Asheville – Day of Reparations to African People
Nov 5 @ 5:30 pm – 7:30 pm
Firestorm Books & Coffee

The Days of Reparations to African People is an annual, international speaking tour to raise white reparations to African (black) people and discuss how we as white people can be in genuine solidarity with African liberation. It is a campaign by the African Peoples Solidarity Committee and its mass organization, the Uhuru Solidarity Movement, both founded and led by the African People’s Socialist Party.

WHERE: Firestorm Books and Coffee, Community Room, 610 Haywood Rd, Asheville, NC, 28806
WHEN: Monday, November 5, 2018 at 5:30-7:30pm
REGISTER: AshevilleDayOfReparations2018.eventbrite.com

Featuring video presentations:
Keynote Speaker: Omali Yeshitela, Chairman of the African People’s Socialist Party
Also speaking:
Penny Hess, Chairwoman of the African People’s Solidarity Committee
Jesse Nevel, Chair of the Uhuru Solidarity Movement

Hosted by the Uhuru Solidarity Movement, Asheville
Follow on social media: @uhurusolidarity

As white people, we must answer:
Will we go down with a dying system built on 600 years of slavery and genocide of African people and the peoples of the world whom we have colonized, bombed, raped, burned, lynched, and shot? Will we go down with this system that is exploiting the world and killing the planet?
Or will we join the future, join humanity, and stand in solidarity with African and colonized peoples’ liberation through paying reparations to African people? Will we return the resources we have stolen for 600 years, resources we have used to build this system of rape and violence? Will we return African people’s own resources, which they will use to build and achieve their own self-determination and liberation?
Will you side with white nationalism? Or side with the African (black) working class?
The line is drawn.
If you choose to be a part of the future, to take responsibility as a white person and build a world in which no one lives at the expense of anyone else –
Build the Days of Reparations to African People.
The Days of Reparations to African People is the biggest annual campaign held every year by the African People’s Solidarity Committee (APSC) and its mass organization the Uhuru Solidarity Movement (USM), both of which were created by and are accountable to the African People’s Socialist Party (APSP).
Chairman Omali Yeshitela of the African People’s Socialist Party will lead this national tour with keynote presentations on the responsibility of white people to answer the reparations demand. Yeshitela has led the African liberation movement for almost 50 years. He has built a strong and growing national and international movement in the face of the repressive U.S. government counterinsurgency against the black community.
Joining Chairman Omali Yeshitela and leaders of the African People’s Socialist Party will be Chairwoman Penny Hess of the African People’s Solidarity Committee, the first white person to take a genuine stand of reparations to African people and author of “Overturning the Culture of Violence.” USM’s Chair Jesse Nevel, known around the world for running for mayor on a platform of “Unity Through Reparations” in St. Petersburg, FL.,will join the tour as well.

The reparations raised by USM go to the economic and social programs of the African People’s Socialist Party, led by Deputy Chair Ona Zené Yeshitela, through Black Star Industries and its main campaign the Black Power Blueprint.
The Black Power Blueprint is fighting gentrification by buying up abandoned buildings the State has left to ruin and creating black community institutions for economic development and self-government. African workers and contractors contribute their time and resources to the Black Power Blueprint and have built a beautiful black community center in the heart of the impoverished and oppressed African community in St. Louis. This is truly a win for all African people and a stand against the fierce ravages of gentrification.

Upcoming programs worldwide include black community housing, black community gardens, African marketplaces, the new headquarters for Uhuru Foods and Pies, the Uhuru Jiko Commercial Kitchen, Uhuru Bakery and Cafe, the African Liberation Workforce Program, and so much else for African people to come together under their own leadership and create and determine their own futures and end their own oppression.
As white people, we have the responsibility to build the Days of Reparations to African People to do all we can to pay and raise reparations for these beautiful institutions and programs for a liberated African economy upon which real African liberation from parasitic white power can be built.

JOIN the Days of Reparations to African People committee by emailing [email protected]!
Attend Days of Reparations to African People this October and November!

Beyond Intention: Making practice, practical
Nov 5 @ 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm
Jubilee Community Church

You have your star chart, know your purpose and did mantra, kriya and meditation this morning… now what?
In this intimate workshop, Daniel will share insights on the power of the Beyond Intention paradigm in translating spiritual practice across a range of modalities into a full and purpose driven life of joy.

..

The Beyond Intention paradigm is a simple four phased system designed to empower you in the pursuit of a joyful, purpose driven life, by breaking through physical, mental, emotional and energetic stuck states. It helps deal with anything from relationship breakups, anxiety and business decisions to stress anger management and procrastination and can be applied to most forms of blockage.

..

Those who apply the Beyond Intention have a simple formula that can bring them to a place in their life where joy is the new norm, and in this workshop, Daniel will specifically teach how the Beyond Intention paradigm can be directed at creating a framework to ground spiritual practices into everyday life with grace and ease, maximising the beautiful benefits of a balanced life.

Pet Loss and Grief Support Group
Nov 5 @ 7:00 pm – 8:30 pm
Animal Hospital of North Asheville

Losing a pet friend and companion can be heartbreaking. Whether it is a sudden or planned goodbye, it is an emotional time. We understand the strength and specialness of the animal-human bond. Starting in January we will be hosting a Pet Loss Grief Support Group presented by Four Seasons Compassion for Life. This group will be for anyone who is grieving the loss of an animal companion and needs further support.

We want to welcome Kathy Link, a licensed clinical social worker at Four Seasons. Four Seasons provides a continuum of care across eleven counties in Western North Carolina, including Buncombe County. They provide care navigation, home care, palliative care, hospice care, community bereavement support, and clinical research. Kathy is very excited to be the first facilitator of the newly formed Four Seasons Pet Loss Grief Support Group in Buncombe County. She is supported by an entire team of community bereavement professionals including other licensed clinical social workers, chaplains, and music therapists.

Like many of us, Kathy has been touched by the loss of a canine companion and found a passion for helping families with their grief.

When I was going back to school to become a social worker, my beloved 16-year-old Shih-Tzu passed away after a sudden illness. Her name was Bailey. I’ll never forget the struggle of attempting to attend classes while grieving the loss of my pet. And I’ll never forget the professor who told me through my weeping apologies of what I thought to be inappropriate tears at an inappropriate place that grieving the loss of a pet is one of the most difficult processes that people go through in our culture, and that when we lose our pets, we need the same level of support – and sometimes even more – as when we lose a human. I am truly honored to provide that support to my community. – Kathy

Ben Rector – Magic: The Tour
Nov 5 @ 7:30 pm – 10:30 pm
Peace Center

You know magic when you see it, touch it, or hear it. Singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Ben Rector uncovers that feeling with anthems equally rooted in whimsical nostalgia and excitement for the future.

In 2013, The Walking In Between marked his first Top 20 debut on the Billboard Top 200. His ceaseless touring and prolific output paid off in a big way on his 2015 breakout album, Brand New. Not only did it bow at #9 on the Billboard Top 200, but it yielded a massive hit in the form of the title track, “Brand New.” Clocking 41 million-plus streams on Spotify, the single organically landed over 40 film and television placements, including a trailer for The Edge of Seventeen, a TV spot for Disney’s Moana, and MLB World Series and Olympics primetime spots.

His seventh full-length album, Magic, will be released June 22.
