Cards for HVL Causes are unique and thoughtful handmade greeting cards covering a wide range of occasions from Holidays, Thank You, Love and Friendship, Thinking of You, Birthday, Sympathy, and more. In addition, the limited edition BRHS Mother’s Day card will be available for purchase to honor the mothers and the people who show mom-like love.
Cards for HVL Causes was founded by Kathy Wrobel in 2019, and is a non-profit, volunteer-run organization that creates handmade cards for resale that benefit select area non-profits. Kathy shares: “When I began thinking about retirement, I knew I wanted to use my card-making expertise and materials to give back in thanksgiving for all my life’s blessings.” Cards for HVL Causes was created with the model of continuous circle of giving, encompassing volunteers, non-profits, customers, card recipients, and donors.
The Blue Ridge Humane Society, Inc., is a 501(c)3 animal welfare organization started in 1950 dedicated to ensuring the highest quality of life for animals in Henderson County and our neighboring communities. BRHS cares for pets awaiting adoption and in foster homes; offers low-cost vaccine clinics, animal education programs, pet training classes, and youth education and projects; coordinates community pet food assistance, emergency vet assistance, and the Spay Neuter Incentive Program (SNIP), which is a collaboration with Henderson County, the City of Hendersonville, and the Henderson County Animal Services Center.
If you believe in our cause, consider making a donation or learning how to volunteer by visiting the Blue Ridge Humane Society’s website at www.blueridgehumane.org or call (828) 692-2639.

We are excited about inviting local and regional actors to come and try out for roles in our simulation events and the production of a series of mini movies called Stories. Our mission at the REAL Academy is to equip social workers with the tools and confidence to make good decisions in child welfare cases. We have seen the benefits of simulation training for social workers and the best way to provide that is using skilled actors to play realistic roles that challenge students before they practice in the community. This is a great opportunity for theatre students and professional actors alike because they will be paid for their work and also contribute to communities across North Carolina.
