One whole blood donation can save up to 3 lives! Someone needs a blood transfusion every two seconds, and one in ten patients entering a hospital will need blood. Over 500 people need to donate every day to meet the daily needs of the hospitals we serve and be prepared for emergencies. In order to collect the units needed, The Blood Connection must screen between 550-600 people a day for blood, platelet, plasma and double red cell units. Blood is good for only 42 days, so donors are needed every day to ensure a stable blood supply.

We have a fellow biker in need of our help. He would never ask for it, so this is why we are putting on a benefit run to help with funeral expenses, a head stone, and to help with his granddaughter that he is now raising alone. Sandra was one of a kind, and always going out of her way to help others in need. She passed away unexpectedly a month ago, and has left a void no one can fill. Kickstands up at 12:00, registration from 11:00 to 12:00. A special friend of Larry’s is coming to Mack Kells early that morning to smoke a pig to feed us all when we return. $6.00 donation per plate. Let’s gather to help our fellow biker that needs our help. This family is dear to my heart… Invite your friends through this page and share it!

This is your chance to get a behind-the scenes look at Michael's creative workspace! Select styles will be on sale as well as new pieces that have not yet been listed on our website or Etsy shop.

The Artist Series at Pure Yoga Asheville incorporates 3 workshops:
(1) Yoga and Writing, September 8th from 2-4 p.m.
(2) Yoga and the Visual Arts, September 15th from 2-4 p.m.
(3) Yoga and Music/Sound Healing, September 22nd from 2-4:30 p.m.
You can sign up for just one individual workshop or all 3 at www.pureyogaavl/events.
Yoga and Writing is led by Dr. Ali McGhee. In this workshop, we’ll weave together a warming, vibrant flow and a guided meditation to ignite creativity, then move into playful, accessible writing games to discover (or re-discover) our unique voices and put pen to paper. We’ll access our own “flow state,” where creative output comes effortlessly, through movement, prompts, and time to share our stories at the end. Participants will leave with a piece of writing to share or spark further creative pursuits, as well as a sheet of prompts and writing games.
This class is open to all, no yoga (or writing) experience necessary! Bring your yoga mat and water, as well as writing tool, paper, and your sense of wonder. Cost for the Artist Series: Yoga and Writing workshop is $18 per person, with PYIC getting a 10% discount.
Ali has published short stories in Dark Mountain and Slippery Elm Literary Journal, and has been a finalist in New South’s and Glimmer Train’s fiction contests. She’s currently working on a novel.

Live Music 2-5pm
https://www.facebook.com/events/1793765914051626/
For nearly 9 years Aaron and Crystal McIntosh have played music together in the Lake Norman area. Between the 2 together, there is nearly 30 years of musical performance history. Their style and sound is one that is described as being a blend of southern rock mixed with some blues, and the folk/bluegrass side of country music. Artist that they enjoy listening to range from Tom Petty to Robert Earl Keen, Pearl Jam to Johnny Cash, Janis Joplin to Sugarland, and that diversity shows in the music that they play. While primarily performing covers songs by some of their favorite artist, there are also some originals on the playlist as well. The song selections they perform are ones that consist of several radio favorites and a lot of obscure tracks that you don’t hear on the radio every day. Their goal is to connect with the people who come out to listen, while at the same time exposing you to songs /artist you may have never heard before.
We welcome them back to the Silver Fork stage!!

Looking for an outdoor family getaway but pressed for time? Join Buncombe County Recreation Services for a quick nature escape and celebrate the Great American Campout.
Camping is a great way to connect with the outdoors and experience a brief moment away from the demands of everyday life. Finding the time to escape is often the hardest part of enjoying an outdoor adventure. In an effort to create an accessible camping outdoor experience, Buncombe County Recreation Services will be opening the Buncombe County Sports Park up for a night of camping and outdoor adventures on Saturday, September 8, 2018. The event is intended to help residents appreciate the wonders of nature and wildlife.
The campout is part of Buncombe County Recreation Service’s “Buncombe Outdoors Adventure Club” program. While our area is well-known for outdoor recreation, venturing out to try new activities can be intimidating for those venturing out for the first time. The Buncombe Outdoors Adventure Club will continue to roll out fun and engaging outdoor opportunities throughout the year.
Preregistration for the Great American Campout at the Buncombe County Sports Park is required. The event will cost $20 per campsite (each site will be approximately 20 feet by 20 feet). The event is intended to be a low frill backyard campout; attendees will need to bring their own tents and sleeping bags.
On-site check will start at 4pm on September 8 and campers will need to be packed up by 9:30am on September 9. The event will include a handful of outdoor activities geared to connect campers with nature and of course s’mores.
