Sponsor a child for the holidays
Nov 1 all-day
Eliada Homes
Help Make a Child Smile this Holiday Season!
Eliada works hard to make the holidays a special time for the children in our care. You can help bring a smile to their face by fulfilling their holiday wishes!

Sponsor a Child:

When you sign up to sponsor a child for the holidays, you’ll receive a Wish List that a young person created. Wish Lists include their favorite things, clothing sizes, and most needed and wanted items. The value of a Wish List is around $200. You can divide that cost with friends, or even sponsor several children.

For most of Eliada’s children and youth, the gifts they receive from sponsors are the only gifts they will get during the holiday season.

To sign up to sponsor, please contact Rebecca Boline by email at [email protected].

Sponsor Multiple Children:

We also have Wish Lists which include items that children will need here at Eliada depending on what program they are in.

Cottage wish lists for youth living at Eliada, for example, include toiletries, bedding and towels, books, games, art supplies, suitcases and kitchen utensils. Many children come to Eliada with a few clothes in a garbage bag. Together we can provide them things that every home should have!

Other wish lists are for our Child Development programs, Foster Care program, Farm program, Summer Camp program, and Recreation programs. Our Equine Therapy program also has some needs this holiday season! We never know when we’ll get a call for a child in Foster Care who needs a home immediately. Let’s help Foster Parents provide these children everything they deserve!

Sponsor a last minute wish:

Some youth living at Eliada won’t arrive until right before the holidays! We won’t receive their wish lists until mid-late November. Can you sign up to help one of these teens at the last minute?

If you don’t have time to shop, Eliada will use your donation to purchase gifts for children who may arrive at Eliada very close to Christmas or right after Christmas. It shouldn’t matter when you arrive at Eliada–your wishes should be fulfilled! You can make a donation here. In the comment field, write “holiday wishes.”

To sign up to sponsor multiple children or a teen at the last minute, please contact Rebecca Boline by email at rboline@eliada.org or by phone at (828) 254-5356, ext. 306.

ABOUT SANTA’S SHOPPE

Established in 1989, Santa’s Shoppe is the signature fundraising event for the Junior League of Spartanburg, Inc. (JLS), for which all proceeds are used to support our community projects. Held annually each November, thousands of shoppers head to the Spartanburg Memorial Auditorium in downtown Spartanburg to find the perfect gifts from over 60 merchants and a chance to snap the perfect picture with Santa during Cookies with Santa.

The three-day shopping event raised over $48,000 in 2021 to support our mission and community projects, which includes Mini-Grants for Teachers, and literacy and school readiness across Spartanburg County.

Santa’s Shoppe would not be a success without the support of our many shoppers and wonderful merchants who travel across South Carolina and beyond. We are thankful for your continued support!

This holiday season, MANNA is dedicated to filling as many holiday tables as possible, and you can help us give thousands of households the gift of a holiday, of one less struggle, and a helping of hope.

This year we have two options for donations: an in-person donation on November 4th and an ongoing virtual turkey drive.

In partnership with Asheville Radio Group and Asheville Outlets, MANNA will be hosting a community-wide turkey drop-off drive!

Bring a bird and any non-perishable holiday sides to help feed a neighbor. You’ll be able to drive through and drop your donations without even leaving your car!

If you can’t make it on November 4, we still happily welcome donations through our Virtual Turkey Drive. Together, we can make the holidays happen for the people who live and work right here at home, in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains.

Ritual of Remembrance
Nov 4 @ 5:00 pm
Dreaming Stone Arts and Ecology Center

Dreaming Stone Arts and Ecology Center is excited to announce “Ritual of Remembrance”, a performance and evening of remembrance for our loved ones that will take place on Nov 4th starting at 5pm. This offering features the Chicken Bank Collective, a group of six artists from the US and Mexico who weave communities across borders through the art of movement. After their performance, the Mexican members of the CBC will share cultural traditions associated with Día de los Muertos, including the delicious pan de muerto and Mexican hot chocolate. We will lift up the holy days within various cultures and traditions that dedicate these fall days to honoring those who have gone before.

The evening begins with a site-specific land based performance, “Memories and Murmurations”, where the audience migrates through natural terrain and encounters the land’s dreams, embodied. These murmurations echo legacies lodged within the land, within our bodies, and within our collective imaginations.

After sharing a potluck, our “Ritual of Remembrance” will be a collective act of beauty making, honoring those we have lost, and is an annual tradition of Dreaming Stone’s. All who gather are welcome to share stories of deceased loved ones. All are invited to add to a communal ‘ofrenda’, with pictures of those you want to remember. The evening encourages all to contribute to a practice of collective meaning making.

Space is limited, so you must register in advance. Participants are encouraged (not required) to bring a potluck dish and pictures of those you want to remember. Wear shoes for walking on uneven surfaces. Dress warm, wear layers, bring a chair.

To attend, RSVP at https://dreamingstone.org/events/chicken-bank-collective/. Donations from this event (suggested amount of $20 per person) go to supporting the Chicken Bank Collective’s local residency, which includes music and mural painting downtown, and offerings within Rutherford County schools.
