This ride provides a welcoming environment for anyone who might be uncomfortable on intermediate or advanced rides. While we’ll use gravel roads to connect trails, our focus will be on learning to have fun and improve skills on singletrack.
Where we ride and what we do will be determined by who shows up and what we want to learn and explore. Questions from “How do I change a flat tire?” to “How do I ride over a log?” are encouraged and impromptu mini-clinics or sessioning (practicing) trail features might happen.
Details:
• A mountain bike is required – bikes with skinny tires are dangerous on trails.
• Helmets are required and biking gloves are recommended.
• Please bring your own water, snacks, and a spare inner tube.
• If bad weather is predicted we’ll post as early as possible.
• We’ll leave the lot at 5:00PM: it’d be best to be there by 4:45PM!
• We’ll try to time our rides to end just before it gets too dark to ride.
• Parking is limited. Arriving early and carpooling are recommended!
• Ride is entirely at your own risk. You assume all responsibility for your own well-being.
Directions:
From 191 Brevard Rd. turn on to Bent Creek Ranch Road, follow the sign to Lake Powhatan, and stay left onto Wesley Branch Road. You will pass by the service and member entrance to the NC Arboretum on your left. You will enter the Bent Creek Experimental Forest. The first road on your right is Rice Pinnacle. Turn there to park.

Is your child struggling to learn how to ride their bike? Through step by step, engaging activities we’ll help them with their cycling. Our kid-friendly instructors will provide a combination of personalized and group instruction to help overcome fears, teach important skills such as starting and stopping, and help them understand how to maneuver their bike around obstacles. This may be the only lesson they will need! Our fun, unique and proven instruction methods have helped hundreds of kids experience the joy of riding a bike. A properly fitted bike is essential for your child’s comfort and safety. Students should arrive with their own bike with the training wheels removed. They should be able to sit on the seat with their feet flat on the ground. This class is for children 5 – 11 years old.
