These two popular forms offer endless possibilities of expression to the clay artist. In this intermediate level class, we will use the potter’s wheel to create our forms, then focus on creating a unique surface that reflects your individuality. Through demonstrations and practice on our own test tiles, we will cover surface design including mishima (slip inlay), painting, and sgraffito carving. There will also be a heavy emphasis on handle making, as we seek to create forms that are both beautiful, and easy to use.

IPR’s The Scene has described them as a “…a gritty Americana group with Irish folk and country influences.” They have shared the stage with David Allan Coe, Shooter Jennings, Reverend Peyton’s Big Damn Band, Great American Taxi featuring Vince Herman of Leftover Salmon, David Childers, Rumpke Mountain Boys, and John Michael Montgomery. They were recently featured on WDVX’s Blue Plate Special. The MMB is a hardworking band that loves to play. They can do it soft and sweet in the corner…or loud and rowdy! They have been building a hardcore following of cowboys, angels, freaks, hippies, and good old boys & girls.

“You can hurt and still feel lucky,” Ben Danaher sings on the title track of his deeply personal debut album, ‘Still Feel Lucky.’ Coming from any other songwriter, it might sound like a simple platitude, but in Danaher’s hands, it’s something far more profound, a moment of true enlightenment in the face of unimaginable tragedy. Years of pain are wrapped up in his delivery, but still he commits to the hope and the beauty inherent in the darkness. It’s a monumental task, but one the Huffman, Texas native handles with a tenacious grace on an album that, despite being born in the fires of struggle and loss, manages to forge its own path toward peace, growth, and even joy.
Drawing on the influence of legendary troubadours like Guy Clark, Rodney Crowell, and Townes Van Zandt, Danaher first made a name for himself as a songwriter in Texas before relocating to Nashville. Along the way, he shared bills with Ray Wylie Hubbard, Jack Ingram, Angaleena Presley, Rhett Miller, Travis Meadows, and Amanda Shires, in addition to co-writing songs for Ryan Beaver, Bonnie Bishop, Rob Baird, and Justin Halpin among others. For his own songs, Danaher collaborated with some of Nashville fastest-rising stars, including Maren Morris, on material that blended classic country tradition with modern rock and roll sensibilities.

Off With Your Radiohead Presents: Hail to the Thief
Friday, September 7
Doors: 8:00pm | Show: 9:00pm
Tickets: $10 ADV | $12 DOS
Off With Your Radiohead:
Fresh on the Asheville music scene, and already packing the city’s most sought-after venues, Off With Your Radiohead is set to perform one of Radiohead’s most challenging albums, Hail to the Thief, in its entirety. The show will also include a bonus set of carefully-curated tunes from the Radiohead discography.
After mesmerizing a crowd of unsuspecting Radiohead fans at a tribute show last fall, frontman Jeff Thompson knew he was onto something. What was intended to be a one-off homage to the greatest rock record of all time quickly developed into a permanent ensemble. Now, the five-piece is dedicated to mastering even Radiohead’s most complex arrangements note for note.
The evening’s lineup features Jeff Thompson on lead vocals and guitar, Jake Cavinder on drums and backing vocals, Joshua Cavinder on keys, Kyle “Cricket” Colclasure on bass, and Kevin Carballo on lead guitar.

The Ballroom Thieves – Calin “Callie” Peters (vocals, cello), Martin Earley (guitar, vocals), and Devin Mauch (percussion, vocals) – mine immense melodies and hypnotic hooks from personal stories on their 2018 EP, Paper Crown (Nettwerk Records). Under the cover of vintage jazz-style, the five songs reflect feelings of rootlessness from four nomadic years, bouts of depression, and the ever-looming specter of political unrest hanging over the country.
Nevertheless, a noticeable glimmer of light always peeks through.

Tremendous musicality, versatility and the ability to entertain everyone from the casual listener to the most discriminating improvised music aficionados. These qualities have become the trademark of south Florida musician and entertainer Patrick Lopez. With performances that captivate and inspire his audiences, it’s obvious that he knows where music has been, where music is going, and perhaps most importantly, he’s not going to leave anyone behind on the journey. His rhythmically charged trumpet solos, featuring unique and spontaneous melodic fragments combined seamlessly with more traditional bebop runs show that he’s done his homework. And it’s that intense dedication to music that has given him the opportunity to perform with some incredible names in the world of music, including Kontrol, Tony Tatis, Alex Leon, Tito Nieves, Edwin Rivera, Jerry Rivera, La Grand Union and numerous South Florida Wedding Bands have highlighted his early career. He’s had the opportunity to share the stage with jazz stars, the names of which include Ira Sullivan, Feliepe Lamoglia, Freddie Hubbard, Mark Colby, Melton Mustafa and Arturo Sandoval. Has recorded for Natalie Cole, Teddy Mulet from the Miami Sound Machine.
