We will reopen with Million Dollar Quartet in mid-July. The remainder of the season will proceed as planned beginning with Jumping Jack Flash – The Music of the Rolling Stones on August 20th. Steel Magnolias and our summer musicals, A Chorus Line, and West Side Story, will be moved to the 2021 season.
In response to Government guidelines, and for the safety of our staff and customers, the box office will close Friday, April 3rd and plans to re-open Monday, April 27th. Patrons with questions can refer to the Playhouse website www.FlatRockPlayhouse.org for answers to frequently asked questions and/or to find ways to help support FRP at this critical time. The South Bank’s Globe Theatre has closed its doors for now, but it also has an online catalogue of filmed performances to feast on.
Globe Player has paid-for recordings of many of the theatre’s Shakespeare adaptations spanning more than 10 years, including Mark Rylance and Stephen Fry in Twelfth Night; Jonathan Pryce as the Merchant of Venice; Emma Rice’s naughty telling of A Midsummer Night’s Dream; Adetomiwa Edun and Ellie Kendrick in the 2009 production of Romeo and Juliet; and Lucy Bailey’s bloodthirsty Titus Andronicus.
Watching one of these for your sofa is probably more comfortable than being a groundling at the theatre itself, although you’ll pay roughly the same to rent, as you usually would for the cheapest tickets in the house.
If you’re particularly barmy about the Bard, bundles of nine different seasons at the Globe are also available to buy.
Free content on Globe Player is admittedly limited, although there’s some interesting behind-the-scenes content to check out.

We invite young LEAFers to join LEAF Resident Teaching Artist Adama Dembele for a virtual drumming and dance class for elementary age kids. Adama is a master djembefola (djembe player) from the Ivory Coast, West Africa, and has been a part of LEAF since 2005. He currently teaches year round after school classes with LEAF Schools & Streets, and he is excited to offer video classes in which students can take a journey to explore the sounds, rhythms and movements of West African culture right from their own home!

Together we’ll connect and get our wiggles out through fun action songs, movement games, sing-a-longs and skill building! Activities are focused towards toddlers and young children, but older children and caregivers are encouraged to join in on the dancing! I’ll see you on the virtual dance floor!

We have launched the first two days of our new online programming schedule that anyone can enjoy! And even better – it’s all free!
Our first episode of ACT Reads – Storytime featured actor and educator Bradshaw Call reading “A Color of His Own.” ACT Reads – Storytime will feature a different book and different reader each week!
We are so excited to feature so many of your wonderful faces, voices, and talents in this new programming that we’re sharing! Still to come this week:
- Thursday at 11 – Backstage Pass: Amanda and Chanda clear up the mysteries about stage directions!
- Thursday at 7:30 – Face with a Name: Get to know Technical Director Jill Summers

Beginner’s workshop lesson at 7:30 P.M., then 8-11 P.M. Contra Dance with Country Waltzing at the break and the final dance. This is a partner dance but it’s not necessary to come with a partner. We have different live bands and callers.

Part eulogy, part game of pretend, Storm Still follows the three Lear sisters as they gather together to clean out their recently deceased father’s house, acting out a ridiculous and cathartic version of Shakespeare’s King Lear in their childhood backyard.

Curious George is back and ready to cook as he helps Chef Pisghetti get ready for his once-a-year All-You-Can-Eat Meatball Day! But a new, corner-cutting meatball maker intercepts Pisghetti’s crowd and ruins the day.
Admitting defeat, Pisghetti announces he will hang up his apron for good. But George believes his friend is the best meatball chef, and decides to enter him in the Golden Meatball Contest to prove it.
When Pisghetti gets lost on his way to the contest, George must stand in for him, and cook the meatballs on his own. The determined little monkey tries his very hardest, but can he help win the contest without the Pisghetti’s super-secret ingredient?
This musical story of encouragement, determination and selfless love will warm hearts and tummies alike!
