We are seeking volunteers to assist us in our small after school program for children in West Asheville in low-income housing. We provide a safe and nourishing environment, healthy snacks, and creative activities. Our program currently meets during the school year on most Tuesday and Thursday afternoons from 3:00-5:00pm. You may volunteer for one or two days a week.
Volunteer Responsibilities:
- Assist with serving snacks
- Interact with children during activity time
- Supervise games and outdoor free time
- For people with background in education, there is also an opportunity to assist with curriculum development and program planning and administration
Requirements:
- Background check
- Orientation booklets will be provided
- Masks are required if unvaccinated

We’re putting our build crew back together and we’d love to have you join us. Every 2 weeks, we’ll meet at 9 am for hands-on set construction! Whether your talents are building, painting, or you just want to learn, come out and join us every other Saturday for some creative fun. Tools and work gloves are helpful but not required

Join us on Sundays this Fall and Winter for $10 to ride Kolo Bike Park on over 125 acres beside Downtown Asheville! Enjoy pump tracks, skills area, trails, skinnys, berms, table tops and much more! Littleville is also included for our youngest shredders. Rentals not included.

Our first passholder-exclusive event of the year! Join a naturalist for an intimate hike with fellow passholders in an area of the Park not typically open to the public. This moderate hike traverses our own old growth forest and gives you the opportunity to learn what makes this ecosystem unique. This event is exclusively for Annual Passholders.
Maurice is hosting the Wednesday Fika at this lovely Asheville Park. We will meet in the rear of Weaver Park right near the parking area off Murdock Ave and Norwood Ave (not the front area along Merrimon with the tennis courts).
Look for our group in the grassy area near the pavilion, right near the parking. Or, we might be under the pavilion.
Please bring your own chair.

Join the Blue Ridge Audubon, a chapter of the National Audubon Society for their monthly bird walk at Jackson Park, a renowned
birding location. On the 2nd Saturday of each month, meet at the Administration Building parking lot, located on Glover Street,
and join the group to see the many wonderful birds found at Jackson Park, Hendersonville’s largest park.8-10:00am.

The Junior League of Asheville, Inc. (JLA) will hold its fifth annual Volunteer Expo, on Saturday, February 11, 2023 from 12 to 3 PM at the Crowne Plaza Expo Center. Modeled after a job fair, this free event will feature local nonprofits looking to fill ongoing and future volunteer needs. Nonprofits in almost every area of community concern will be present at the event: health, poverty, legal aid, environmental stewardship, women’s issues, arts, civic leadership, technology, education and animal welfare.
Excitement for the Volunteer Expo continues to grow. The 2022 event featured over 70 non-profits and was attended by more than 600 community members coming to network and sign up to volunteer with nonprofit organizations.
We invite all area nonprofits to apply to participate in the 2023 Volunteer Expo that will bring hundreds of prospective volunteers, donors and board members to your booth! This is a great opportunity to network, gain exposure and share about your mission.
We also invite all local businesses to be a part of our 2023 Volunteer Expo! Join us for a night of poetry and storytelling all about the pros, cons, and weirdness of sharing your body with others. All donations will be given directly to Asheville Prison Books. “Asheville Prison Books is a volunteer-run collective which has distributed free literature to people incarcerated in the southeast since 1999. We currently distribute books to North and South Carolina.

This event will be taking place in the covered outdoor space, so we suggest people dress warmly.
Experience the Park during our quieter months on Chimney Rock’s Winter Homeschool Day. Morning programs seasonally focused on winter in the natural world are designed to engage students through a variety of topics and hands-on learning. Plus, plan to stay after lunch for a guided hike or to explore the Park at your own pace.

Try Tai Chi at the Weaverville Library! Learn more about the gentle art of Tai Chi. These Thursday PM sessions are suitable for beginners and regular practitioners alike. You may join at any point in the series. Come as often as you are able. No pre-registration is necessary. All ages are welcome. Children must have adult partners participating. Come try Tai Chi! ESOL Tutor Training Dates:
In this seminar we look into the fundamentals of bad habits and how to overcome them. How are habits formed, and how can they be changed? Many struggle with a variety of habits ranging from anger, lack of forgiveness, lust, addictions to substances, repetitive unhealthy thoughts and a host of other vices. In this seminar we look at scientific, health, and Biblical principles that aid in the victory over habits. Presented by Chad and Fadia Kreuzer. Chad and Fadia share seminars on health, the Bible, and overcoming habits. They have taught in Europe and throughout North America.

The course consists of a 4.2 mile loop that has 426 feet of elevation per loop. The course consists of packed dirt, a few grass sections, and a series of service gravel paths around the lake. The course will have a series of directional arrows that will be placed at all intersections. Please follow all directional arrows to stay on course.
