MANNA’s Turkey Drive
Nov 30 @ 9:00 am – 12:00 pm
MANNA’s Volunteer Center

MANNA is continuing to serve more people than we were prior to the pandemic. For the enjoyment of the holiday season, it is important that those families are able to celebrate the holidays like everyone else. Since food is a centerpiece of every holiday, it is our hope that our community will come together to help fill as many plates of food over the holidays as we can throughout WNC.
MANNA hopes to collect hundreds of turkeys this year, and invites the community to join the effort by supporting the Turkey Drive. The community can give in two ways:
  • For your convenience, you can easily support our efforts to purchase additional holiday turkeys and hams through our virtual food drive option.
  • Donate a frozen turkey, ham, or other holiday table entrée to MANNA. Donations will be accepted at MANNA’s Volunteer Center (627 Swannanoa River Road, in East Asheville) Monday – Friday, between the hours of 9am–noon, and 1–3pm. (MANNA will be closed Thursday, November 23 and Friday, November 24 for the Thanksgiving holiday.)
On behalf of MANNA and all those we serve together, we wish you and yours a joyful and healthy Thanksgiving holiday!

Squirrel Nut Zippers Holiday Caravan
Nov 30 @ 8:00 pm
The Grey Eagle

The Squirrel Nut Zippers most recent album: Lost Songs of Doc Souchon debuted in late 2020. “This new album was inspired by all of the mysterious characters from the history of New Orleans jazz music,” commented band leader Jimbo Mathus. “It speaks to the hidden roots of where our aesthetic, interests and philosophy comes from. It pulls on the hidden thread.” The album will make its debut on vinyl later this year.

The Zippers began their musical journey in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, in the mid 1990’s, as a musician’s escape from the cookie cutter world of modern rock radio at the time. Jimbo Mathus along with drummer/percussionist Chris Phillips formed the band as a casual musical foray among friends and family in the area. It wasn’t long before the band’s quirky mix of jazz chords, folk music, and punk rock leanings spread out of the region and attracted a national audience.

Hunger does exist year-round, and we often have a greater need for volunteers during January and February. If you have flexibility in your volunteering schedule, please consider volunteering after the holidays.

Wine and Wolves! Donate to Full Moon Farm Wolf Sanctuary
Dec 1 all-day
online w/ Full Moon Farm

Full Moon Farm is an organization dedicated to the well being of the wolfdog (wolf hybrid). Situated on 17 beautiful mountain acres in Black Mountain, NC, we operate as a federally recognized 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization for abused and refused wolfdogs who find themselves in need of love, shelter, and care through no fault of their own.

Full Moon Farm provides a safe haven for animals that cannot be placed into homes for the rest of their lives.  Our rescued wolfdogs come from animal control agencies, closed breeding situations and occasionally, an owner in crisis.  We evaluate each animal upon intake and work with them at their level of comfort.

Some animals are “hands off” and we respect their choice, as well as that of the animals that crave human interaction.  Our goal is to enrich the lives of the residents, allowing them to reach their highest potential.  Your support by donation or sponsorship makes our task possible.

Though they may be abused or neglected, homeless because of death or divorce, they are all God’s Creatures and worthy of a lifetime of respect. We are here to serve them.

Gluten-Free Comedy, open mic at Ginger’s Revenge
Dec 2 @ 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm
Ginger's Revenge
Every Time I Die w/ ’68 + Candy
Dec 2 @ 7:30 pm
The Grey Eagle

EVERY TIME I DIE is a loud rock institution committed to leaving every nuanced outpouring of chaotic passion and blissful malcontent all over their records and on the stage. With boiling charisma and unrelenting energy to spare, the Buffalo band manages not one but two near-impossible tasks. They’ve survived two decades as an underground entity cherished for coloring outside the lines, and contrary to most career arcs, continually improving with each successive album as they charge ahead.

ETID makes a glorious hardcore-punk noise, alchemized by a swampy summoning of Southern rock’s coarse poetry. The music swirls beneath sardonic and clever wordplay, a combination cementing them as leaders, not followers. The band is recognized and revered for its anarchic explosiveness, artistic impulsiveness, and approachable camaraderie. It’s all interwoven with a visceral lack of the usual fucks. Revolver counted 2016’s Low Teens among the 25 Best Albums of the 2010s, and the follow-up, Radical, is no less revelatory. Once again produced by Will Putney (A Day To Remember, The Ghost Inside, Body Count), Radical is 16 tracks of peak-ETID, including raucous new anthems like “Post-Boredom,” “Planet Shit,” “A Colossal Wreck,” “Desperate Pleasures,” and “AWOL.”

The Jackson Grimm Band and Jane Kramer
Dec 2 @ 7:30 pm
Isis Music Hall--The Main Stage

The Jackson Grimm Band was born in the Swannanoa River Valley. They draw on the traditional sound of Appalachia to create dynamic and engaging original music. Jackson is a singer-songwriter based out of Asheville, NC. His musical arrangement invokes the traditional sound of the Southern Appalachian region, while his songs and lyrics pay homage to the new scene of folk music.

Jane Kramer is lauded by UK music reviewer Three Chords and the Truth as sounding as if she was “…born to gypsy poets and raised in the mountains by Emmylou Harris,” Asheville, North Carolina songstress and poet, Jane has garnered international recognition for the sultry, heartrending originality of her vocals and for the heavy-hitting lyrical eloquence of her songwriting. With deep roots in the musical traditions, culture and natural beauty of her beloved Appalachia, Kramer’s songs are introspective, gracefully gritty and fiercely memorable.

Come enjoy an evening of live music, food and drinks at the Isis Music Hall. Reservations are highly recommended.
