Bears Bees + Brews and Center for Honeybee Research present Pollinators: Secret Superheroes, an intimate dinner experience presenting the instrumental role pollinators play for the culinary world and for a healthy ecosystem.

Join us on Thursday, June 27 at The Asheville Masonic Temple, as Blind Pig prepares a delicious and diverse feast highlighting the tastiest pollinator-derived ingredients, paired by Pisgah Brewing ciders and beers, while enjoying pollinator and conservation presentations that will leave you feeling full of pollinated fare and wisdom. * Vegetarian option available!

Beginner’s workshop lesson at 7:30 P.M., then 8-11 P.M. Contra Dance with Country Waltzing at the break and the final dance. This is a partner dance but it’s not necessary to come with a partner. We have different live bands and callers.

Andy Sandford is a comedian who got funny in Atlanta, GA and is now based out of New York City. Andy has performed his jokes on Conan and The Late Late Show with James Corden, as well as other, less prestigious shows. Andy’s debut album, Me the Whole Time; was one of Splitsider’s “9 Best Standup Albums of The Year.“ His hour special, “Shameful Information,” is currently featured on Amazon Prime. Sandford even played an animated version of himself on Adult Swim’s Aqua Teen Hunger Force. The Village Voice called him, “one of New York’s comedic gems;” and despite all of this, he has managed to remain humble.

Diego Attanasio is a Detroit based comedian originally from Peru who quickly wins over crowds with his quick wit, likability, and sarcastic observations. His rapid-fire delivery and onstage charisma make Diego one of the most notable acts in the midwest.

Diego has performed stand-up in Alaska, Hawaii, and everywhere in between. He was a semi-finalist in the San Diego Comedy Festival and a finalist in the Laugh Your Bluegrass Off Comedy Festival. Sean Patton is a comedian based in Los Angeles and New York, by way of New Orleans. He began doing stand-up in the Crescent City and have since performed in comedy clubs across the US and Canada, as well as The Melbourne International Comedy Festival (2011, 2018), Just for Laughs Chicago (2013), Just for Laughs Toronto (2013), and Just for Laughs Montreal (2008, 2010, 2012, 2016, 2018). He’s performed on Comedy Central’s Live at Gotham (2009), Late Night with Jimmy Fallon (2010), and Conan (2011, 2013). 2013 also marked the release of his Comedy Central Half Hour. On July 13th, 2019 at 7pm, Clan Destiny Circus, an Acrobatic Theater based in Asheville, will debut it’s newest feature show TROUPE at Diana Wortham Theater. It tells the story of a group of survivors at the edge of a nameless battle who come together and form a ‘Circus Troupe’, traveling the war zone and performing for food and other supplies. Self produced with the help of SBA loan from Mountain Bizworks; TROUPE is written, directed and choreographed by Jeff ‘Tree’ Anderson. This show features world-class local acrobats and musicians. Blending classic circus with our unique style of acrobatic theater we create never before seen acts that leave our audiences both amazed and moved.

Brian got his start in DC before moving to New York City, performing on New Faces at Montreal Just For Laughs, and going on to win an Emmy for his writing on Last Week Tonight with John Oliver. He performs standup in NYC and on the road, hosts one of the hottest monthly comedy shows in Brooklyn, and has been selected to perform at a number of other festivals including Laughing Skull, Laughing Devil, Skankfest, Asheville Comedy Festival, Cinderblock, and the Boston Comedy Festival.

Casey Balsham is a comedian and cheese lover out of New York City. She has been seen on Gotham Comedy Live, Tidal’s No Small Talk series and can be heard as one of the co-hosts of the popular Not Another True Crime Podcast by Betches. Casey was also the lead in the Off Broadway musical HA! and wrote and starred in her own one woman show called “Casey Balsham Does A Thing”.
