The Adult Education program teaches reading, writing, spelling, and math to adults who read at or below a basic skills level. This program serves approximately 50 students per year. Students come to the Literacy Council because they want to improve job prospects, help their children in school, enroll in a High School Equivalency program, and better navigate the world around them.
Tutoring takes place for one hour twice each week at times and locations that are mutually convenient for students and their tutors.

The Fourth Annual Asheville Housing Fair gives current and potential homeowners the tools to fund, maintain and invest in housing and real estate opportunities.
The fair features lenders, advisors, builders, specialists and more to answer questions and showcase available resources that can help you achieve your housing goals.
Workshops facilitated by local businesses and nonprofits will cover topics such as
• First time homebuyers
• Renter’s rights
• Asheville homestays and
• Tips and tools to help make the most of your real estate investment.
This family-friendly event is free and open to the public and will include plenty of free parking, free hot dogs, a bounce house for kids, a 50/50 raffle and door prizes.

SAVE THE DATE for the first annual Give to the Music Wine & Jazz Fest at Asheville Outlets Sunday, September 23rd from 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., with a special VIP Hour from 12 noon to 1:00 p.m. The event, sponsored by iHeart Radio – Asheville and Ingles Markets, will feature a variety of wines from across the region.
Tickets are $25 in advance online and $30 at the gate. Ticket cost includes live music, wine sampling, food tastings, educational seminars, games and more! Asheville Outlets (www.shopashevilleoutlets.com) and Food Truck Festivals of America are excited to present the 2nd annual Asheville Food Truck & Craft Beer Festival Saturday, October 6th, from 12 noon to 5 p.m. (VIP hour 11 a.m. – 12 noon). While some of North Carolina’s most popular food trucks dish out fan favorites, craft ales and beers will be available for sale. There will also be music playing, lawn games to enjoy, and an artisan market where local artists will showcase their work.
Visitors will find the festival located next to Field & Stream. Tickets $5 in advance online and $10 day of. Children 12 and under are free. Food and Beer sold separately.
