BARK & BOLT RACES

Presented by Hunter Subaru

Unleash the Fun at this Dog-Friendly Race Event

JUNE 14, 2024

The Bark and Bolt race in Hendersonville, North Carolina, is a thrilling and heartwarming event that brings together both paws and people. This unique race allows dogs and their owners to celebrate physical fitness and outdoor activity together. It’s not just about the race, though; the event fosters a sense of community, promoting the bond between dogs and their owners while also raising awareness about responsible pet ownership. With its lively atmosphere and the joyful barks of four-legged participants, the Bark and Bolt race is an exciting race for humans and their canine companions to run or walk across the finish line together!

All races will begin and end in Hendersonville’s Patton Park. The 5K course is a scenic, out and back route that follows the Oklawaha Greenway. There are some moderate hills but the majority of the course is flat. The 1-mile race also follows the Greenway and has one hill just before the finish. It too is on paved surfaces and both courses will have a single water station along the route. The Paw Pursuit 100 Meter Dash is our shortest race for the most well-behaved pups. It’s a quick sprint where dogs run alongside their owners to demonstrate their speed and agility. Dogs will be divided into three weight classes: Lightweight, Middleweight, and Heavyweight.

Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library impacts the pre-literacy skills and school readiness of children under the age of 5 in Buncombe County. The program mails a new, free, age-appropriate book to registered children each month until they turn five years old. Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library creates a home library of up to 60 books and instills a love of books and reading from an early age. If you have any questions about the program, please send an email to [email protected].

A national panel of educators selects the Imagination Library titles, which include: The Little Engine that Could, Last Stop on Market Street, Violet the Pilot, As an Oak Tree Grows, The Tale of Peter Rabbit, Llama Llama Red Pajama, Look Out Kindergarten, here I come, and many more (take a look at all the titles).

Register your child now!

Program Launch and Expansions

Literacy Together became a Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library affiliate in November 2015 with support from the Buncombe Partnership for Children. Through this program, registered children in Buncombe County receive a free book in the mail each month. Their parents also have the opportunity to attend workshops to learn how to build their children’s early literacy skills. Parents in need of literacy assistance are encouraged to receive tutoring through Literacy Together’s adult programming.

The program served 200 children during the 2015/16 fiscal year. The program expanded to serve 400 children in July 2016, and 600 in August 2017. In July 2018, capacity increased to 1,900 thanks to a special allocation in the North Carolina state budget. We’re now serving 4,600 kids in Buncombe County.

The Tri Local Duo Series: Hendersonville Triathlon and Asheville Triathlon
Jun 15 all-day
Hendersonville Triathlon and Asheville Triathlon

Participating in a triathlon is an exhilarating journey that promises not only physical challenges but also personal growth and a profound sense of accomplishment. The Tri Local Duo was developed not only to elevate this challenge, but foster a community of encouragement, training and support. Whether you’re a seasoned athlete or a novice looking for a transformative experience, the Tri Local Duo welcomes everyone.

The Tri Local Duo Series consists of the following Western North Carolina triathlons:

Hendersonville Triathlon | June 15, 2024
Asheville Triathlon | July 21, 2024

Embrace the opportunity to conquer your doubts, break through limits, and become a part of a supportive community of like-minded individuals.

iDaph Events has teamed up with iDream Athletes Foundation and other local, multi-sport community leaders to create and bring to you the Tri Local Community. We will be offering triathlon clinics, group training opportunities, a community to find training partners, pre-race course re-cons, transition zone coaching and of course two amazing, local triathlon events.

HOW TO JOIN:

To be eligible to attend the offerings and to participate in the Tri Local Community happenings, participants must sign up for the new TRI LOCAL DUO Series by registering for BOTH the 2024 Hendersonville Triathlon and the 2024 Asheville Triathlon. After you register for both events, you are automatically entered into the TRI LOCAL DUO Challenge.

Participate either virtually or in-person (or a combo of both.) We are offering this option for those of you that may have other events/vacations/family happenings on the race dates that might prevent you from attending in person but you want to be part of the new series and the community! If you participate virtually, you will race the distances wherever and whenever you want to and submit your results online.

All participants that are in the TRI LOCAL DUO Series will have exclusive access to all the fun and informative offerings coming up this winter/spring/summer. Due to limited resources and availability, ONLY participants that are registered for both of the 2024 Tri Local races are eligible to be part of the Tri Local Community and its offerings.

At the Asheville Triathlon on July 21st, participants that have completed both races will get a super cool and unique Tri Local Duo medal to commemorate their experience.
