The award-winning Celtic duo of harpist Sue Richards and guitarist Robin Bullock, in partnership with White Horse Black Mountain, are proud to present CAROLINA CELTIC, a monthly concert series in Black Mountain, North Carolina. Carolina Celtic showcases Irish and Scottish musical traditions and explores their commonality with the Appalachian ballads and stories of the Carolina mountains.
The concerts take place at White Horse Black Mountain (details and contact info below) the second Monday of every month at 7:30 pm ET. Every month Sue and Robin collaborate with a different guest artist, ensuring that no two Carolina Celtic concerts are the same. The inaugural season’s lineup of world-class musical guests is nothing short of extraordinary.
This edition is a special CELTIC CHRISTMAS CELEBRATION with RONN McFARLANE AND CAROLYN SURRICK, Grammy-nominated lutenist and viola da gambist from the Baltimore Consort and Ensemble Galilei.
Host duo Sue Richards and Robin Bullock, both proud transplants to the North Carolina mountains, blend the ancient and magical tones of the Celtic harp with the powerful resonance of the steel-string guitar, cittern and mandolin to create music that’s beautiful and timeless, yet fresh and current. Their individual achievements speak for themselves, with (among many other accomplishments) Sue Richards being a four-time National Scottish Harp Champion and Robin Bullock being ranked among the “100 Greatest Acoustic Guitarists” by DigitalDreamDoor.com and a longtime touring sideman with Lifetime Achievement Grammy Award winner Tom Paxton. The magic of their combined artistic excellence and mastery of Celtic traditions is captured on their brilliant 2018 duo CD Highland Ramble, and they eagerly look forward to the many collaborations to come as part of the Carolina Celtic series.

Holiday Season Volunteering

If you are interested in volunteering during the holidays, please contact us as early as possible (at least 6-8 weeks in advance). Due to increased call and email volumes at this time, please allow for 4-5 business days to receive a reply.
Hunger does exist year-round, and we often have a greater need for volunteers during January and February. If you have flexibility in your volunteering schedule, please consider volunteering after the holidays.

Full Moon Farm is an organization dedicated to the well being of the wolfdog (wolf hybrid). Situated on 17 beautiful mountain acres in Black Mountain, NC, we operate as a federally recognized 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization for abused and refused wolfdogs who find themselves in need of love, shelter, and care through no fault of their own.
Full Moon Farm provides a safe haven for animals that cannot be placed into homes for the rest of their lives. Our rescued wolfdogs come from animal control agencies, closed breeding situations and occasionally, an owner in crisis. We evaluate each animal upon intake and work with them at their level of comfort.
Some animals are “hands off” and we respect their choice, as well as that of the animals that crave human interaction. Our goal is to enrich the lives of the residents, allowing them to reach their highest potential. Your support by donation or sponsorship makes our task possible.
Though they may be abused or neglected, homeless because of death or divorce, they are all God’s Creatures and worthy of a lifetime of respect. We are here to serve them.
- Nancy Brown

Blue Ridge Community College is hosting a free Open House on Dec. 7 to give
the community a chance to learn more about its programs, ask questions,
meet faculty and staff, and even take a campus tour.
Now is the perfect time to get started on your career through Blue Ridge,
according to Blue Ridge recruiter Cearra Selbrade.
“Countless jobs are hiring right now, and they are looking for well-trained
professionals to fill these spots,” Selbrade said. “Our Open House gives
prospective students a chance to see what we have to offer, like our
horticulture, human services, or teacher prep programs.”
The Open House takes place in the College’s Sink Building on its Henderson
County campus. This event is open to everyone. If you are a high school
senior deciding what to do after graduation, or are someone looking to make a
career change, see what Blue Ridge programs can do for you.
Current high school students are encouraged to ask questions about Blue
Ridge’s Career and College Promise (CCP) program. Through CCP, students
can take college courses, and earn tuition-free college credits, all before
graduating high school.
The newest addition to Open House is the inclusion of campus tours, which will
allow visitors a sneak peek of campus.
“People want to see what our campus has to offer, what our classrooms are
like, and meet our faculty and staff, so a campus tour is the perfect thing for
them,” Selbrade added.
Open House attendees can join a tour group before it leaves from the Sink
Building. The tour guides will be taking tours throughout the event.
Whether you’d like to ask questions about FAFSA or courses, find out more
about CCP, or figure out your transfer options, Blue Ridge Open House has
something for you.
