Embodiment: Moving Through the Tissues
Feb 26 @ 6:00 pm – 7:30 pm
The Shift Studio

We all know that muscles make us move, but do we know what it feels like to be in all our tissues when we move? What does it feel like when we focus on our skin, fascia, or bones? In this 4-week series we will explore what it feels like to initiate movement from different tissues and to “listen” to what each “says”. We will also explore what it feels like to “share energy” throughout the rest of the body with areas that feel depleted or less energetic than others.

Feb 26 @ 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm
Malaprop's Bookstore/Cafe

Susi Gott Séguret presents Child of the Woods: An Appalachian Odyssey

Child of the Woods is a uniquely beautiful collection of short stories and observations from Susi Seguret’s experiences growing up in the natural settings of rural Appalachia.

Immerse yourself in the vibrant and exciting world of Appalachia! Child of the Woods is an exploration of the world through the eyes of a young child, whose life was defined and enriched by nature that surrounded her. This collection of short stories and insights highlights the wonders of growing up in rural Appalachia, learning to live as one with the land. These stories embrace the universal themes of self-discovery, adventure, and finding one’s place in a living world.

Susi Gott Séguret was born and raised in the woods of the Appalachian Mountains, in Western North Carolina. During her 20-year trek around Europe spent honing her culinary expertise, Susi remained connected to nature, hunting mushrooms in the forèt d’Orleans and bouldering in the forèt de Fontainebleau. Today, Susi leads foraging expeditions in Blue Ridge and teaches others how to blend the elegance of French cuisine with the simplicity of mountain ingredients. She is the author of Appalachian Appetite.

We ask that you purchase the books you want to be signed at our events from Malaprop’s. When you do this you are not only supporting the work it takes to run an events program, you are also telling the publishers that they should keep sending authors here.
