Tori Frasher, owner and operator of The Market by Sage & Spice, is a Greenville, S.C. native who immediately fell in love with the beauty, hospitality, and culinary offerings she found upon her first visits to Asheville. After graduating from Furman University and a brief career in automotive marketing and sales, she moved to Asheville to pursue a career in international food, culture, and event planning. This pursuit led to the creation of Sage & Spice Catering, one of the premier catering and event management companies in Western North Carolina, in 2019 to focus on weddings, large gatherings, holiday events, and corporate functions in conjunction with Executive Chef Sergio Castro, formerly of Conosur Restaurant, and Chef Amanda Delgado. “Growing up in a large Lebanese family, my grandmother and great-grandmother taught me how important food can be to family and as a love language. I’m so happy that I can bring those lessons, our professional catering expertise and talents, and a wide array of local and international vendors together in one place – The Market by Sage & Spice.”, said Frasher.

Executive Chef Sergio Castro’s culinary journey began over 30 years ago in Peruvian kitchens. Since then, Sergio has served in executive culinary positions at the Fort Lauderdale Convention Center in Florida, Burlington Marriott in Boston, N.C., and Champion Hills Country Club in Hendersonville, N.C. Most recently, Sergio opened and operated Conosur in Mills River, N.C. for five years before joining The Market by Sage & Spice team. “When the offer appeared to own a restaurant and market in Asheville with Tori, I jumped at the opportunity. This new location and venture will allow me to continue crafting my passion for food and creating culinary experiences while also expanding our catering business and being a part of the Asheville food and business community.”, said Castro.

Asheville Regional Airport open house: master plan development
Oct 26 @ 5:30 pm – 7:30 pm
Western Carolina University Campus
This open house is an opportunity for the public to learn about the airport’s ongoing Master Plan Study and examine the alternatives being considered for future development of the airport. An opportunity will also be available for the public to provide comments concerning the project and the airport’s future direction.

There is no formal presentation planned; attendees will be able to view presentation materials at their own pace and ask questions of the Airport Authority staff and consultants. Comments and suggestions received during the open house are to be evaluated by the project team and incorporated into the study as appropriate. The proposed improvements are intended to achieve compliance with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations and to meet the existing and projected aviation needs of the region.

The master plan process will result in an up-to-date, comprehensive study of aviation demand forecasts, facility requirements, and airport development alternatives needed to map the airport’s future. Because the airport is such a large piece of the Western North Carolina economic picture, input from the community is important and welcomed. A master plan process is guided by FAA standards, and airports typically update their master plans approximately every 10 years. The last update to AVL’s master plan was in 2013.

Learn more about the master plan process and the open house at flyavl.com/MasterPlan.

Serving more than 1.8 million passengers in 2022, Asheville Regional Airport is continuing its growth trajectory. Now the third largest airport in North Carolina, the airport is served by six airlines that provide nonstop service to 26 unique airport destinations. For more information, visit flyavl.com.

APPLES – Our partners in Edneyville, NC, Lyda Farms, bring some of the best in the region. Local and low spray, folks come every year to get the best of fall in NC by the bag to bake, stew, butter, sauce and of course, crunch into while sitting on the farm.

Availability: Apples will be available to buy starting September 9th, they will typically run out Mid to late October.

FRESH PRESSED CIDER – We press fresh apple cider every year, comprised of our historical orchard apples on the Old Sherrill’s Inn property and apples from our partner Lyda Farms. This is a raw, unpasteurized product – delicious and changeable as the season, no added sugar or seasonings.

Availability: 1st pressing September 13th, bottled cider will be in the store for purchase September 14th!

JACKOLANTERN PUMPKINS – We work with several WNC veggie farmers in the area, including Hawkins Farms. We’ll have pumpkins arranged all around the Farm Store to display their beauty AND make sure you get *just the right one*. The seeds are dynamite when roasted, too…

Availability: Coming Mid-September, they will typically run out by end of October so make sure you get yours!

EDIBLE SQUASH & DECORATIVE GOURDS – From Mr. Anthony Cole’s farms, we have some long-lasting festive gourds to decoarate for the season, and a broad variety of edible squashes and pumpkins perfect for pies, soups and pasta.

Availability: Coming Mid-September.

Asheville Official Halloween Bar Crawl
PAY ONCE! DRINK, PARTY, and CRAWL ALL 3 DAYS! OCTOBER 21ST, 27TH and 28TH!

One of the most exciting and unique Halloween events is back, and you know who’s throwing it. Have you ever wondered what a Haunted Bar Crawl would be like? Look no further because this is perfect for those who love to drink and enjoy a spooky atmosphere. Our Official Halloween Bar Crawl is back and just in time to freak the night away. This Halloween we celebrate October 28th, 2023.
The bar crawl consists of visiting several bars in the city, each with its unique Halloween drink specials, decor, and spooky surprises. From ghostly cocktails to pumpkin beer, each bar offers a special drink to fit the Halloween theme. Don’t get caught in cobwebs, get scared by skeletons or spooky lighting which will be all over this Halloween.
One of our most exciting parts of the event is the costume contest. Participants come dressed in their scariest or most creative costumes, and the winner receives a prize. What will you come up with? We love the creativeness from classic costumes like zombies and ghosts to more modern costumes, you name it, we want to see it.

As the night goes on, the bars become more crowded, you won’t want to miss out on the high energy level of the dance floor. Don’t be afraid to singing along to Halloween-themed songs you know that will be rocking the venues all night long. This Halloween event is a great way to let loose and have fun with friends, while also enjoying the spooky holiday atmosphere.
Mark your calendars and join us for our Official Halloween Bar Crawl for a night of scary joy and spine-tingling thrills. Tickets are selling quickly, so be sure to get yours now. Don’t forget to invite your Halloween homies to come out by sharing our social media postings with them. We can’t wait to see you at our Official Halloween Bar Crawl, which is guaranteed to be a scream-worthy success.

What To Expect
Getting a ticket to this year’s Asheville Halloween Bar Crawl Festivities is quite simple, all you must do is go to Pubcrawls.com and you can purchase your ticket today! If you and your friends want to make sure you are at the number one bar crawl in the world, then make sure you buy your ticket in advance so you can select a fabulous costume and crawl in style. We cannot wait to see you at this year’s Halloween Bar Crawl in Asheville on October 28th, 2023.

Costume Contest
Prizes will be given away for Asheville HALLOWEEN BAR CRAWL!
Be sure to tag @PUBCRAWLERS throughout the night, as we will be hand picking winners and messaging them.
What do we look for to win? Originality. Every winner so far has custom made and designed the creepiest and most ghoulish costumes on the crawl. We are also cool with group costumes, so grab your creepiest friends and get in on the contest and who knows, your group may be able to split the pot.
