Auditions For Honky Tonk Angels
Auditions for our September show, Honky Tonk Angels, will be held
Sunday, July 16, 2023 @ 3:00 p.m. and
Monday, July 17, 2023 @ 7:00 p.m.
at Tryon Little Theater Workshop, 516 S. Trade St., Tryon, NC.
Show dates: September 28- October 1 (5 performances at Tryon Fine Arts Center).
Rehearsals will begin mid-August. Director: Dan Harvey & Music Director: Pam McNeil
Needed: 3 women
Strong singers in the country/gospel style
Each Auditioner will:
1. Sing a short SOLO in the country or gospel style. (Bring sheet music for the accompanist.)
2. Participate in a short DANCE audition.
3. READ from the script.
When three gutsy gals from different backgrounds take charge of their lives, they decide to follow their honky tonk dreams to the city of Nashville. Combining 30 classic country tunes (including “Stand By Your Man,” “9 to 5,” “Harper Valley PTA,” and more!) Honky Tonk Angels is a hilarious, foot-stomping good time from the creator of Always… Patsy Cline.
CHARACTERS:
– ANGELA (late 30s- early 40s). A Texas housewife who has a great sense of humor and a fiercely independent streak. She identifies with “Roseanne,” an earth-mother comedienne.
– DARLENE (late teens- early 20s). A young woman from the Deep South. She is pretty, sweet, and simple. She grew up in a coal mining town in West Virginia and the Mississippi Delta. She plays simple guitar. She also clogs.
– SUE ELLEN (early to mid- 30s). A Los Angeles career woman. She is a “citified” country girl. Smart, very attractive, sexy and frustrated. She dances, roller skates, and twirls baton (if possible). She also clogs. She should be a very good dancer.

We are gearing up for a youth talent showcase to be held at Burial Beer (South Slope location) at our August 13 event: LEAF Famtastic Sunday. The Talent Showcase will kick off at Burial starting at 1 p.m. Want to be part of it? Auditions are on Saturdays in July at LEAF Global Arts. The talent showcase is free to enter and the August 13 event is free as well.

We are excited to share that XP League Asheville will have its Open House activities over the next few Saturdays where early sign-ups will receive a Founding Member discount for life. We are excited to share that XP League Asheville will have its Open House activities over the next few Saturdays where early sign-ups will receive a Founding Member discount for life. Are you thinking “What is XP League?” 🙂 A few years ago the founders of this NC based franchise recognized that online video game environments could be extremely toxic, so they created a league where kids ages 7-17 could join a team and play in person against other youth teams across the country while enjoying a safe environment, PCA certified coach-led sessions, and receive training on how to play with a positive mindset. We accept live performances from 5 to 60 minutes in length, plus installations and films. We’re open to other types of performance as well – let’s talk! Depending on its length, your piece may be grouped with another show, or scheduled as a Random Act of Fringe. RAFs are free and open to the public, and artists receive a stipend for their performance, rather than relying on door sales.
Typically each artist with a ticketed show gets 2 performances. But in 2024, we’re exploring the option of giving a few shows 3 performances, at select venues only. Our venues range from 20-80 person capacity.

The Perspective Café is kicking off 2023 with a classic bang! Grab your friends and join us each Sunday from 2pm to 5pm in the Perspective Café to play an assortment of board and card games. You can even bring your own favorite games from home to share with new friends.
The Perspective Cafe will be offering special snacks and cocktails including $6 local beers and ciders, and freshly popped old-fashioned popcorn to enjoy while you play and enjoy a memorable afternoon! Enjoy the galleries and then head up to the rooftop.
