now on Thursdays! They are free to the public, with free drinks and light snacks, thanks to the generous sponsorship of The Collider, Wicked Weed Brewing, Ingles Markets, and the Buncombe County Tourism Development Authority. Doors open at 5:30 PM, and talks begin at 6 PM.

A one-of-a-kind evening of music, stories and fellowship all in support of our Tennent Scholarship, a needs-based scholarship that assists high-performing Asheville High seniors with first semester college tuition.
The evening will boast fantastic music lead by four Nashville songwriters: Kyle Jacobs, Lauren Jenkins, Dan Smalley and Phillip Lammonds.
Throughout the evening they will share with the audience how songs were written and interactions with the famous musicians we have come to know.

We’ve partnered with our friend and smoking master, Shelton Steele, for a special smoking series to help you elevate your barbecue game.
In this fun and educational class, we’ll take a closer look at how to smoke chicken. Learn the different tools, techniques, tips, and myths of what it takes to make the best barbecue. After all, it’s easy to make good barbecue, but it’s the extra knowledge and experience that can make it great.
Shelton’s smoking classes are designed to teach barbecue as a life skill. The classes will cover the fundamentals of slow-and-low barbecue, while also sharing the competition tricks and techniques that create consistency every time you cook.
In this class you’ll:
-Learn the nuances of using different ingredients for smoked chicken, including the differences between using charcoal vs. wood and different kinds of rubs
-Get advice on how to build a great smoking fire for the smoker you have or are looking to buy
-Discover how time and temperature affect the end taste and texture
-Enjoy tasty, smoked chicken prepared during class
-Meet Shelton and ask questions!
-Enjoy locally-sourced beverages including beer and wine, plus house made and local charcuterie and cheese

Help the Tranzmission Prison Project distribute free literature to incarcerated members of the LGBTQ community! Every fourth Thursday of the month volunteers meet from 6-8pm, preparing packages of books and zines for mailing to prisons across the United States. Books have already been selected for each inmate, you just need to help get them wrapped and addressed.

Buddhagraph Spaceship is an American rock band from Asheville, North Carolina with roots stretching from the old time to the far side and all foundations between. Creating a bridge between acoustic and electronic improvisation, they blend elements of Funk, Jam, Folk, Bluegrass, Gypsy Jazz, Americana, Progressive Rock, Reggae, and much more to achieve their eclectic sound. With a passion for creativity and the motivation to push boundaries, the band functions upon a musical paradigm for the further of artistic expression.
Buddhagraph Spaceship was created in the spring of 2014 and has since been an active influence on the East Coast music scene.

Joe Benjamin
Active as bandleader in New York City since the mid 2010s, Joe Benjamin has built many different worlds for his music to live in. Until only a few years ago, he led a massive, genre-bending 11-piece orchestra, whose sheer mass was its own spectacle. As Joe’s style has evolved, his arrangements have become more streamlined, and his new music replaces the cacophony of reeds and brass with a tight three-piece horn section and back-up singers, just as it replaces the bombastic and madcap swing rhythms of his former project with irresistibly danceable grooves and earworm hooks.
While his newest work is heavily influenced by funk and soul bands such as Jamiroquai and Earth, Wind & Fire, Joe Benjamin has a sound all his own, and it is his intoxicating and idiosyncratic style that has brought him on sold-out tours throughout Europe and the United States (the most pertinent of which is his forthcoming summer 2019 tour) and given him a dedicated fanbase at home in New York City. Together with his rhythm section (Ray Cetta, Tom Wilson and Michael Gordon), Joe has written a new album that showcases his previously under-displayed talent for creating searing, insistent grooves, catchy hooks and expansive soundscapes with no frills or pretensions- just the raw, captivating power that Benjamin has always been known for.
