Two of the greatest bands of all time face off in a high-energy, adrenaline-pumping musical showdown. The Fab Four, represented by tribute band Abbey Road will engage in a barrage of hits against premier Rolling Stones tribute band Satisfaction. It’s a face-off you won’t want to miss!
Asheville’s biggest culinary event celebrates 10 years of bold flavors and palate pleasers.
The Asheville Independent Restaurant Association (AIR) hosts the 2018 Taste of
Asheville: Taste & Tunes Thursday, Nov. 15 at The Venue in downtown Asheville.
From award-winning southern cuisine to bold new worldly flavors, the Taste of Asheville
brings over 40 of Asheville’s famed independent restaurants together for an
unforgettable evening of sampling small bites, craft beverages and spirits.
This year, AIR has once again teamed up with the Asheville Buskers Collective to
highlight the city’s celebrated street musicians.
This event not only entertains the taste buds, it also is one of the largest fundraisers of
the year to support the work of the AIR, which in turn supports the 120 members of the
Asheville Independent Restaurant Association.
VIP tickets (early admission) are $100; general admission tickets are $75. All tickets may be purchased at www.airasheville.org.
On November 16th 2018, MusicWorks Asheville will present our Fall Concert featuring the MusicWorks Chorus, String Orchestra and Band. Music will begin at 5:45pm and families are welcome. Admission is free. Donations will be accepted at the end of the concert so bring your checkbook or just the change in your pocket if you want to help support these amazing students.
The Marshall Handmade Market is held in the Marshall High Studios, a charming 1920’s high school nestled on an island in the French Broad River, 25 minutes north of Asheville. The sunny auditorium is filled with some of the most talented makers in Western North Carolina, and the resident artists of Marshall High spruce up the classrooms-turned-studios and open their doors to share their process and art with visitors.
You’ll find painters, potters, weavers, blacksmiths and leather workers, to name a few, along with delectable treats from one of Asheville’s favorite food trucks and OWL Bakery. Enjoy a delightful day of handcrafted holiday shopping, a stroll around the island, and a wander through historic downtown Marshall, NC.

The Calidore String Quartet’s “deep reserves of virtuosity and irrepressible dramatic instinct” (New York Times) and “balance of intellect and expression” (Los Angeles Times) has won them accolades across the globe and firmly established them as one of the finest chamber music ensembles performing today. The Quartet made international headlines as the winner of the $100,000 Grand-Prize of the 2016 and inaugural M-Prize International Chamber Music Competition, the largest prize for chamber music in the world.

White Horse Black Mountain Features Jazz Vocalist Maddy Winer
Maddy Winer and celebrated jazz guitarist Vince Lewis reunite at the White Horse Black Mountain, On December 5, 2018 at 7:00PM. Maddy and Vince will pay tribute to the artists whose popular songs shaped Americas musical identity – Great American Songbook favorites spanning the era of George Gershwin to Bill Joel. Of course, timeless popular Christmas songs will also be featured. Special guest artists: Bill Stowe on drums and Bill Fouty on upright Bass. “Maddy Winer has great musical instincts, a wonderful sound and best of all she knows how to read a lyric,” says legendary jazz guitarist Mundell Lowe. “I love the way Maddy and Vince work together on this CD; I feel as if musically they were thinking as one.”
Recording artist Maddy Winer is known for her effortless interpretation and jazz styling of the Great American Songbook. Maddy has headlined concerts throughout the U.S. and Canada including New York’s prestigious Lincoln Center. She is also a featured performer on the popular PBS special “Loonis McGlohon & Friends.” Maddy has appeared with countless jazz legends including Dave Brubeck, David Sanborn, Cyrus Chestnut, Joe Sample, George Shearing, Ellis Marsalis and Al Jarreau.
Her latest CD CROSSROADS features Maddy with legendary jazz guitarist Vince Lewis. The free-flowing musical interaction translates into the energy and excitement of a live performance, as opposed to just another recording session.
“Crossroads takes the listener on a musical journey of timeless standards representing the heart and soul of the Great American Songbook,” says Maddy. “I have always had a passion for the works of Antonio Carlos Jobim and included two of his classics that I love to sing. This symphonic winds concert will include family- friendly pieces that are staples of the holidays, such as Sleigh Ride and A Christmas Festival by Leroy Anderson, Most Wonderful Time of the Year, Up On A Housetop, and Chanukah Celebration. We will have a sing-along segment. And to top it off, we will have a handbell choir playing with the band! You read that right – Jubilee Handbells from First Methodist Church of Hendersonville will play during our concert as well! You won’t want to miss this! Such great “sound candy” for your ears! Our concert will be performed on the campus of UNCA at Lipinsky Hall on Sunday, December 16 at 3:30 PM.

Sierra Hull is a singer, mandolinist and former child prodigy who signed with Rounder at age 13 and distinguished herself by becoming the first bluegrass musician to receive a Presidential Scholarship to the prestigious Berklee College of Music. Though she is best known for her work as a mandolin player, Hull is also respected as a composer and lyricist, having worked closely with 15-time Grammy Award-Winner, Bela Fleck. And now, Sierra invites everyone to enjoy the musical sounds of a Bluegrass Christmas celebration.
