CEO Roundtable: Meeting + Orientation
Jan 30 @ 4:00 pm – 5:00 pm
The Chamber
Please join us for this orientation reception and organizational meeting for the 2024 CEO Roundtable.
The CEO Roundtable is a group of 10-12 business owners/decision-makers who meet on a monthly basis to discuss business issues and act as one another’s Board of Advisors. The concept is to have these owners share helpful information with each other to the benefit of all involved.
Roundtable groups are confidential so that sensitive information can be discussed without worry of disclosure. The groups are also limited to non-competing businesses. The Chamber’s role in the CEO Roundtable program is to organize and support the groups. It is up to the members of each group to decide meeting schedules and agendas. Typically groups will allow each member to host a meeting and select topics of discussion.

Ribbon Cutting: YMCA Nutrition Outreach Hub
Jan 31 @ 4:00 pm – 5:00 pm
YMCA of Western North Carolina

The YMCA of Western North Carolina’s Community Health team delivers fresh, healthy food at no charge to hundreds of families in a five-county area. Their mobile food markets are set up like free farmers markets at dozens of locations each month. They ask no questions and place no limits on the amount of food each person chooses. In addition to food, they share tasty recipes, practical cooking demonstrations, and valuable nutrition information that’s easy to understand. The Y is also part of the statewide Healthy Opportunity Pilot (HOP) to address food insecurity for managed Medicaid participants. We prepare and deliver meal boxes that contain a week’s worth of nutritious food, simple recipes, and tips for food storage and cooking. The Nutrition Outreach Hub is their home base for food donation, sorting, and packing.

The YMCA of Western North Carolina is celebrating 10 years of delivering fresh, healthy food at no charge to the community. This work is centered at their Nutrition Outreach Hub, which recently moved into its new home on Riverside Drive. Elected officials, community members, and the media are invited to attend the space’s grand opening and ribbon cutting to learn more about how the Y is improving access to healthy local food. Light refreshments will be served.

Buncombe County new vendor portal
Feb 27 all-day
online

Are you interested in doing business with Buncombe County or learning about outreach opportunities for your business? If so, Buncombe County’s new vendor portal has upgraded features so vendors can now self-register with a variety of new options. The new portal will also make it easier for all vendors to access information to bid on contracts, get updates, manage contract information, view existing contracts, and more. Additionally, updated commodity codes will allow vendors to identify what goods and services they provide, allowing the County to better determine who to solicit and increase participation in the bidding process.

In an effort to continually increase the County’s commitment to equity, one of its 2025 Strategic Plan priorities, vendors can self-identify as a Woman/Minority Business Enterprise (WMBE) or Historically Under Utilized Business (HUB).

You can visit Buncombe County’s new and improved vendor portal here. If you have any questions, please contact [email protected].
