Dr. John Wilson Community Garden in Black Mountain will host this celebration. “Imbolc” translates as “the belly of the mother.” It is the time when the living world begins to stir and stretch beneath the dark earth in preparation for spring. All winter and last season they have been pruning fruit and nut trees and clearing invasive species from various areas of the garden. Join them to gather around a fire to burn the brush and mark the coming spring.
Bring a mug for tea and a blanket or chair to sit on.

Join us to learn about the latest developments on planning and construction of the Ecusta Trail, as well as potential trail enhancements and connections that could occur in the future. Initial construction of the Ecusta Trail will be bare bones, but there is the potential for many types of amenities that will vastly improve the user experience and involve community collaboration. During this presentation, Mark Tooley, president of Friends of Ecusta Trail (FOET), will discuss some of the ideas that are being discussed for future development of the trail. Studies have found that the more connectivity a trail has to other trails and popular destinations, the more useful and desirable it becomes. Mark will share information about how the Ecusta Trail connects with existing trails or those being planned in the region which will help provide connectivity for an enhanced user experience.

The Theme!
It’s our 17th annual official parade and the theme is: Secret Garden! March participants are welcome to riff on this theme or go in a completely different direction because, after all, we’re all about individuality!
Members March!
At least one representative of each krewe MUST be a member of Asheville Mardi Gras and must supply one parade volunteer. Keep in mind that the only way the parade survives is through membership support, so if more than one person joins up — we would certainly appreciate it! To become a member, CLICK HERE.
And, speaking of krewes …
Join a Krewe!
You’re welcome to march solo, or with a group of your friends, as part of a krewe. You may even be able to join one of our existing krewes! All we ask is that you dress up, show up and bring some goodies like candy or beads to hand out to the parade attendees.
Click here to sign up as a new krewe.

Everyone is invited to our monthly game night. I bring a group of games each month but feel free to bring your own as well. No specific games are set up for the night, we just bring a bunch of stuff from our collections and play some pick-up games. We have the tables and chairs. Bring your own food if you’d like (there is a microwave and fridge). There is also a Chinese place across the street, a convenience store for drinks and snacks, and we’re in walking distance to Hot Dog World. If you have any questions about the types of games we play and basic info about our group, Read our FAQ (https://www.meetup.com/HendoHometownGameGeeks/about/)
NOTE: This event is held at a church but it is not a church event, it is a community event. Everyone is welcome, everyone should feel comfortable attending, and while I’m always happy to privately answer questions about my faith or the church if asked, proselytizing is not the purpose of these gatherings. I hope the location does not make anyone feel uncomfortable and if you have any questions you can message me directly.
