Asheville GreenWorks is hosting a Pollinator Day booth for its Bee City USA program at the North Asheville Tailgate Market. Pollenteers will paint bees & flowers on children’s knuckles and outfit them with bee or butterfly antennae for a scavenger hunt of the market to find the foods that benefit from the help of a pollinator and win a prize. Don’t miss the caterpillar zoo!

Bee City USA – Hendersonville is eager to help you share the wonder of pollinators with children you teach. The kit includes sets of 12 sturdy child-size insect nets, special bug capture bubbles, bug boxes with magnifying lids, and magnifying glasses. Two pop-up insect habitats and two sets of laminated fold-out field guides (NC Trees & Wildflowers, NC Butterflies & Moths, Bees & Other Pollinators) are also included. The kit can be loaned for up to a week (as available) and may be picked up and returned weekdays 9am-4pm.

There’s nothing like an early summer hike before the Park gates open. Join a local birding expert and spot some of our resident species as they enjoy the morning quiet. This hike is perfect whether you’re a lifelong birder or just getting started with America’s fastest-growing hobby.

A sunny spot in the yard presents the perfect opportunity to replace a section of turf grass with a colorful and ecologically-rich native meadow. This course will cover meadow design, plant species selection, site prep, planting methods, and maintenance. Indoor and outdoor class, starts with a slide presentation and talk followed by a garden walk.
