Great news for poets and poetry lovers: Dark City Poet’s Society is returning to the Black Mountain Library. DCPS is a completely free poetry group that is open to poets of all ages and experience levels. Join us at the Black Mountain Library from 6-7:30 p.m. on the first Tuesday of every month for our (respectful) critique group. Grandson of the infamous Victor Frankenstein, Frederick Frankenstein (pronounced “Fronk-en-steen”) inherits his family’s estate in Transylvania. With the help of a hunchbacked sidekick, Igor (pronounced “Eye-gore”), and a leggy lab assistant, Inga (pronounced normally), Dr. Frankenstein aims to fulfill his grandfather’s legacy by bringing a corpse back to life. Eventually, of course, the monster escapes and hilarity continuously abounds. With such memorable tunes as “The Transylvania Mania,” “He Vas My Boyfriend” and “Puttin’ on the Ritz,” Young Frankenstein is scientifically proven, monstrously good entertainment.

Zak Toscani is a standup comedian and writer living in Los Angeles, CA. Zak started comedy in Portland but it has since taken him across the country and around the world. Zak has performed at the Bumbershoot Music & Arts Festival, The Bridgetown Comedy Festival, and the The High Plains Comedy Festival.
With a focus on originality and vulnerability, Zak’s comedy has been highlighted by Splitsider, Paste, and The Portland Mercury. He is also the most reoccurring guest on the hit comedy podcast All Fantasy Everything.
Zak’s work has been featured by the Washington Post, BBC, Newsweek, Buzzfeed, and Vice.
