The Montford Park Players announces open auditions for the family show “The Sword in the Stone,” by Shaan Sharma, to be directed by Kristi DeVille. Rehearsal will begin in late May, and the show will run Friday, July 30 to Saturday, August 28.
The director is seeking actors, dancers, and singers ages 13 and up, all experience levels, ethnic backgrounds, and gender identities.
Individuals/families/couples/friends who are quarantining together are encouraged to audition.
Prospective actors and technicians should review the COVID-19 protocols which can be found at https://www.montfordparkplayers.org/…/MPP-ACTOR-SAFETY…. Actors and technicians recruited for this production will be required to abide by all safety protocols as contained in the document.
In addition, the following director-mandated safety protocols will be included for this production:
– Masks will be used sometimes onstage in character. Mask use will be blocked and choreographed in a way that makes sense within the world of the play and keeps the performers as safe as possible
– Actor call time will be staggered for performances and rehearsals.

Our mission at the REAL Academy is to equip social workers with the tools and confidence to make good decisions in child welfare cases. We have seen the benefits of simulation training for social workers and the best way to provide that is using skilled actors to play realistic roles that challenge students before they practice in the community. This is a great opportunity for theatre students and professional actors alike because they will be paid for their work and also contribute to communities across North Carolina.

Auditions for Macbeth/Pericles

The Montford Park Players announces open auditions for two shows that will be performed in repertory, Shakespeare’s Macbeth and Pericles, both to be directed by Jason Williams. Rehearsals will begin in July, and the shows will run from Friday, September 3rd through to Saturday, October 9th.
All parts are open to any actor 18 and up, all experience levels, ethnic backgrounds, and gender identities. Individuals/families/couples/friends who are quarantining together are encouraged to audition. The same cast will perform both plays on alternating nights.

Smoky Park Supper Club + Magnetic Theatre Outdoor Show

Smoky Park Supper Club

Join us Tuesday nights, beginning April 13th, as The Magnetic Theatre teams up with the wizards at Smoky Park Supper Club to host a live, outdoor variety show. We’ll be filling Smoky Park’s gorgeous, riverside outdoor space with comedy, theatre, music and so much more.

There will be food and beverages available for purchase.

  • This is a BYOC (Bring-Your-Own-Chair) event.
  • In accordance with safety guidelines this show will be staged outdoors, with mask and social distancing protocols enforced. There will also be temperature checks and COVID waivers that need to be signed by each attendee at the gate.
  • Please arrive at least 15 minutes before the 7pm showtime.
  • We do require that masks be worn at all times unless you are actively eating or drinking.

Smoky Park Supper Club + Magnetic Theatre Outdoor Show

Join us Tuesday nights, beginning April 13th, as The Magnetic Theatre teams up with the wizards at Smoky Park Supper Club to host a live, outdoor variety show. We’ll be filling Smoky Park’s gorgeous, riverside outdoor space with comedy, theatre, music and so much more.

There will be food and beverages available for purchase.

  • This is a BYOC (Bring-Your-Own-Chair) event.
  • In accordance with safety guidelines this show will be staged outdoors, with mask and social distancing protocols enforced. There will also be temperature checks and COVID waivers that need to be signed by each attendee at the gate.
  • Please arrive at least 15 minutes before the 7pm showtime.

Homeward Bound has been using the housing first model since 2006 to move people out of homelessness. Since then, Homeward Bound has housed over 2,230 individuals with an 89% retention rate.

Do you see people who are homeless in our community? Do you really understand their challenges? COVID-19 has had a devastating impact, possibly increasing homelessness by as much as 40% and making it more critical than ever for us to see, hear, and respond to this growing crisis.

Learn about Homeward Bound’s efforts to end this crisis during our FREE virtual Event to End Homelessness on May 12th at noon. The program will include updates from Executive Director Meredith Switzer, a film by Emmy award-winning filmmaker Katie Damien, a performance by spoken word poet Nonnie Egbuna, a song by local artist and Jubilee! World Beat Band member Paula Hanke, and more.
