Buncombe County Health and Human Services will partner with Buncombe County Schools to host school-based vaccination clinics. All vaccines will be available and are free. Please check www.buncombeready.org for confirmation of these events as the weather forecast in the coming weeks may necessitate rescheduling clinics.  This Saturday, the vaccination clinic will be located at TC Roberson High School on February 5, 2022 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. The Vaccination Clinic at 40 Coxe Avenue is in operation Tuesday – Friday from 9 am – 4 pm. ASAP (Appalachian Sustainable Agriculture Project) will present a CSA Fair on Feb. 10 at the Hendersonville Community Co-op. The event is free, family-friendly, and open to the public.

CSA Fairs are a chance to meet local farmers and learn about CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) in your area. By joining a CSA, you get a weekly box of fresh, locally grown produce, meats, flowers, or other local products—and provide a local farmer with valuable financial support before the season starts. Talk to farmers about what products they offer, pickup locations, growing practices, and payment options.

In this talk, happening in person at 7 p.m. in Lipinsky Auditorium, world-renowned neuroscientist and psychologist Richard Davidson will draw from scientific evidence that suggests that we can change our brains by cultivating certain habits of mind. By transforming the mind, these mental training strategies can improve the well-being of children and parents, students and teachers, citizens and communities.

On Friday, 2/11 at 9 AM, Davidson will host an additional Master Class in the Highsmith Student Union, Blue Ridge Room. He will discuss how scientific investigation into the practices of meditation and mindfulness enhances our potential for well-being.

Davidson’s visit to UNC Asheville is supported by the Howerton Distinguished Professorship, the NEH Distinguished Professorship, and is part of the University’s Cultural Events Series.
