The 5th annual Asheville Jewish Community Center Hanukkah 8K will take place VIRTUALLY on Sunday, December 12, 2020.
The JCC Hanukkah 8K is a community-wide celebration of the 8-day Jewish holiday of Hanukkah, also known as the Festival of Lights. Proceeds of the JCC Hanukkah 8K will benefit Shalom Children’s Center’s scholarship fund.
Participating in the virtual Hanukkah 8K will help you stay connected to other runners in Asheville, motivate you to stay healthy and active during the winter months, allow you to choose your own course and start time, and still participate in a competitive race complete with prizes for winners! Participants in the Asheville JCC’s Virtual Hanukkah 8K will run an 8-K course of their choosing on Sunday, December 12. They will log their time via a log button on the JCC website, and submit photographic proof of running. Winners will be announced on Monday, December 13, when all times have been received. Prizes will be mailed to winners following the race.
For more information about the Hanukkah 8K, email [email protected].

Join in the fun and spread a little joy this holiday season! Asheville Parks & Recreation is hosting its first ever Jingle All The Way 5K Walk/Run on Dec. 12 at Carrier Park. Registration is FREE with the donation of a new $10 unwrapped toy. All toys received will be distributed to children in our community who need a little extra cheer this holiday season. Staggered start times beginning at 9 a.m. and a limited number of participants promise to keep it safe for everyone. The first 25 to register will receive a free T-shirt and hot chocolate and more will make the event merry! You might even see Santa!
It’s a 5K, it’s a toy drive, and it’s a great addition to your holiday season! What’s not to love? Register online at www.avlrec.com by Dec. 10. For more information, visit the website at www.ashevillenc.gov/parks, on Facebook at www.facebook.com/APRCA or call Maria Young at 828-251-4026.

Venture Asheville grows Asheville’s startup community and connects high-growth entrepreneurs to talent, mentors and investors through unique programming and events. The Venture 15 and Venture Asheville Honors is our annual end-of-year party where we announce and rank the 15 fastest growing startups in the area and award Entrepreneur, Mentor, Investor, Resource of the Year, The Shining Rock Award and the Venture Asheville Vanguard Award. New award this year – Best Startup to Work For.
While last year’s Venture 15 lives on in our memories, we obviously can’t have VIP receptions, dance parties, or a bar tab this year, so we are going virtual, but it will be anything but boring. With Jeff Kaplan as the emcee for the evening you can expect to hear from our sponsors, winners and finalists all wrapped up in one creative program, along with a few surprises. Buy your tickets, make some popcorn, grab your drink of choice and join us from the comfort of your couch for an exciting, fast-paced evening of awards.
Venture 15 Awards recognize the 15 fastest growing Asheville-area startups. This event celebrates the area’s outstanding entrepreneurs, and it serves as an elite setting where they can share their talent and wisdom as well as offer inspiration to other fledgling companies to be part of this exclusive group.
