Asheville, NC-based BrassFunkRock band Empire Strikes Brass has a lot to say with a big sound. Their brand new 11/11/19 release is a 10-track album entitled “Brassterpiece Theatre” and it lives up to its name. Chock-full of serious groove from a thumping rhythm section highlighted by lush horn arrangements played by a thick horn section, this 2nd studio album is a funktacular dive into the band’s compositional roots as well as its’ creative and collaborative soul. There’s a lot of depth in these original tunes that speak volumes to ESB’s evolution.

White Claw Concerts: CJ Solar
May 30 @ 7:30 pm
Peace Center TD Stage

solar

Rolling Stone Country named CJ Solar one of their “New Artists You Need to Know,” so we just wanted to introduce you.

Heavily influenced by the music he grew up around, Solar fuses country, Southern rock, and Delta blues to create a sound that is uniquely him. His second EP Get Away With It featured Top 15 singles “Airplane” and “American Girls,” and their success led him to be named 2019 “Independent Artist of the Year” by MusicRow CountryBreakout Awards and nominated for “Breakthrough Artist-Writer” at the 2019 MusicRow Awards. On the road, he’s performed across the country and has had many dreams come true along the way, including a show at the Grand Ole Opry and opening for his heroes Lynyrd Skynyrd, 38 Special, and Hank Williams, Jr.

An extremely talented songwriter, CJ recently celebrated his second #1 country single as a writer with Jameson Rodgers’ debut “Some Girls.” His first #1 was Morgan Wallens’ “Up Down,” a smash hit featuring Florida Georgia Line that garnered CJ an ASCAP Award and the Nashville Songwriters Award for “10 Songs I Wish I’d Written.” Other co-writing credits include Jason Aldean’s, “I Don’t Drink Anymore,” Kyle Park’s “What the Heaven,” Jerrod Neimann’s “Blue Bandana” and “The Regulars,” and Justin Moore’s “Between You & Me.”

Get ready to rock and roll with CJ and his band as they kick off our White Claw Concerts on Sunday, May 30!

Mean Girls POSTPONED
May 30 @ 8:00 pm – 10:30 pm

show

Direct from Broadway, Mean Girls is the hilarious hit musical from an award-winning creative team, including book writer Tina Fey (30 Rock), composer Jeff Richmond (Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt), lyricist Nell Benjamin (Legally Blonde), and director Casey Nicholaw (The Book of Mormon).

Cady Heron may have grown up on an African savanna, but nothing prepared her for the vicious ways of her strange new home: suburban Illinois. Soon, this naïve newbie falls prey to a trio of lionized frenemies led by the charming but ruthless Regina George. But when Cady devises a plan to end Regina’s reign, she learns the hard way that you can’t cross a Queen Bee without getting stung.

New York Magazine cheers, “Mean Girls delivers with immense energy, a wicked sense of humor and joyful inside-jokery.” USA Today says, “We’ll let you in on a little secret, because we’re such good friends: GET YOUR TICKETS NOW!”

CHARLIE TRAVELER PRESENTS: Satsang
Jun 2 @ 9:00 pm – 11:45 pm
Asheville Music Hall

A Sanskrit word meaning “in the company of truth.”
It’s a beautiful moment when music from the heart and poetry from the soul truly connects with its intended audience. For Satsang lead singer and songwriter Drew McManus, that moment occurred on a 2018 tour through the Midwest, Northeast and Pacific Coast in which two-thirds of the band’s dates sold out. That’s when the truth hits home for McManus that his soulful, reggae-infused blend of folk-rock and melodic hip hop and its message of strength, growth and resilience is his testimony to the world – and the world is finally listening.
