French Broad River Festival
May 3 @ 12:00 pm – May 5 @ 1:00 pm
Hot Springs Resort and Spa

The French Broad River Festival in Hot Springs has grown steadily over the last 21 years from a one night benefit party on the banks of the French Broad River to an all weekend festival featuring some of the best music in the area and a number of outdoor events in celebration of this beautiful river and setting.

The part outdoor adventure, part music festival has whitewater and mountain bike races, hiking, kid’s village, camping and musical acts on multiple stages.

The festival takes place at the Hot Springs Campground & Spa, just 45 minutes north of Asheville. The historic town is surrounded by national forest and is a crossroads of the Appalachian Trail and the French Broad River. Music and entertainment include a few surprises such as a juggling fire show, kid’s parade, trapeze artists, fireworks, late night acoustic jams, and watch out for flying marshmallows.

On Saturday, be a part of the biggest mass start whitewater raft race in the southeast. The race begins in Barnard, North Carolina, and ends at the festival in beautiful Hot Springs. During the 9 mile race, you will experience Class 1-4 whitewater excitement, as well as bumping boats, crazy people, and a lot of heckling.

There are plenty of food vendors or you can dine out in one of Hot Springs restaurants. See lots of outdoor gear and win some of it in the raffle and silent auction.

Over the years, The French Broad River Festival has donated over $200,000 to designated local charities such as Manna Food Bank, Big Brothers/Big Sisters of WNC, Eliada Home, Homeward Bound of Asheville, and American Whitewater.

Tickets include camping, music, registration fees for whitewater and biking events (if you have your own boat/bike), one raffle ticket, festival schwag, and good times.

The Cove

Praise Ladies Retreat:
“ENOUGH”
Don’t miss this weekend of refreshing, growth and lasting relationships.
We are going to curl up and take a deep look into the struggles of inadequacy, the stronghold of anxiety from constantly striving and the daily effort to fill internal voids with temporary solutions.
Let’s look at God’s Word and let it renew our mind and heart so that when we rise up we will be able to move forward and NEVER return.

When you feel you‘ve had enough and could never be enough….
God is always more than ENOUGH.

“Carefully guard your thoughts because they are the source of true life.”

Ashtanga vinyasa is the foundation of many modern yoga styles now referred to as “flow.” Get back to the roots of vinyasa with this skillful, experienced and gracious teacher.
$35/session or $90 for the whole weekend

Session 1 – Start Here: Intro to Ashtanga.
Friday May 2
5:30-7:30 pm

Session 2 – Yoga Chikitsa : The Primary series.
Saturday May 3
10am-12pm
In the Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga tradition there are 6 series of postures. Each Ashtanga student begins by practicing the Primary Series (known as ‘yoga chikitsa’, which means yoga therapy). In the Ashtanga Vinyasa system, postures are sequenced in a specific order, which has the effect of ‘unlocking’ the body in an intelligent way that prepares the body for ones to come. Each pose has specific health benefits for the practitioner and when combined into a flowing sequence this has the effect of realigning and detoxifying the body and the nervous system as well as developing inner strength, flexibility and improving general health and wellbeing. Join Stacy for this Led Primary Series catered to the group, followed by an Intro to Pranayama – 2 hours

Session 3 – Inquiry and Next Steps-
Saturday May 3
1-3pm
Join Stacy for the final portion of the series to refine your learnings from the weekend. This Asana Study will cover specific postures or sets of postures that students request or need based upon the unfolding of the immersion…what’s on the ticket? You’ll decide together! Backbends, jump throughs, inversions, forward folds, skies the limit…Learn from a seasoned teacher as she observes, assesses, and recommends next steps for you and your practice.

About Stacy Ingham
Director of Ashtanga Yoga School of Raleigh
http://www.aysraleigh.com/
Stacy began her yoga journey with a 6-week intro to Ashtanga class in St Louis in 1998. She has been practicing ever since. She began teaching in the Triangle, North Carolina area in 2001.
A student of David Garrigues since 2009, she has been apprenticing with him since 2014. David is one of the few teachers in the US certified to teach Ashtanga yoga by the late world renowned master Sri K Patthabi Jois.
Studying under David’s expert guidance, Stacy has completed the 3rd Series of Ashtanga yoga, taken on a more serious study of the 8 limbs of Ashtanga yoga, and been inspired to share what she has learned with others.
She has learned over her years as a student and teacher that a strong foundation of body and mind, built and attended to with patience, persistence and an eye for details is key to a long-lasting and fruitful practice and study of yoga.
