Every year we brew a new batch of Christmas Jam here at Sierra Nevada Mills River and celebrate by hosting a party! This is a FREE event with a suggested donation at the door for Asheville Area Habitat for Humanity. Live music from Selwyn Birchwood.

Christmas Jam Session Ale 2018-
From the opening chord to the final encore, this hop-heavy beer is the perfect match for an all-night party. Brewed for Asheville’s one-of-a-kind musical marvel, the annual Christmas Jam, this session ale features bright hop flavors of citrus and stone fruit with just a hint of piney hop character–all in a well-balanced and easy-going package, just right for jam-worthy drinkability.

Asheville Area Habitat for Humanity-
“Safe and decent housing provides families an opportunity for stability, security and personal and professional advancement. Yes, we build houses and help preserve existing homes, but we also change lives.”
The Asheville Affiliates, was founded in 1999 as a social networking group for young professionals to benefit area nonprofits. The organization has grown into a community network of more than 3,000 members. The organization has raised more than $265,000 for 50 nonprofits. All Aboard THE POLAR EXPRESS! This memorable journey will take you on an incredible journey! Believe the magic this Holiday season!
Over 88,000 guests rode THE POLAR EXPRESS with the Great Smoky Mountains Railroad in 2017 and we hope to see you in 2018! The 1¼ hour round-trip excursion comes to life as the train departs the Bryson City depot for a journey through the quiet wilderness for a special visit at the North Pole. Set to the sounds of the motion picture soundtrack, guests on board will enjoy warm cocoa and a treat while listening and reading along with the magical story. Children’s faces show the magic of the season when the train arrives at the North Pole to find Santa Claus waiting. Santa will board THE POLAR EXPRESS, greeting each child and presenting them with a special gift as in the story, their own silver sleigh bell. Christmas carols will be sung as they return back to the Bryson City Depot.
THE POLAR EXPRESS begins November 9, 2018, and operates through December 31, 2018.

Sick reindeer can’t stop Santa from delivering presents, when magical possums come to the rescue in “Fly Possum Fly,” the new Christmas storybook written and illustrated by singer/songwriter Grant Maloy Smith. Based on a song that Grant recorded with teen country music sensation EmiSunshine, “Fly Possum Fly” is perfect for ages 3-10. Black Tie Affair/Silent Auction to assist with bills for our sweet Noah McFall who has just been placed on the donor list for a TRIPLE organ transplant! He has CF, and now has a chance at a longer, healthier life!! Noah will be the youngest to date to ever have this procedure. Not only do we need to keep them covered with prayer, they also need our financial help, so purchase your ticket beginning next week, and be ready for a great evening.. Wreaths Across America fundraiser at Sam’s Club In Hendersonville. We will be there Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 5pm. Stop by and sponsor a wreath to be laid upon a veterans grave in Black Mountain on December 15. Wreaths are $15. All proceeds go to a great cause: Veterans services and our local Civil Air Patrol cadet program.

CoThinkk is a “giving circle” that uses our collective time, talent, and treasure towards investment strategies that address education, economic mobility/opportunity, and leadership development towards impacting some of the most critical social issues facing African-American & Latinx communities in Asheville and Western NC.
This meeting will be a reflection space for our October Annual Event and strategic planning session for our future.
This meeting will provide an opportunity for us to continue to move our collective agenda, plot out next steps in our committees: our February Member Mixer/Fundraiser, a Capacity Building Workshop, and planning On-Boarding for new members.
We are encouraging existing and new members to bring others with you as we move into the next leg of our journey as 2018 comes to an end!

ABOUT OUR BENEFICIARIES:
Youth OUTright WNC is the only youth advocacy and leadership non-profit organization in the region solely dedicated to empowering lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, questioning/queer, intersex, asexual and allied (LGBTQIA+) youth ages 11-20 in Western North Carolina. We engage our youth to be confident, resilient, and compassionate community members. We provide information, support and resources in a safer, inclusive and affirming environment. We believe that no youth should be bullied, harassed or discriminated against because of who they are or are perceived to be.
Sweet Bear Rescue Farm is home to 40 animals with a constant revolving door of fosters and rescues including pigs, chickens, cats, dogs, goats, and turkeys. The farm is a beacon of hope for animals of all species — a place where kindness and compassion are the norm, and all individuals are treated with love and respect. Sweet Bear is dedicated to changing the world, spreading the values of veganism, and creating a safe haven for those who’ve experienced abuse and neglect. Visitors can learn about the intelligence, emotional capacity, and complexity of these wonderful animals.

Entering its 11th year, the Staff Senate Scholarship supports currently enrolled or accepted, incoming students who are children and relatives of staff members. The scholarship is awarded to two or three students each year and it is our hope to grow the scholarship fund to enable us to support more students.
