Sessions are in many ways the heart and soul of Irish traditional music, a place for players to share tunes and socialize. It’s not a performance, but rather an informal situation in which listeners are welcome to participate, whether offering encouragement, singing along on a chorus, or asking questions about the music and instruments. White Horse sessions regularly draws players from as far away as Waynesville, Cullowhee, Rutherfordton and even Clayton, Georgia.

The sessions are hosted by Richard and Melinda Halford. Drop by for a beer or a cup of tea and get uplifted by some great traditional tunes and a few new songs.

Come join us in a long musical tradition spanning hundreds of years.

TROUBLE NO MORE celebrates the music of the ALLMAN BROTHERS BAND. The group debuted on Friday, March 25, with two SOLD-OUT SHOWS at NYC’s Beacon Theatre, a venue the esteemed ABB played nearly 250 times. Their upcoming tour will be honoring the 50th anniversary of the “Eat A Peach,” record which was released February 12, 1972, and has been distinguished as one of the greatest albums of all time.

Trouble No More includes Brandon “Taz” Niederaurer (Guitar, Vocals), Daniel Donato (Guitar, Vocals), Dylan Niederauer (Bass Guitar), Jack Ryan (Drums), Lamar Williams Jr. (Vocals), Nikki Glaspie (Drums), Peter Levin (Keys) and Roosevelt Collier (Pedal Steel Guitar).

When the street urchin, Aladdin, vies for the attention of the beautiful princess, Jasmine, he uses a genie’s magic power to become a prince in order to marry her. Iago, Jafar, the Genie, and more are here in Disney’s Aladdin KIDS, a musical adventure filled with magic, mayhem and the power of love.

Camp features: acting classes, movement and choreography, juggling and magic tricks, miming and more!

We are shamelessly drumming up attention for our exciting new program at Lake Julian Park. Starting Thursday, March 31, Buncombe County Recreation Services is hosting a drum circle on the last Thursday of every month from 5:30-7:30 p.m. The only thing you need to bring is yourself and a drum, and then just let the rhythm and beautiful scenery do the work as you enjoy the beat and comradery of fellow percussionists.

Brit Floyd, “The World’s Greatest Pink Floyd Show,” returns to the stage in 2022 to perform its brand-new production of what is widely regarded as the world’s greatest rock tribute show. Relive highlights from The Wall, The Dark Side of the Moon, Wish You Were Here, Animals and The Division Bell, before experiencing a show stopping 23-minute ‘note-for-note’ performance of the iconic era-defining song “Echoes” from Pink Floyd’s breakthrough album Meddle.

Having performed over 1,000 shows since its 2011 launch in Liverpool, England, Brit Floyd has circled the world, selling out tours across Europe, North America, South America, and the Middle East. Along the way, they’ve performed in some of the world’s greatest venues, including London’s prestigious Royal Albert Hall, the awe-inspiring Red Rocks Amphitheatre, the historic Greek Theatre, and NYC’s Radio City Music Hall.

Faithfully recreating the scale and pomp of the final 1994 Pink Floyd tour, this performance is complete with a stunning light show, iconic circle screen, lasers, inflatables, and theatrics.

Mr. Garfield gets students moving and playing in the stylings of Second Line music, a rhythm famously used in New Orleans. The Asheville Drum Circle is a free event that’s open to all.

Jesse James DeConto grew up in New England, with Dad’s guitar and Mom’s radio tuned to Soulsville, the Village, Liverpool and Laurel Canyon. Those inheritances mingle with foothills-folk in Durham, N.C., yielding songs Americana UK calls “anthemic.” Critics hear influences from Neil Young to The National. “You won’t be able to stop humming,” said No Depression.

The Pinkerton Raid has played with Illiterate Light, Ballroom Thieves, Lowland Hum and Noah Gundersen. Back-to-back releases in 2017 & 2018 brought them from Charleston to Chicago to Brattleboro, Vt., with slots at EnoFest, Shakori Hills and Daytrotter and acclaim from Paste, Popdose, Aquarian Weekly and more.

In 2020-2021, the band has been releasing a series of indie-rock singles. American Songwriter called “Dream the Sun” a “radiant … message of hope.” Glide Magazine said “Rebel Mama Blues” “purrs with the garage rock swagger of The White Stripes and the irritated kick of Cage the Elephant,” while The Big Takover called it “a blast of zeitgeist-capturing political garage-psych … Bowie-meets-Black Keys.” “Lisbet Cries” is “poignant,” according to Rolling Stone. Indyweek called “(Not All) The Boys Will Be Boys” a “bluesy, slow-burning rallying cry for a better version of masculinity.”

Their fifth full-length album is due out in 2022.

Music on Main is the annual Friday evening summer concert series at the Hendersonville Visitor Center. Each week, bring a chair, sit back and enjoy free live music! Every concert showcases a different band performing diverse line-up ranging from pop, oldies, rock, to contemporary music. The family-friendly event offers concessions such as hot dogs, ice cream, pretzels and lemonade for sale. Every Friday evening, the Carolina Mountain Car Club hosts a classic car show in conjunction with Music on Main. The car shows are located in front of the Wells Fargo between Barnwell and Caswell Streets, which will be closed to traffic.

Performing songwriter and singer R. Daniel Johnston returns to Flood Gallery to weave tales of love and heartbreak around murder ballads and story songs. Johnston leaves the listener moved by the poetic simplicity of his lyrics built upon strong and direct voicings on acoustic guitar. Self-styled as Country-Cana, a refined blend of Old School Country and today’s Americana, Johnston’s songs deliver on both counts.

Johnston, former owner of the legendary Town Pump Tavern in Black Mountain, NC, began writing in the early 2000’s inspired by the original songwriters he hired to play there such as Malcolm Holcombe, Billy Joe Shaver, Michael Reno Harrell and Larry Cordle.

Johnston’s songs have been recorded by former Buddy Guy guitarist Frank Bang and have received national and international airplay on traditional radio, online, and satellite radio, including “The Blues Don’t Care” which debuted #1 on Sirius/XM’s Bluesville’s Rack Of Blues in 2016.

Johnston’s new recording “My Own Country Way” features an impressive array of players contributing their talents to the project, including Artimus Pyle [Lynyrd Skynyrd], Nicky Sanders {The Steep Canyon Rangers}, Frank “Bang” Blinkal [Buddy Guy], Claude Coleman [Ween], and Tom Pittman [Austin Lounge Lizards}.

R. Daniel Johnston has played many top venues in the area and is comfortable in any setting, indoors or out, solo or with a band, bar or performance hall, and always delivers a straightforward and heartfelt performance of the true to life songs he has written.
