Verner Center for Early Learning needs volunteers!

For over 20 years, Verner Center is a local nonprofit in Asheville that primarily serves children ages 0-5 years who are living in high-risk vulnerable situations. They have a variety of needs – ranging from holding babies, helping with clerical duties, keeping their library tidy and up to date with books donated, teaching the children in the garden they have planted, general upkeep and maintenance of the garden, and reading with the children.

They have two locations – one in Swannanoa and one in West Asheville.

Please join us as Reverend Scott Rogers unveils plans for the expansion of Transformation Village (TrV) campus and programs. TrV provides homeless women and children transitional housing, healthy meals, education, and support in a safe environment. Tours will be given after our presentation. Guest host for this show is the fantastically loved Ryan Cox! Slice is super happy to have him running the show. Ryan is a comedian’s comedian. He is also a comedian for people who aren’t comedians. Ryan has been performing stand-up around the Southeast since 2016, with jokes ranging from crafted one-liners to twisted parenting tales to the ghost of Kmart.

Dauood Naimyar recently taped a Comedy Central stand-up set in February and can next be seen in Comedy Central’s TALES FROM THE TRIP. Last year, Dauood was just a New Face at Just For Laughs 2022. Dauood’s comedic perspective is shaped by the duality of his constant need to fit in, and his relentless desire to be different. His search for being relatable, yet controversial has brought audiences joy for nine years- and will probably continue until he finally figures out who he is. We hope he doesn’t, ‘cause bills need to be paid. Dauood also has over 150K followers on TikTok and keeps building a large audience.

Trey Kennedy is a born and raised Oklahoman who never expected to enter the entertainment industry. While attending college at Oklahoma State University, Trey found fame on the mobile app Vine, amassing more than 2.5 million followers. He was a top creator on the app for more than three years and, through this experience, discovered a passion for entertainment.

Trey has now continued his social media success on platforms such as Instagram and TikTok where he has a combined 12+ million followers. He currently has a podcast titled “Correct Opinions” and just concluded a sold-out comedy tour selling out cities across the United States. Trey’s self-produced comedy special “Are You For Real?” can now be streamed on YouTube. He hopes to continue creating fun and relatable content in order to deliver some joy where it’s needed and help people find some common ground through comedy.

White Horse is excited to launch a new Comedy Series for your enjoyment. The series kicks off with the hilarious stand-up comic from Atlanta Georgia…. ZAIN SHARIF.

Zain Sharif is an Atlanta-based stand-up comedian, writer, and actor. Zain started improv with Dad’s Garage before pivoting to stand-up and sketches in 2014. In 2016, he worked for Adult Swim and was credited on multiple shows, including Your Pretty Face and Squidbillies.

Zain directs weekly sketches and stand-up for his 50,000 YouTube and 150,000 Tik-Tok subscribers, clocking in 40 million views so far. He features regularly at The Laughing Skull and The Punchline.

Ginny Hogan is an NYC-based writer and stand up comic. She’s a contributor for The New Yorker, The Atlantic, The Cut, The New York Times, Cosmopolitan, The Observer, McSweeney’s, The Daily Beast, Vulture, and Comedy Central. Forbes profiled her as a rising satire star, and she was on Paste’s list of top humorists. She now touring with her one-woman stand-up show, Regression: Overanalyzing 30 Years of Skewed Data, which she’s bringing to the Edinburgh Fringe this summer (tickets here). She’s recording her first stand up special in October 13th in NYC, get tickets here!

She has a new book for Chronicle out Fall 2023.

In 2021, Ginny wrote Yes We Mustard, an Audible Original scripted comedy about a corrupt condiments tech startup. It was selected for their Best of 2021 list, and was rated their #1 comedy in 2021. In 2019, Ginny published a book of humorous essays, Toxic Femininity in the Workplace, with HarperCollins, which was included on Vulture’s list of top 10 comedy books of 2019.
