This is a family friendly event where you can bring the whole crew to dance-it-out with DJ Virtuous at The Regeneration Station! All are welcome to attend this “Glow Dance” and support one of your local nonprofits.
With multiple parks featuring ballfields and volleyball, pickleball, tennis, and basketball courts, Asheville has plenty of opportunities to join pick-up games or play with organized sports leagues. Asheville Parks & Recreation (APR) offers a broad line-up of youth athletics programs, adult sports leagues, and special events throughout the year with an emphasis on fair play and enjoyment for any level of experience, including the fall opportunities below.

Asheville’s newest team sports league provides an opportunity for community members over 40 who want to get back into the game or prefer to play with others around the same age. Sign up as an individual to be placed on a team based on height, position, and skill level for games played at Linwood Crump Shiloh Community Center.

Instructional five-week clinic with divisions for 6-8, 9-10, and 11-12 year-olds teaches fundamentals through drills and scrimmages at Asheville Middle School on 211 South French Broad Avenue with the intent of building a youth softball program in the future.
Youth Archery Class, $25 per archer
Registration ends October 10, class held each Thursday from October 26-November 16
This introductory course teaches individuals 9-12 years-old range safety and proper shooting techniques.

!Get ready for another season of excitement as our CORE Program gears up to provide exciting games and activities for toddlers, homeschoolers, and families throughout the community this Fall. This includes include strider bikes, yard games, kid-friendly music, puzzles, foam archery, chalk and more. While the games can be enjoyed by anyone regardless of age–with something available for anyone–the programming is aimed at those 1 to 15 years of age. Coco Live-to-Film Concert features a screening of the complete Disney Pixar film with Oscar® and Grammy®-winning composer Michael Giacchino’s musical score performed live by the 20-member Orquesta Folclórica Nacional de México. In addition to the original score by Giacchino, “Coco” also features the Oscar®-winning song “Remember Me” by Oscar-winning songwriters Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez and additional songs co-written by Germaine Franco and co-director and screenwriter Adrian Molina. Audiences will travel with Miguel (voice of Anthony Gonzalez) on his extraordinary journey to the colorful Land of the Dead to unlock the real story behind his family’s history set to a live orchestra.

About the Movie: Despite his family’s baffling generations-old ban on music, Miguel (voice of Anthony Gonzalez) dreams of becoming an accomplished musician like his idol, Ernesto de la Cruz (voice of Benjamin Bratt). Desperate to prove his talent, Miguel finds himself in the stunning and colorful Land of the Dead following a mysterious chain of events. Along the way, he meets charming trickster Héctor (voice of Gael García Bernal), and together, they set off on an extraordinary journey to unlock the real story behind Miguel’s family history. The Orquesta Folclórica Nacional de México of the Ballet Folclórico Nacional de México by Silvia Lozano, is a musical group that stands out for its ability to fuse pre-Hispanic instruments with instruments from the colonial era, thus creating a unique and distinctive sound that evokes the rich history and culture of Mexico.
This orchestra is made up of expert musicians who are highly trained in the interpretation of a wide variety of genres and styles of Mexican folk music, such as Mariachi music, Jarana music, Son music, and Huapango music, among others. In addition, their repertoire includes songs and instrumental pieces dating from pre-Hispanic and colonial times, which allows them to connect with the country’s historical and cultural roots.
Among the instruments used by the Orquesta Folclórica Nacional de México are traditional pre-Hispanic drums, such as the “Huehuetl “and “Tepobaztli”, as well as flutes, “Ocarinas” and other pre-Hispanic wind instruments. They also use guitars, violins, double basses, and other stringed instruments that date back to colonial times, resulting in a unique and surprising sound combination.
In conjunction with the dancers of the Ballet Folclórico Nacional de México by Silvia Lozano, the Orquesta Folclórica manages to transmit to the public the energy, passion, and diversity of Mexican culture through its music and dance, creating an authentic and exciting experience for all those who have the pleasure of enjoying the show.

West Asheville’s newest market space is a collaboration between Tori Frasher, owner of Sage & Spice Catering, and Executive Chef Sergio Castro. Whether you’re a food enthusiast, a seasoned chef, or simply looking for a fun day out, The Market has something for everyone. There will be a myriad of offerings such as smoothies, lattes, matcha, tea, Cuban sandwiches, empanadas, sandwiches, salads, and more. In addition, guests will also be able to purchase frozen meal planning options, wine, beer, and cider. Large group and catering menu options are available upon request. Tori Frasher, owner and operator of The Market by Sage & Spice, is a Greenville, S.C. native who immediately fell in love with the beauty, hospitality, and culinary offerings she found upon her first visits to Asheville. After graduating from Furman University and a brief career in automotive marketing and sales, she moved to Asheville to pursue a career in international food, culture, and event planning. This pursuit led to the creation of Sage & Spice Catering, one of the premier catering and event management companies in Western North Carolina, in 2019 to focus on weddings, large gatherings, holiday events, and corporate functions in conjunction with Executive Chef Sergio Castro, formerly of Conosur Restaurant, and Chef Amanda Delgado. “Growing up in a large Lebanese family, my grandmother and great-grandmother taught me how important food can be to family and as a love language. I’m so happy that I can bring those lessons, our professional catering expertise and talents, and a wide array of local and international vendors together in one place – The Market by Sage & Spice.”, said Frasher. Executive Chef Sergio Castro’s culinary journey began over 30 years ago in Peruvian kitchens. With multiple parks featuring ballfields and volleyball, pickleball, tennis, and basketball courts, Asheville has plenty of opportunities to join pick-up games or play with organized sports leagues. Asheville Parks & Recreation (APR) offers a broad line-up of youth athletics programs, adult sports leagues, and special events throughout the year with an emphasis on fair play and enjoyment for any level of experience, including the fall opportunities below.

Asheville’s newest team sports league provides an opportunity for community members over 40 who want to get back into the game or prefer to play with others around the same age. Sign up as an individual to be placed on a team based on height, position, and skill level for games played at Linwood Crump Shiloh Community Center.

Intro to Golf, $10 for series with players responsible for their own green fees

!Get ready for another season of excitement as our CORE Program gears up to provide exciting games and activities for toddlers, homeschoolers, and families throughout the community this Fall. This includes include strider bikes, yard games, kid-friendly music, puzzles, foam archery, chalk and more. While the games can be enjoyed by anyone regardless of age–with something available for anyone–the programming is aimed at those 1 to 15 years of age.
