Comedy at Fleetwood’s: Rick Matthews
Mar 10 @ 8:00 pm – 11:00 pm
Fleetwood's

Rick Matthews was born and raised in Western NY. Rick recently recorded and released his first full-length album titled “This Is Where I Lose You”. He has developed a reputation for being honest, raw, yet painfully endearing. He’s taken what being from Buffalo has taught him. He is hard working, gritty and destined to be in second place. His family, past, and full length mirror give him all of the material he needs to keep crowds relating and amused. A favorite of the Asheville Comedy Festival, he is very excited to be able to spend some more time on the stage.

Rick will also be hosting the 8th Annual Asheville Wing War earlier that day!

Here Come the Mummies plus The Snozzberries
Mar 10 @ 9:00 pm – 11:59 pm
The Orange Peel

Here Come the Mummies
plus The Snozzberries
Show: 9pm
Doors: 8pm
$22 – $25
Ages 18+

Tickets & Info: www.theorangepeel.net/event/here-come-the-mummies/

Here Come the Mummies is an eight-piece funk-rock band of 5000 year-old Egyptian Mummies with a one-track mind. Their “Terrifying Funk from Beyond the Grave” is sure to get you into them (and possibly vice versa).
Since their discovery HCTM has been direct support for P-Funk, Al Green, Mavis Staples, KC and the Sunshine Band, and Cheap Trick; rocked Super Bowl Village; become a regular on The Bob and Tom Show; played massive festivals like Summer Camp, Common Ground, Voodoo Fest, Musikfest, Suwannee Hulaween, and Riverbend; and sold tickets by the thousands across large swaths of North America.
Maybe that’s why the ladies (and some dudes) can’t stop losing their minds over these mayhem-inducing mavens of mirth.
Some say they were cursed after deflowering a great Pharaoh’s daughter. Others claim they are reincarnated Grammy-Winning studio musicians. Regardless, HCTM’s mysterious personas, cunning song-craft, and unrelenting live show will bend your brain, and melt your face. Get ready, for Here Come The Mummies.
HCTM “‘KILLED’ it… Not only did they pack their stage – they were the hit of the night when they jumped on stage with moe. in front of 20,000.” – Jay Goldberg, Summer Camp Music Festival
“Here Come The Mummies are one bad-ass band, a hybrid of Idris Muhammad, George Clinton, Ohio Players, and Earth, Wind & Fire.” -Blurt Magazine
“A band unlike any other.” -examiner.com
“That’s the most fun I’ve had in 20 years.” -Bob Kevoian, The Bob & Tom Show
“Cock wobbling brilliant.” -Joe Elliott of Def Leppard

*Assembly Required: Ashevile Designer Toy Expo
Mar 11 all-day
Highland Brewing Company

Adding a Southeast destination for designer toy makers and collectors, *Assembly Required brings designer, bootleg and art toy artists from around the country, to present and sell their work.

Asheville’s premiere designer toy expo, *Assembly Required, is presented by Unboxing Asheville, Morgan’s Comic’s, 103.3 Asheville FM and Appalachian Pinball Museum. Focusing on this artistic movement, designer toys are a form of lowbrow pop art. These toy makers pull inspiration from a variety of subversive segments of culture, as well as subcultural elements, including (but not limited to) comics, tattooing, street art, and everything related to toys of the 60’s through the 80’s.

Echoing production methods of traditional toy manufacturers, designer toys are usually intended to be displayed as collectibles, rather than to be played with. Toy makers mediums range from resin to vinyl, from plastic to plush; with molding, and production techniques such as kitbash, sofubi and bootleg (recently coined ‘Artisanal Action Figure’, by New York Times writer, Rich Juzwiak [11/23/18]). (https://www.nytimes.com/2018/11/23/style/bootleg-toys-action-figures.html).

Juzwiak interviews such artists as the Sucklord and Killer Bootlegs, both of whom will be present at *Assembly Required.

Monthly Name Change Clinic
Mar 11 @ 12:00 pm – 4:00 pm
Tranzmission

Join us for another free legal name change clinic. We will supply you with all of the paperwork needed for the name change and help you answer any questions you may have while navigating this often confusing process. It’s easier with friends!

Our clinic is free, but there are different costs associated with the name change process that you will pay to different agencies along the way, and they are as follows:

Fingerprint fees: $10 each (you’ll need 2 sets)
State background check: $14
FBI background check: $18
Name change petition: $120
Notary fees: vary by location
There is also a charge for a new copy of your birth certificate, but that depends on what state you were born in. To find that info, check https://www.vitalchek.com.

Not all fees are due at the same time in the name change process. Fingerprints are the first step in the process which you then send off for the the state and FBI background checks. The federal background check can take up to 3 months to return, so you will have a little time to get the filing fee for the name change petition together.

If you feel like you would be more comfortable with an escort to the ID Bureau for fingerprinting or to the courthouse to file papers, please let us know in advance of the clinic date so that we can make the proper arrangements.

Pub Theology
Mar 11 @ 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm
Blue Ridge Beer Hub

Pub Theology meets on the second Monday of the month from 7:00-9:00.

Pub Theology is a group of spiritual and intellectual seekers—searchers. In the relaxed, comfortable setting of a pub (or café, or living room), we discuss God, the church, the history and politics of religion, and all that falls within the embrace of the quest for truth. Our goal is non-judgmental inquiry; safe, fair, and open discussion of ideas that have puzzled and tested humans from the beginning of civilization. Pub Theology is a “great ideas” group that welcomes people of all faiths, or none.
