Houstonians Whitney Flynn and Jesse Sendejas formed Days N Daze as a duo in 2008. Since then, they’ve taken on different musicians to create a full recording and touring band. Presently, the band’s rhythm section includes bassist Geoff Bell and percussionist Meagan Melancon. Flynn and Sendejas remain the band’s principal songwriters.
The group’s sound has been described as “riot folk” or “thrashgrass.” Song themes run the gamut from social (gang violence, terrorism, annihilation of the environment for corporate pocket-lining, the mundane and unavoidable anxieties of modern life, et al) to recreational (how the fuck did we end up in jail?).
Days N Daze embraces the D.I.Y. ethic by recording, packaging and promoting its music independently.
DnD is best known for is its live shows, which are energetic to the point of audience members stripping their clothes off in ecstatic, music-induced jubilation (or, too much PBR). The band has performed throughout the United States and Canada in venues ranging from house shows to festivals. DnD independently booked and promoted a full U.S tour with New Zealand’s Night Gaunts after their split release in 2015. They also had the privilege to tour with Leftover Crack and featured on LOC’s newest album “Constructs of the State”. On the road, DnD has played the D.I.Y. staple Mountain Blood Fest, at Skatopia’s Bowl Bash and has played multiple sold out shows across the states including New York City and Los Angeles. At home, it performs routinely at well-regarded spaces such as Walter’s and Warehouse Live. The band was honored to be awarded Best Punk Act in 2015 by The Houston Press.

The summoning is a spiritually themed event, following the traditions of the late 1800’s spiritualism movement. Blending a variety of esoteric techniques utilized by mediums, spiritualist, magicians, and witches alike.
Our goal is to contact/summon one of the currently departed members of the famed “27 Club”. Or those of renown and repute that have shuffled off this mortal coil at the tender age of 27 years old.

There will be esoterically themes treats, parlor inspired tricks, and ghostly tunes as well as a full complex ritual of conjuring in the “goth room.”
Patrons are encouraged to dress in 1890’s-1920’s garb and to bring representations of the Four target individuals (such as albums, pictures, life/death representations, clothing, etc), as the more connections created on this plane the more likelihood of contact. Also any esoteric supplies may be of use (candles, mirrors, herbs, offerings, etc).
The evening will begin with a full bar cleansing and ritual preparation, then participants will be instructed as to each step of the summoning process.

British talk-show host David Frost has become a lowbrow laughingstock. Richard M. Nixon has just resigned the United States presidency in total disgrace over Vietnam and the Watergate scandal. Determined to resurrect his career, Frost risks everything on a series of in-depth interviews in order to extract an apology from Nixon. The cagey Nixon, however, is equally bent on redeeming himself in his nation’s eyes. In the television age, image is king, and both men are desperate to out-talk and upstage each other as the cameras roll. The result is the interview that sealed a president’s legacy.

Reclaimed Creations is a unique sculpture exhibit created by renowned artist Sayaka Ganz. Utilizing reclaimed plastic objects, such as discarded utensils, Ganz creates amazing sculptures that visually appear unified at a distance, but are in fact separated when examined up close. Described as using a “3D impressionistic” style, Ganz’s exhibit includes installations of animals in motion, which are in rich in color and energy, to create an illusion of form.
About the Artist
Born in Yokohama, Japan, Sayaka Ganz grew up living in Japan, Brazil and Hong Kong. She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Indiana University, Bloomington, and a Master of Fine Arts degree in sculpture from Bowling Green State University in Ohio. A lecturer and teacher, Ganz’s work has been displayed at various institutions around the globe, including the Hermann Geiger Foundation in Cecina, Italy, the Isle Gallery in Isle of Man, and the Monterey Bay Aquarium in California.
My work is about perceiving harmony, even in situations that appear chaotic from the inside. When observing my sculptures up close, one might see gaps, holes and items being held on only by small points; step away, however, and the sculptures reveal the harmony created when the objects are aligned to the same general (but not identical) direction. Similarly, it is important to gain perspective by stepping back from current problems and look at the larger picture. Then one can perceive the beauty and patterns that exist.”

Fall in Chimney Rock Village is a time of traditions as families with young children and couples return to our bustling Main Street and Riverwalk Trail to take in the splendor of autumn. Merchants show off their creativity all month long by decorating scarecrows in front of their businesses. B&Bs, Inns, and vacation rental cabins decorate too, and the outdoor cafes are brimming with activity. The monthlong celebration of Fall culminates with our annual Trick or Treat on Main St., on Halloween evening from 5 pm to 7 pm. Restaurants in the village may be open later than this. So, dress up the whole family and head down to Main St to score your best treats.

This beautiful exhibit celebrates the works of photographer Lauren Rutten and quilter Kari Morton. What these two artists share in common are a partnership in the five-woman, artist-owned Flow Gallery in historic downtown Marshall, and a deep love of Madison County, their newly chosen home.
In 2015, Lauren and her husband Andy, traveled the US for one year searching for a home. “From the very moment I arrived in Marshall while on this journey, I had a sense of having dreamt of this place since childhood – I knew this was where I wanted to be.
I have found that my life here is not confined within four walls, so I’m very interested in reflections, when the light shines through a structure, or a barn begins to dilapidate so the outside and inside merge.
Marshall finds itself in a season of change. Many families who are moving here to homestead live alongside families who have farmed here for generations. This collection hopes to show the range of those who have come to call Marshall home, as well as the hard reality of homesteading and its immense beauty, which are in direct relationship with each other here. In this land I dig my hands in the earth and muddy my feet on the ground, while at the same time experiencing the transcendence of being and connecting to so much beyond my body. I hope those who view these photos might experience this too.”
Kari and her husband, Mike, moved to Madison County in 2012, after having lived a fairly nomadic life. They decided Madison County was the place to put down roots and call home.
“This collection is inspired by my immediate world, the things I live with and the things I see – the garden in my front yard, the chickens in the back yard, the buildings in downtown Marshall, where I spend many hours working at Flow and serving as a guardian ad litem in the county courthouse. Each of my pieces tell a story of connection, to my community, to my world. I love sharing this part of myself with others.”
Flow Gallery is located on Main Street in the historic, picturesque town of Marshall, which lies along the French Broad River, just 25 minutes north of Asheville, NC. The gallery is in its 8th year of business and showcases the work of over 65 talented, regional artists.
Our Howl-O-Ween event was a huge success last year so we are doing it again and even bigger! Join us for some day time, outdoor, fun in your costumes! We will have areas for learning about how other cultures around the globe celebrate this holiday. We will also have a photo booth, halloween themed games, crafts, halloween sensory bins. We will also have a table that features the Teal Pumpkin Project and how you and your house can help make halloween accessible to children with food borne allergies! We will share bits of what will be at the festival in this event to get everyone excited and engaged in this event!

When reflecting on the current state of the environment, it seems that we have entered into times of seismic sorrows. Carbon emissions, water pollution, fracking, and changing climate patterns all point to a troubling reality with serious consequences for human and non-human populations. Through weavings, installations, sculpture, and print, artists Rena Detrixhe and Tali Weinberg (Tulsa, OK) explore the complex relationship between humans and the planet, offering insights, expressing grief, and creating space for resilience and change.
In Time of Seismic Sorrows is curated by Marilyn Zapf and organized by the Center for Craft. The Center for Craft is supported in part by the N.C. Arts Council, a division of the Department of Natural and Cultural Resources.
This year the Tennessee Theatre, located on Gay Street just a short walk from the Mast Store in Knoxville, is celebrating its 90th year. A grand palace for entertainment, the Theatre was also a catalyst for the rebirth of Downtown Knoxville. It hosts a myriad of programs throughout the year including local and traveling performances, classic movies, and the Mighty Wurlitzer Concerts, which are free.
During the month of October, we’re asking guests to support the theatre by rounding up their purchases to the next dollar. It’s a great way to see a little spare change add up to an impactful contribution.

The Haen Gallery, located in downtown Asheville, North Carolina, is proud to present their 12th Annual Lynn Boggess Exhibition. The exhibit will run through November.
Lynn Boggess is one of the most unique and noteworthy American landscape painters of the 21st Century. He resides in West Virginia, a state whose diverse mountains, forests, and rivers provide abundant inspiration for the artist’s plein air paintings. In place of brushes he uses palette knives and trowels to thickly layer the broad sweeping strokes and exquisite fine detail that capture all the colors of the seasons in rushing rivers, snow covered hillsides, and thick forest vegetation. Mr. Boggess’ work is recognized internationally for its incredible three-dimensional texture, rendered solely in oils. These remarkable paintings combine elements of Abstract Expressionism and Photorealism to create a style that is totally unique and original.

Visitors to Grovewood Village will have the opportunity to learn the story of Biltmore Industries on a guided history tour, offered Wednesday – Saturday at 1pm during April – November. The tour includes a visit to Biltmore Industries’ production facility (aka Dye House), where guests can peek into the past and view the original looms, carding machines, spinning mule and dye vats used to make the famed Biltmore Handwoven Homespun.
The tours last approximately 45 minutes and operate on a first-come, first-served basis, open to 25 people. There is no charge to take the tour, but donations are appreciated. Tours begin at the Homespun Museum in Grovewood Village, where a docent will give a detailed overview of Biltmore Industries’ historic importance before leading guests into the 100-year-old Dye House (usually closed to the public).
Private group tours are also offered for a fee and should be scheduled at least one week in advance.
Bring the kids for an after school Trick or Treat at the WNC Farmers Market. All costumed kids receive a fresh NC apple and other surprises. Stores will have folks dressed in costume. Come and join us for this Halloween celebration!
