It’s our favorite night of the month, so get to THE BLOCK off biltmore for the Community Jazz Jam led by Dave Wilken! There will be swingin’ music, and great classes for beginners! Stay late for our post-band blues DJ! Plus the venue is not only gorgeous, but they have a fabulous bar!
~~~NEW Schedule (short version- see below for details)~~~
PLEASE NOTE that we are offering Beginning classes only, starting at 8pm, this summer!
8pm (Beginning): Beginning 8-Count w/Karolina & Jessica
8:30pm (All Welcome): Open Practice, teachers available
9-11pm: Swing Dance w/Community Jazz Jam
11pm – close: Blues Dance w/ DJ
~~~~~~~~~~~~
PRICING: Dance/Band is $5 (includes blues) and classes are $10/$8 for Swing Asheville members. 8:30pm Practice is $5 and includes the 9pm dance. Blues Dance is $2 suggested donation for those who didn’t pay for Band admission.
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

MUSIC
It’s our favorite night of the month: the Community Swing Jam led this month by Dave Wilken! If you are a musician (everyone welcome, from beginners to professionals), join the house band on stage to play some of the most swingin’ dance tunes from history. You can download charts at http://annieerbsen.com/music/jam/. Note that this is an acoustic jam, but we do have mics available for vocalists and quiet instruments.
BLUES
Band finished and you’re not done dancing? You’re in luck… stick around for our blues after party! Continue dancing to DJ’d music until the bar kicks us out. $2 suggested donation for those coming just in time for the blues.
FOOD: Feeling peckish? The bar has a small selection of vegan goodies to help keep your stamina up! Ask a bartender for more details. Buncombe Botanicals and Sowing Ceeds will also be out their with their rotating selection of freshly made, allergy friendly, plant medicine infused goodies including banana based “Nicecream”, baked goods, and savory bites!
CLASSES
7pm: No Intermediate Classes this summer — join us at 8:30 for practice open to all levels!
*******************
8 pm: Beginning 8-Count w/ Karolina & Jessica
Get ready for the Roarin’ 20s! During this 30 minute lesson you will learn the basics of the 8-count lindy hop, the high energy dance that originated in Harlem in 1920s. You’ll be able to get out on the dance floor and have fun dancing already after the first lesson! This is a drop-in class, so every week throughout June we will be covering the same set of basic steps, throwing each week a new variation on top. No partner is required to join. After the lesson we have an Open Practice at 8:30 with a DJ when our teachers will be available for dances and questions.
“Core” lessons stress the fundamentals of swing dancing for beginning dancers. Lessons rotate monthly to focus on a different kind of swing dance (6 Count Lindy, 8 Count Lindy, Charleston, Balboa, etc.). Because good fundamentals are hard to develop in one month, we recommend repeating Core lessons (on the same topic) to help develop the solid foundation you’ll need in continuing classes. Core lessons are also great for intermediate and advanced dancers who want to “get back to basics” or learn a different dancing role (lead vs. follow).
*************************
GIFT CERTIFICATES
Do you want to buy a gift certificate for our classes as a gift, or to pre-pay for a block of classes for yourself? You can purchase gift certificates at the door at our weekly dance! They are $40 for a block of 4, and a great way to dive into the fun world of dance.

Both regular attendees and newcomers are welcome, and the venue is kid-friendly.
As always, this event is all about helping those with an interest in real estate and investment build relationships within the industry and make meaningful connections. We encourage all attendees to bring at least one friend and one question to the event .
The event will run from 5:30 to 6:30pm, but the earlier you get there the better – we’ll cover the first beer for our first ten arrivals! Our goal is for everyone to walk away with a new connection/relationship that is going to help you take the next step forward in your real estate journey.
Shoot us a message and let us know what that step might be so we can do our best to make that introduction on Wednesday. Or maybe it is a question that you have, let us know so we can try to either answer it ourselves or introduce you to the person who has the answer.

HempYEAH! is a monthly WNC hemp advocate meet up at The Block Off Biltmore in downtown Asheville. This is the perfect, informative get-together for businesses, politicians, entrepreneurs, community members, etc. that are passionate about this amazing and versatile plant.
Each meetup will include freebies from the top dispensaries in the area, panels with esteemed members of the hemp community, spotlights on individuals and businesses that are helping their clients and/or patients with hemp, and updates about what direction hemp can head in NC as well as across the board! We will also touch on ways that we can educate ourselves, law enforcement, and employers about the legality it currently has and what that means for the future.
This year’s fourth HempYEAH! is on Wednesday, April 3rd from 6-8pm, and will be celebrating Earth Day by spotlighting some of the many sustainable uses of hemp.
Tim of Legalize Pot Belly Pigs Co LLC will be out there to speak about his dedicated work with hemp textiles, Jason of Plant restaurant will be there to demonstrate his methods for infusing hemp into his recipes, and we will also have Blake Butler, the Executive Director of the North Carolina Industrial Hemp Association, there to give a legislative update. In addition, I will be offering my hemp & plant medicine infused, allergy friendly goodies from The Chill Peel and there will be a raffle along with a brief Q&A at the end! So come on out for music, community connection, & hemp refreshments.
Hemp, Hemp, Hooray!

Isis Music Hall kicks off the summer season with free outdoor concerts in West Asheville every Wednesday and Thursday evenings.
Concerts on the Isis Music Hall lawn bring the community center stage for evenings filled with free music and fun festivities throughout the summer from 6 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.
“It’s just going to be a great vibe for the community and welcoming for our visitors,”” said Lillianna Woody, Isis Music Hall owner. “It’s the perfect way to unwind from the day full of responsibilities and just have fun.”
From bluegrass to blues, jazz and a few surprises in between, the summer series brings an array of local acts to the stage to satisfy nearly any song-filled soul.
“It’s really refreshing for me as a musician to be able to play in a family-friendly environment,” said breakout artist Whitney Moore, of Queen Bee & The Honeylovers. “I love the laid back community vibe of it and that people can stroll down Haywood and just happen by some great live music. It’s also early in the evening which gives families a great opportunity to see live music.”
Cold brews, food, wine and cocktails are available for purchase. Come, kick off your heels and relax on the patio or spread out a blanket and hang out on the lawn to enjoy free music for the evening.
No reservations needed, just stop by and enjoy! Weather permitting, of course. Alcohol is permitted on the lawn, but must be purchased from Isis Music Hall.
Check their website at isiaasheville.com for a full schedule.
For the third year, Fleet Feet and Brooks will come together on June 5 to host The Big Run. The annual nationwide 5K brings thousands of runners together on Global Running Day to do what we love most—run.
Why The Big Run?
Because we want to bring running to more communities; we want more people to set goals and meet them; we want more people to experience that feeling of accomplishment as they cross the finish line.
Because running changes everything.
Oh, and did we mention there will be prizes?
All results from certified, timed 5K races will funnel into a national leaderboard to determine the overall male and female winners as well as the fastest runners in each age group. Those winners will receive cash prizes.
But it’s not just about winning—we will also recognize other runners with unique awards, including:
Common Ground: Finish with the most common finish time for The Big Run, and we’ll enter you into a drawing for something BIG!
Middle of the Pack: We’ll recognize the male and female who finish in the exact middle of all The Big Run results.
Social Butterflies: We’ll thank the two people with the most-engaged social media posts from The Big Run with some pretty sweet prizes. Include #thebigrun, @brooksrunning and @fleetfeetsports in the post to be eligible.
Search #thebigrun on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter to see how our epic coast-to-coast running community celebrated at The Big Run last year.
