For the first time, Grammy-nominated singer, songwriter and guitarist Tab Benoit joins forces with blues maven Samantha Fish to bring you a co-headline tour built on their distinctive and powerful brand of Americana roots and blues. Fans can count on a full set from both Tab and Samantha, two artists who make it a mission to give all they have on stage and leave nothing behind!
With a remarkable 30-plus year career built on the foundation of his gritty and soulful Delta swamp blues, Tab Benoit has acquired a devoted legion of fans and accolades along the way. Winner of 5 Blues Music Awards, including BB King Entertainer of the Year (twice!), the Louisiana Music Hall of Fame inductee has recorded and/or performed with Junior Wells, Willie Nelson, James Cotton, and more!
Quickly ascending from one of the most promising young blues artists on the scene to a stage-savvy, multi-talented performer and songwriter, Samantha Fish expertly combines elements of rock, funk, raw country blues and everything in between to produce unique sounds. Having collaborated with songwriters who have worked with Luke Bryan, Keith Urban, Kelly Clarkson and more, her latest album Kill or Be Kind offers a range of distinct songs packaged in a coherent, entirely satisfying sentence.

Throughout the month of March, kids can vote for the NC Children’s Book Award by visiting any Buncombe County Public Library location. The North Carolina Children’s Book Award is a children’s choice program sponsored by school and public librarians in North Carolina. The awards are designed to introduce kids to books and to instill a lifelong love of reading.
The Library has partnered with the Board of Elections to provide official voting booths for kids to vote.
Kids can vote in person at any of these libraries between March 2 and March 31:
- Enka-Candler
- Fairview
- North Asheville
- Pack Memorial
- South Buncombe
- Swannanoa
- Weaverville
- West Asheville
Kids can also vote “absentee” by asking for a ballot at any library, or they can drop their completed ballot in our book drop before the end of March to “mail in” their vote.
You are eligible to vote if 1) You’re a kid and 2) You’ve read or listened to at least 5 of the picture book nominees and/or 3) You’ve read or listened to at least 3 of the junior book nominees. Kids may vote for each category if they have read or listened to the required number of titles.

Richard doesn’t have a past. For him, there is only the present: a new marriage to Tamara, a first chance at fatherhood to her son Elijah, and a quiet but pleasant life as an art teacher at Elijah’s elementary school in Danvers, Virginia. Then the body of a rabbit, ritualistically murdered, appears on the school grounds with a birthday card for Richard tucked beneath it. Richard doesn’t have a birthday—but Sean does…
Sean is a five-year-old boy who has just moved to Greenfield, Virginia, with his mother. Like most mothers of the 1980s, she’s worried about bills, childcare, putting food on the table…and an encroaching threat to American life that can take the face of anyone: a politician, a friendly neighbor, or even a teacher. When Sean’s school sends a letter to the parents revealing that Sean’s favorite teacher is under investigation, a white lie from Sean lights a fire that engulfs the entire nation—and Sean and his mother are left holding the match.
Now, thirty years later, someone is here to remind Richard that they remember what Sean did. And though Sean doesn’t exist anymore, someone needs to pay the price for his lies.

Gunslinging Parrots – (A Phish Experience) is a Phish tribute band that focuses on the band’s early content (1.0). Formed in the summer of 2020 during the pandemic lockdown, the band has since been playing weekly shows and has developed a large repertoire of the music. They focus on sounding like Phish and not just playing their music. With Natalie Allen on guitar and lead vocals sounding astonishingly like Trey Anastasio in all ways, Benjamin Falcon on drums and vocals, Daniel Combs on keyboards and vocals, and Ryan Crabtree on bass guitar, this quartet will take you to a place you may be missing or have yet to experience – a Phish concert! Two full sets of classics and improvisation in the style of the quintessential jam band. Social distancing and mask-wearing is in effect at this great outdoor venue to see live music, something we all need more of in our lives. Please feel free to dance with your group in your table area. 
The Sons of Ralph are the sons of Bluegrass pioneer Ralph Lewis. In the heart of WNC, these masters of Bluegrass are “The Sons of Ralph”. Martin and Don Lewis, Cousin Steve Moseley, and the “other brother” Ozzie Orengo, Jr. have been playing and singing the unique style of bluegrass music since Ralph’s upbringing in Madison County.
Cosmic Charlie was born in the musical Mecca of Athens, Georgia. From its summer 1999 inception, the band swiftly cemented its reputation as a band that puts a unique and personal twist on the Grateful Dead catalogue, a Dead cover band for folks that are ambivalent about Dead cover bands. Rather than mimicking the Dead exactly, Cosmic Charlie chooses to tap into the Dead’s energy and style as a foundation on which to build. The result is healthy balance of creativity and tradition, and both the band and its audience are taken to that familiar edge with the sense that, music is actually being MADE here tonight.
“Love Bubble” is the name of the freshest harmony-driven trio in WNC! Made up of 3 of our areas finest and most sought after singers, you’re in for a nostalgic, heartwarming and whimsical time. For this show, they’re adding Beatles songs to their already eclectic mix of originals and 1940’s-1980’s cover songs. Crooner extraordinaire, Hank Bones (3 Cool Cats, The Jon Henry’s), who is affectionately known as “the man of 1000 songs” is also a master on guitar, arranging and songwriting. Best in Blues ‘Chanteuse’ Peggy Ratusz (Daddy LongLegs Band, Love is a Rose, Bygone Blues) on harmonica and percussion and scintillating vocalist, Paula Hanke (The Perfect Mix, In-the-Pocket, Love is a Rose) on uke and flute, these 3 create a quintessential musical ménage e trois!

We’re pleased to partner with the Western Carolina University Spring Literary Festival to present a panel discussion on representation in fiction. Join us to hear from authors Annette Saunooke Clapsaddle, Chantel Acevedo, and Ashleigh Bryant Phillips. They will be joined by editors from two non-profit presses, Meg Reid from Hub City Press and Robin Muira from Blair.

Annette Saunooke Clapsaddle, an enrolled member of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians (EBCI), resides in Qualla, NC. She holds degrees from Yale University and the College of William and Mary. Her debut novel, Even As We Breathe (The University Press of Kentucky) was released in 2020. Her first novel manuscript, Going to Water is winner of The Morning Star Award for Creative Writing from the Native American Literature Symposium (2012), a finalist for the PEN/Bellwether Prize for Socially Engaged Fiction (2014). After serving as Executive Director of the Cherokee Preservation Foundation, Annette (National Board Certified since 2012) returned to teaching English and Cherokee Studies at Swain County High School. She is the former co-editor of the Journal of Cherokee Studies and serves on the Board of Trustees for the North Carolina Writers Network.
Called “a master storyteller” by Kirkus Reviews, Chantel Acevedo is the author of the novels Love and Ghost Letters, A Falling Star, The Distant Marvels, which was a finalist for the 2016 Andrew Carnegie Medal for Excellence in Fiction, and , The Living Infinite, hailed by Booklist as a “vivid and enthralling tale of love and redemption.” MUSE SQUAD: THE CASSANDRA CURSE, Acevedo’s new middle grade duology (called “Riveting and suspenseful” by School Library Journal) was published by Balzer + Bray in 2020. The sequel, MUSE SQUAD: THE MYSTERY OF THE TENTH, will be published in July of 2021. She is Professor of English at the University of Miami, where she directs the MFA program.
Ashleigh Bryant Phillips is from Woodland, North Carolina. Her debut collection, Sleepovers, won the C. Michael Curtis Short Story Book Prize selected by Lauren Groff. Her stories have appeared in The Paris Review, The Oxford American, and elsewhere.
It’s no lie, Wink & a Promise is bringing their Western Swing & Honky Tonk sound to One World Brewing West, Saturday, April, 10 from 6-9 PM. Specializing in country music from the 40s- 50s, they expand their sound to original songwriting as well as psychedelic and outlaw country.
Singing guitar solos and arranged vocal harmonies round out the driving acoustic rhythm section to meet the perfect blend of electric and acoustic sounds.

Virginia-born singer-songwriter Alexa Rose creates her own style of modern folk. Her distinctive vocal sound has bits of Joni Mitchell, Lucinda Williams, and Gilliam Welch. Her earnest, well-crafted songs explore timeless topics. It is American roots music that blends some of the mountains with modern country and a little rock and roll.

Sicard Hollow is a four-piece progressive bluegrass band who formed with a mutual passion for pushing the boundaries of genre. Heavily influenced by the Grateful Dead and New Grass Revival, these young pickers bring new energy to a timeless style with a combination of fearless improvisation and instrumental prowess.
Having toured extensively around the southeast for the last year, this group of players continues to grow their sound with every performance. Having always thought of themselves as a live band, producer, Dan Davis, had his work cut out for him while producing their debut album, Secret of the Breeze, at Zac Brown and Oliver Wood’s Southern Ground Nashville. The result was a perfect encapsulation of the band’s genre-kicking tenacity. There is no slowing down for Sicard Hollow.
