Shinyribs defies genres as a sonic melting pot of Texas Blues, New Orleans R&B funk, horn driven Memphis Soul, country twang, border music, big band swing, and roots-rock. The Austin based nine-piece (sometimes 10-piece) supergroup is led by Kevin Russell, the charismatic frontman with colorful suits and extravagant shoes who continuously swaps out an electric guitar for a ukulele and never falls short of creating a cinematic experience with on-stage antics that often include him donning a light-up cloak or leading a conga line through the crowd.

People discover Chuck Ragan in different ways. Some people know Ragan from the pioneering punk act Hot Water Music he’s co-fronted for the past three decades. Others are aware of his successful solo career or the Revival Tour, a collection of traveling troubadours that included his peers like Frank Turner and the Gaslight Anthem’s Brian Fallon. Some folks may have even come across him from the successful fly fishing operation he runs out of Grass Valley, California. The one throughline through all this is the way that Ragan approaches everything with a level of honesty and integrity that can’t be faked—and that sentiment is undeniable on Love And Lore, his first solo collection in ten years and one that’s being released as Hot Water Music take a well-deserved victory lap for their breakout album Vows, which came out earlier this year.

Lord Nelson have been covering the backroads and highways of this country, bringing their version of rock ’n roll to anyone that will listen. Rooted in central Virginia, the songs depict a landscape of hard choices with a wry sense of humor. Leaning into the curve, aware of the choices that put you on that bend. Bringing together folk, rock, blues, and country in the most natural sense, their latest studio album, “Transmission”, charted on the Americana charts and garnered play across the country. Currently working on their follow up, slated for a late 2024 release, the road shows no signs of slowing down.

Melissa Carper and Theo Lawrence barely knew each other when they started singing songs together in the fall of 2023. Little introduction was needed to get down to action (get down to business or get into the action) because what these two were supposed (intended or meant?) to do together went without saying : songs needed to be written, harmonies had to be sung and an album must be made.
This visionary trio is back in Asheville by popular demand to deliver another round of virtuosic performance with its signature humor and insight. Be sure to get your tickets early for this audience favorite, consistently praised for their masterful sensitivity and nuance, ultra-refined musicianship, tight ensemble work and musical intelligence.
