Ty Segall (Solo Acoustic) w/ Greg Cartwright at The Grey Eagle
Nov 15 @ 9:00 pm – Nov 16 @ 12:00 am
The Grey Eagle

Ty Segall (Solo Acoustic)
w/ Greg Cartwright (of Reigning Sound)
at The Grey Eagle

Ty Segall’s Goblin Phase One North American tour is just about over. Whoa. EPIC. Now that he and the Freedom Band have knocked the rust off cages all around the country, it must be time to get alone, right? Yeah man! For a couple weeks – then the European tour. So, alone time later in June, then? Sure, for a little minute. But then it’s time for the BEST kind of alone time – a solo acoustic tour. Just Ty, the guitar – and you. Sounds intimate, huh? Well, ol’ kid can work up a storm even with only six semi-unplugged strings at his disposal. Extra excitement will be churned by Ty doing all sorts of songs he doesn’t usually play. It’s gonna be great! Acoustically speaking, we can’t wait. Ty Segall goes acoustic! Coming in October.

Dorfex’s live show is a journey of emotion and low end vibration that incorporates original tracks from Tursi’s sizable back catalogue. December 2017 saw the release of his mix “Skin Cycle Vol 1”, a 45 minute mix of all original material. Dorfex Bos is well known for his collaborations with Bassnectar that include the self titled track “Dorfex Bos”, “Horizons”, “Other Worlds” and the much loved, anthemic, “Hold On”. 2018 has much in store, including several releases and collaborations.”

Amoramora at The One Stop | Asheville, NC
Nov 15 @ 10:00 pm – Nov 16 @ 2:00 am
The One Stop at Asheville Music Hall

The Colorado boys Amoramora make their Asheville DEBUT with Two Sets at The One Stop!

:|: AMORAMORA :|:
Amoramora played over 100 shows in 60 different cities around the U.S. in 2017, toured to both coasts twice and played two sold-out hometown shows at the Fox Theatre and Boulder Theater. Their song ‘Bloom’ was featured on Sirius XM’s Jam On channel, and their song ‘Coming Back’ was featured in Relix Magazine’s August 2017 Issue.

Featuring an upbeat blend of Funk, Bluegrass, African Highlife and Jazz Fusion, these Rocky Mountain Boys harken back to the early days of the jam-rock scene that just oozed positivity which nurtured bands like Blind Melon, String Cheese Incident, and Strangefolk . Fueled by high-energy improvisation, the undeniable joy this quartet shares onstage and offstage is reflected by their devout and growing fanbase, the Amorons. Based out of Boulder, CO, the band has a commitment to consistently changing setlists, expanding their already extensive catalog of original material, and stirring the musical gumbo. Along with the deep instrumental blend of guitar, keyboard, trumpet, EWI, bass & drums, all four members are also vocalists.

The Bellamy Brothers
Nov 16 all-day
Smoky Mountain Center for the Performing Arts
The Bellamy Brothers @ Smoky Mountain Center for the Performing Arts

For more than 30 years, the Bellamy Brothers have been the unassuming picture of consistency in Country music, crafting honest, heartfelt songs that connect with millions of listeners around the world. Even more remarkable is the fact that they’ve remained relevant in a genre that has become increasingly enamored with style over substance and fleeting celebrity over artistic vision. Yet, Howard and David Bellamy have weathered the trends admirably, enjoying enormous success throughout their career with Numerous No 1 hits on both the Pop and Country charts. Evidence of the Brothers’ continued popularity today isn’t too hard to find. In 2009, “Let Your Love Flow” received the distinguished BMI Five Million Performance Award and was listed as one of the top songs of the century. The Bellamy Brothers’ success and longevity is a feat that few act have duplicated. What began as an unlikely duo from Darby, FL has emerged 35 years later as one of the most successful and respected groups in Country music history.

Reclaimed Creations
Nov 16 @ 8:00 am – 6:00 pm
NC Arboretum

Reclaimed Creations is a unique sculpture exhibit created by renowned artist Sayaka Ganz. Utilizing reclaimed plastic objects, such as discarded utensils, Ganz creates amazing sculptures that visually appear unified at a distance, but are in fact separated when examined up close. Described as using a “3D impressionistic” style, Ganz’s exhibit includes installations of animals in motion, which are in rich in color and energy, to create an illusion of form.

About the Artist

Born in Yokohama, Japan, Sayaka Ganz grew up living in Japan, Brazil and Hong Kong. She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Indiana University, Bloomington, and a Master of Fine Arts degree in sculpture from Bowling Green State University in Ohio. A lecturer and teacher, Ganz’s work has been displayed at various institutions around the globe, including the Hermann Geiger Foundation in Cecina, Italy, the Isle Gallery in Isle of Man, and the Monterey Bay Aquarium in California.

My work is about perceiving harmony, even in situations that appear chaotic from the inside. When observing my sculptures up close, one might see gaps, holes and items being held on only by small points; step away, however, and the sculptures reveal the harmony created when the objects are aligned to the same general (but not identical) direction. Similarly, it is important to gain perspective by stepping back from current problems and look at the larger picture. Then one can perceive the beauty and patterns that exist.”

Ancestral Lineage Healing Intensive (Asheville, NC)
Nov 16 @ 10:00 am – Nov 18 @ 5:00 pm

Co-led by Sarah Foor and Shannon Willis.

Everyone has loving and wise ancestors, and by reaching out for their support we access tremendous vitality for personal and family healing. In addition to supporting repairs with living family, our ancestors encourage healthy self-esteem and help us to clarify our destiny, relationships, and work in the world.

Participants will learn to relate safely and directly with family ancestors, both helpful guides and the dead in need of assistance. The work will closely follow Dr. Foor’s book, Ancestral Medicine: Rituals for Personal and Family Healing. Expect to engage lineage ancestors in heart-centered ritual through prayer/song, visioning practices, and group dialogue. There are no prerequisites, however, prior experience with inner work and relating with spirit guides/teachers are both helpful.

Folks new to ancestor work, adoptees, and those with a tough experience of family are warmly welcome. The training will be a trauma-aware, multicultural ritual container that embraces the relationship of ancestral engagement with cultural healing. Those with a healing arts practice will learn some new skills to support your work. Spaces are limited, 10am-5pm each day, cost is $400 for the three full days of ritual/training (some spaces available for reduced cost/scholarship to keep the work accessible, please inquire directly). Preregistration and full attendance requested.

Register at: https://ancestralmedicine.org/event/intensive-asheville-11-16-2018/

We are strongly committed to keeping the work accessible to people of diverse backgrounds and variable means while also supporting our amazing teachers. If you need financial assistance to be able to join, please see our application for payment plans and partial scholarship spaces at https://ancestralmedicine.org/scholarship-application. If you would like to join us in keeping this work accessible or if you have enjoyed financial assistance previously and now wish to extend this gift to others, please consider a donation to our scholarship fund at https://ancestralmedicine.org/scholarship-fund.

Sarah Foor, MFT (Asheville, NC) has served diverse populations as a counselor in San Francisco public schools, in hospital settings, and through intensive family therapy in North Carolina. She also completed a two-year training in the Hakomi Method and has worked as a massage therapist. She is an initiate in the Ifá/Òrìṣà tradition of Yorùbá-speaking West Africa in the lineage of Olúwo Fálolú Adésànyà, and she has made several pilgrimages to train with elders in Nigeria. Her people are earlier settlers to North America from the British Isles, Germany, and France, and her orientation to spiritual practice is rooted in respect for the body, the sacred feminine, and the natural world. For more info see: http://www.samarahealing.com.

Shannon Willis, M.Ed (Athens, GA) is a ritual healing practitioner, teacher and founder of Heart Path Studio, a non-profit organization in Athens which aims to create a new folk culture of relating with the unseen world through the convergence of animistic and shamanic principles. Having made pilgrimage to Nigeria, she is also an initiate in the Ifá/Òrìṣà tradition of Yoruba-speaking West Africa in the lineage of Olúwo Fálolú Adésànyà. She holds a Master’s degree in Professional Leadership and Counseling. Her work addresses the cultural wounding of the feminine through patriarchy and focuses primarily on supporting others with their blood lineage ancestors and healing of the collective other unhealed ones through land-based ritual. She provides individual sessions, online and in-person workshops. Her ancestors hail from the British Isles, France, and Cherokee, Chickasaw, and Choctaw nations. For more info see: http://www.redearthhealing.org.

We acknowledge this event is taking place in the ancestral lands of the Cherokee people. Folks whose ancestors are indigenous to this area are welcome to join this event by donation or gifting. We encourage participants to become educated on the history of the land and to support local Native organizations.

In Times of Seismic Sorrows
Nov 16 @ 10:00 am – 6:00 pm
Center for Craft

When reflecting on the current state of the environment, it seems that we have entered into times of seismic sorrows. Carbon emissions, water pollution, fracking, and changing climate patterns all point to a troubling reality with serious consequences for human and non-human populations. Through weavings, installations, sculpture, and print, artists Rena Detrixhe and Tali Weinberg (Tulsa, OK) explore the complex relationship between humans and the planet, offering insights, expressing grief, and creating space for resilience and change.

In Time of Seismic Sorrows is curated by Marilyn Zapf and organized by the Center for Craft. The Center for Craft is supported in part by the N.C. Arts Council, a division of the Department of Natural and Cultural Resources.
