Falling, a solo exhibition of contemporary paintings by Michael Francis Reagan, opens at Grovewood Gallery on Saturday, June 9, with an artist’s reception from 2-5pm (free and open to the public). This show will feature acrylic paintings on canvas from Reagan’s popular Falling Series, inspired by a haunting memory of a childhood encounter with a mourning dove that had fallen from the sky. This exhibition will remain on view through Sunday, July 15, 2018.
Reagan received a degree in art and American literature and an MFA in painting from the University of Arkansas. Aside from his paintings, Reagan has established himself as one of American’s leading mapmakers. As a freelance illustrator, he has been employed by major publications such as National Geographic, The New Yorker, Smithsonian magazine, Travel and Leisure, and The New York Times. Reagan’s bird paintings and environmental maps continue to be commissioned by Audubon, The Nature Conservancy, The National Parks of America, and other conservation organizations.
A comedy by Norm Foster (The Affections of May). In this side-splitting and thought-provoking new comedy, Leon and Bill concoct a list of attributes of the ideal woman – the top ten best qualities in a mate. When this allegedly “Ideal Woman” actually arrives on the scene the men quickly learn that their list could use a few revisions. Be careful what you wish for – especially in choosing a mate. This old adage leads to hilarious results in Foster’s sparkling comic hit.
Matinees: Wednesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays at 2:00PM
Evenings: Wednesdays and Thursdays at 7:30PM. Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00PM

Montford Park Players presents Swashbuckling Family Fun,
Robin Hood, the Legend of Sherwood,
by Jeff Messer and Robert Akers
Show Dates:
July 6-August 4
Friday, Saturday and Sunday @ 7:30pm
Hazel Robinson Amphitheatre, 92 Gay St. Asheville, NC
Montford Park Players, an Asheville theatrical tradition, is proud announce their upcoming production of the locally-penned Robin Hood, the Legend of Sherwood. All performances will be held at the Hazel Robinson Amphitheatre at 92 Gay Street in the heart of Asheville’s historic Montford District, from July 6th through August 4th on Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings at 7:30pm. This performance like ALL of Montford Park Players’ shows will be absolutely FREE to attend.
The show will contain all swordplay, romance and humor we’ve come to expect from film and book versions of the legend over the years. Families are most welcome to this show and kids, in particular, will be enthralled with all of the action.
Director Michael Lilly, is a first-time director at Montford, despite helming productions all over Western North Carolina. In his career, Lilly has staged over 150 different shows, but is thrilled to be directing this show, due to a particular love of the source material. “Every time another Super Hero movie comes out,” says Lilly, “it’s just another version of Robin Hood.”
Montford Park Players has never performed Robin Hood before, and, in fact, it may be the first, full outdoor staging of the story in play form. Says Director Lilly, “The Hazel Robinson is the perfect venue for it. And just like the epic films, there is a cast of thousands!”
The play will be directed by Michael Lilly, with Robin Hood played by local actor, Ryan Martin, with an all-star cast of locals at his side: Julianne Arnall as Maid Marian, George Heard as Friar Tuck, Travis Kelley as Little John and David Mycoff as the villainous Sheriff of Nottingham. In all, over thirty talented actors will take the stage to make this show as epic as everyone expects.
For more information or to reserve seats, go to montfordparkplayers.org, or call at (828) 254-5146.
