WHITE HORSE LIVE: Blind Phoenix
Dec 5 @ 7:30 pm
White Horse Black Mountain
WHITE HORSE LIVE: Blind Phoenix

Co-produced by White Horse Black Mountain and RadHaus Studio!

Blind Phoenix is back with more great Americana music. Co-leads Chris Daniels and Rebekkah Hilgraves range from smoky and bluesy to silly and fun, with songs about love, loss, driving in cars (or doing another sort of driving).

They are joined by bassist Michael Filippone and drummer James Kylen, with special guest pianist/vocalist Chris Rosser.

As many bands do, Blind Phoenix started by accident. Chris Daniels and his wife Kim own a great little restaurant, The Silos, along the coast in North Carolina, and Rebekkah Hilgraves was in town helping a family member. She wandered in to the restaurant one night after a neighbor told her that there was a regular open mic night every Wednesday. They sat together, planned a couple of tunes and had a blast singing together the first time.

Rebekkah kept visiting, got inspired to write a couple of songs, and an idea was born — let’s turn this into a Real Thing, and record an album. Over the next several months, both saddened and inspired by life events, more songs came to life. They planned recording sessions in Asheville, at White Horse Black Mountain and RadHaus. Truth or Dare was the result, and the rest, as they say, is history.

They’ll bring back songs from the album, along with more new material they’re preparing for their next couple of albums!

Want to hear their work before you decide? Check out TRUTH OR DARE at https://blindphoenix.shop

Wine and Wolves! Donate to Full Moon Farm Wolf Sanctuary
Dec 6 all-day
online w/ Full Moon Farm

Full Moon Farm is an organization dedicated to the well being of the wolfdog (wolf hybrid). Situated on 17 beautiful mountain acres in Black Mountain, NC, we operate as a federally recognized 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization for abused and refused wolfdogs who find themselves in need of love, shelter, and care through no fault of their own.

Full Moon Farm provides a safe haven for animals that cannot be placed into homes for the rest of their lives.  Our rescued wolfdogs come from animal control agencies, closed breeding situations and occasionally, an owner in crisis.  We evaluate each animal upon intake and work with them at their level of comfort.

Some animals are “hands off” and we respect their choice, as well as that of the animals that crave human interaction.  Our goal is to enrich the lives of the residents, allowing them to reach their highest potential.  Your support by donation or sponsorship makes our task possible.

Though they may be abused or neglected, homeless because of death or divorce, they are all God’s Creatures and worthy of a lifetime of respect. We are here to serve them.

CAROLINA CELTIC -Celtic Christmas Celebration
Dec 6 @ 7:30 pm – 9:00 pm
White Horse Black Mountain

CAROLINA CELTIC - Dec 6: Celtic Christmas Celebration

The award-winning Celtic duo of harpist Sue Richards and guitarist Robin Bullock, in partnership with White Horse Black Mountain, are proud to present CAROLINA CELTIC, a monthly concert series in Black Mountain, North Carolina. Carolina Celtic showcases Irish and Scottish musical traditions and explores their commonality with the Appalachian ballads and stories of the Carolina mountains.

The concerts take place at White Horse Black Mountain (details and contact info below) the second Monday of every month at 7:30 pm ET. Every month Sue and Robin collaborate with a different guest artist, ensuring that no two Carolina Celtic concerts are the same. The inaugural season’s lineup of world-class musical guests is nothing short of extraordinary.

This edition is a special CELTIC CHRISTMAS CELEBRATION with RONN McFARLANE AND CAROLYN SURRICK, Grammy-nominated lutenist and viola da gambist from the Baltimore Consort and Ensemble Galilei.

Host duo Sue Richards and Robin Bullock, both proud transplants to the North Carolina mountains, blend the ancient and magical tones of the Celtic harp with the powerful resonance of the steel-string guitar, cittern and mandolin to create music that’s beautiful and timeless, yet fresh and current. Their individual achievements speak for themselves, with (among many other accomplishments) Sue Richards being a four-time National Scottish Harp Champion and Robin Bullock being ranked among the “100 Greatest Acoustic Guitarists” by DigitalDreamDoor.com and a longtime touring sideman with Lifetime Achievement Grammy Award winner Tom Paxton. The magic of their combined artistic excellence and mastery of Celtic traditions is captured on their brilliant 2018 duo CD Highland Ramble, and they eagerly look forward to the many collaborations to come as part of the Carolina Celtic series.
