TRIATHALON
Sometimes lo-fi rock, sometimes r&b, always smooth. Savannah, GA formed trio TRIATHALON gear up to tour this fall and soothe speakers in a city near you.
CURRENT BLUE
Hailing from Charleston, South Carolina, Current Blue is an indie pop group, and has been working on music since 2014. The band features STEPHAN on guitar/vocals and Yuki Tillis on drums/lead guitar. The band blends indie, surf and R&B into a unique and distinguishable sound.
LEAF SUMMER CAMPS
IN FULL SWING!LEAF Schools & Streets invites your students to join us at LEAF Global Arts for summer camp. We are offering multiple camps which will run 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at LEAF Global Arts at 19 Eagle Street in Downtown Asheville.
Scholarships are available! Qualifications include:
- Students who qualify for free or reduced lunch
- Two of more siblings attending the same week of camp
- Students registering for 4+ LEAF Summer Camps in 2023 (must pay in full)

Snacks will be provided, and students should bring a peanut free bagged lunch and a water bottle to camp each day, and wear clothes and shoes they can move in.
In addition to the main focus of the camp, each week will explore elements of theater art, music, and dance from around the world.
Cost: $230 per week. Extended Day: $60 per week.

Day camp is one of the joys of summer — a chance to learn new skills while making new friends in a fun and supportive atmosphere. LEAF Global Arts Summer Camp registration is live on our website. The week-long camps take place Monday-Friday, June 12-Aug. 25.
This summer, students will dive into music, art, theatre, and dance from around the world and in our community. Camp themes include celebrating diversity, songs for peace, black history, hip-hop culture, West African drumming, and more. Each camp will culminate in a Friday performance for friends and families, in addition to original recordings made in our ONEmic studio! LEAF’s ONEmic studio is funded by the Bed Gradison Memorial Fund and generous support of LEAF members

Clay Johnson & the Hard Promises, From Spartanburg, SC, were formed in the midst of 2020 as the backing band for solo musician Clay Johnson. The beats of the Friday Night Drum Circle have been rocking Pritchard Park for decades and the circle has become so popular that it is featured in magazines and TV commercials.

Dan’s a charmingly weird dude his comedy is described as “so smart it’s stupid” and “it’s a party every time he steps on stage.” His credits include Big Sky/Laughing Skull/Boston Comedy and Asheville Comedy festivals, featured comedian on Fox networks, Weather Gone Viral on The Weather Channel, Abercrombie & Fitch, and featuring in the film American Dirtbag.

YouTube sensations, Dude Perfect — Tyler Toney, Cody Jones, Garrett Hilbert and twins Coby and Cory Cotton — will bring their engaging and action-packed show to 24 cities next summer after several sold-out events on their 2022 tour, which has been recently nominated for Pollstar Family Event Tour of the Year.
Demand for the family-friendly brand continues to grow, with Dude Perfect joining Amazon’s Thursday Night Football broadcast and the announcement of a new Dude Perfect fan destination and headquarters. In the 2023 iteration of their tour, the Dudes will bring their laugh-out-loud antics to the stage and compete in crazy, trick-shot themed battles. The tour will feature some of the most popular segments from their award-winning “Overtime” series like Cool Not Cool and Wheel Unfortunate with Ned Forrester, and new fan-favorite segments like Get Crafty and Top 10 are in the works as well.

The Weaverville Music Study Club is now organized under the direction of a Board with a niece of the late Mrs. Clark, Harriet Holcombe Burnette serving as President. The Music Study Club along with area businesses and organizations sponsor music programs throughout the year. Offerings received at these programs provide scholarships for area high school students who wish to pursue music studies.

A Summer Solstice Special Event!

It is Midsummer night in the magical court of Titania, Queen of the Fairies, and her motley bunch of forest fey are busy preparing for the night’s festivities. Oberon, her wayward consort, is late again, but when he arrives this time he’s not alone! A young human woman has followed him into the fairy realm, and now she can’t get home. Led by the mischievous Puck and a very dusty ghost of Shakespeare, the goofy forest denizens hilariously hatch a plan to get the lost girl back where she belongs. Mixed up Shakespearean shenanigans and Midsummer magic collide in this delightful musical celebration of summer!

At a reading such as this, the actors will be standing on stage or seated in chairs and will have their scripts in front of them on music stands. There will be minimal set, blocking, props, and costumes. Scene descriptions and stage directions will be read aloud to set the stage for the audience. The Swingin’ Medallions are a beach band based out of Greenwood, South Carol, whose musical roots came from listening to the early rhythm and blues acts. After a few years of touring colleges from the Carolinas to the Louisiana Bayou, John McElrath, one of the bands co-founders, took the group to a studio to record “Double Shot (of My Baby’s Love)”. The song has sold millions of copies and become a party classic for decades. “She Drives Me Out Of My Mind” and “Hey, Hey, Baby” were top 40 hits in the ’60s but “Double Shot” remains the band’s signature song.
The members of the Swingin’ Medallions have changed over the part thirty years, but it has always included eight members with at least a four piece horn section. The high-energy party style stage performance of the first Medallions has been passed down to the band that performs today.

Please join us for MoonieFest! There will be Live Music & a Karaoke Contest by Thunderstruck Entertainment. Live music includes Misdemeanor, Jeremy Whiteside and Joe Roads. Join us for our summer music series “History of WNC/Appalachian Music.” We’ll be featuring musicians and special guests to take you on musical trips around Western North Carolina with a splash of history mixed in! Join us for an hour of music along with 30 minutes of historical tidbits, photos, and fun facts from archivists and librarians during set breaks.
The Asheville Dulcimer Orchestra will be playing a range of Southern Appalachian to classical music and is led by Mack Johnston. What is a Dulcimer? Due in large part to its popularity during the folk music revival, the mountain dulcimer, also called lap dulcimer, is one of the instruments most readily associated with Southern Appalachia. Millions were introduced to the instrument’s gentle sound by Jean Ritchie and Frank Proffitt of Watauga County, North Carolina. The mountain dulcimer is usually played across one’s lap, noting or chording with the left hand and strumming the three or four strings with the right.
To hear what it sounds like and see what it looks like, join us for this free program! The program takes place in our library community room at Enka and is in partnership with Buncombe County Special Collections.
