She hopes others take advantage of this valuable, free service.

Anthony received his Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Frostburg State University. His writing has been featured in Journey Christian Magazine and The Salisbury Post. Most Saturdays he can be found at a local book store working on his nonfiction book. He has been a proud resident of western North Carolina for eight years.

We’ll start with the basic principles of this approach. Then you will learn and practice some basic skills. This will be followed by a longer guided meditation where you can incorporate the basic skills. Participants will have the opportunity to ask questions during the class.

A weekly Zoom drop-in class in instinctive meditation will run on Wednesdays from 10:00-11:00 am EST starting April 29 and running for 12 weeks.

Cat and dog food will be distributed first come, first serve, as supplies last. Social distancing and protective measures will be taken by all staff and we ask the public to do the same during the drive-thru pick-up.  Additional resources and supplies will also be available.

Food is provided through part of the ASPCA’s Relief and Recovery Initiative, which has included the creation of regional pet food distribution centers provided in partnership with the Petco Foundation, to give dog and cat owners free access to critical food supplies as the outbreak continues to spread. Over the last two months, the ASPCA and Blue Ridge Humane have distributed food to over 300 pets through the free giveaways. This is in addition to the pet food supplied to local food banks through BRHS’s community outreach programs.

Blue Ridge Humane has increased pet food distribution to local partner food banks in response to needs due to COVID-19 and is grateful for the support of the ASPCA to extend resources to those in need through another channel.

The 33rd Annual Operation Blood Drive takes place on Thursday, June 25, and there are two chances for you to give blood and also have your antibodies tested for COVID-19. The locations are:

She suffers from heart disease and without insurance, was unsure how she would afford her medicines. By working with Pisgah Legal Services, she was able to get a Blue Cross Blue Shield plan for less than $17/month.  “Pisgah Legal took care of everything for me,” said Christina. She hopes others take advantage of this valuable, free service.

Pisgah Legal Services works with organizations in WNC to provide these services across the region. These organizations include: Blue Ridge Community Health Services, Council on Aging of Buncombe County, Legal Aid or North Carolina, Mountain Projects, Inc., and, Western Carolina Medical Society.
