Leadership Lecture Series: “Finding Your Purpose: From Baltimore, to Broadway’s Hamilton,” with Bryan Terrell Clark

Broadway actor and singer-songwriter Bryan Terrell Clark will present “Finding Your Purpose: From Baltimore, to Broadway’s Hamilton,” at 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 30 in the Mullen James Humanities Hall. 

Clark is known starring role as George Washington in “Hamilton: An American Musical” on Broadway and his numerous TV credits, including Fox’s “Empire.” With a mission to help as many young people as possible find their unique purpose in life, he draws on his experiences in the entertainment industry to inspire audiences to dream big, create a positive impact on others, and discover the best version of themselves.

Visitor Parking

Visitors may park in faculty/staff and All Permit lots from 5:00 p.m. until 7:30 a.m., Monday through Friday, and on weekends, holidays, and campus breaks. Visitors are not permitted to park in resident student lots at any time.
Prior to 5pm, any visitor (regardless of their reason for visit) need to adhere to the current practices listed on the parking website. Get your visitor parking permit here

The Henderson County Chamber of Commerce, Hatch Innovation Hub, Van Winkle Law Firm, BRCC Small Business Center, and Southern Appalachian Brewery have partnered to present this small business opportunity.
Pitch Parties are designed to offer entrepreneurs an opportunity to pitch ideas for a new business, expansions, and reorganization. Each participant will be allowed up to one minute to make a quick pitch, after which the participant will receive feedback from the audience.
Pitches will only be 1 minute in length
Following the pitch will be 2-3 open questions from the audience
The pitch should be either an idea for a business or can be a new idea for an existing business
You do not have to have a business to pitch
You just need to show up to pitch – no registration needed – kind of like open mic

Jamel Brinkley is the author of A Lucky Man, a finalist for the National Book Award, the Story Prize, the John Leonard Prize, the PEN/Robert W. Bingham Prize, and the Hurston/Wright Legacy Award, and winner of a PEN Oakland Award and the Ernest J. Gaines Award for Literary Excellence.

This is the fourth of five events in the 2022-23 Visiting Writers Series presented by the UNC Asheville English Department.

Charles Frazier Launches The Trackers in conversation with Wiley Cash

Charles Frazier Fans! Join us at UNC Asheville in Lipinsky Hall to celebrate the release of The Trackers on Monday, April 10 at 7:00 PM. Wiley Cash will join Charles Frazier in conversation. Barrett Smith from the Steep Canyon Rangers will join us to perform some Woody Guthrie/Depression era tunes; two songs to open and one to close us out! Malaprop’s is pleased to partner with UNCA to present this special event.

If you cannot attend this event, please do not purchase a ticket. You can still get a signed copy of The Trackers, by pre-ordering here.

When you purchase an event ticket, during checkout choose “Pickup Order” and “Frazier Event – UNCA Lipinsky Hall” as the location. We will have your signed book for you at the event. No tickets will be mailed. Ticket holders will be checked in by name at the door.
